Over all Review of Canon PowerShot A800 Point & Shoot Digital Camera Black
Canon PowerShot A810 Point & Shoot is Canon’s new entry-level model and is priced decently for your pocket. The camera sports a 16-megapixel sensor, a 5x optical zoom lens with the focal length starting from 28mm to 140mm. Then it caters to a DIGIC IV image-processing engine, which works so aptly well. To top that, the camera can record full HD 720 p videos recording at 25fps and presents you to review all your images and videos on a 2.7-inch LCD monitor. Plenty of other features lined up from here that you can choose from a line of modes are Program, Live control, Portrait, Low light, Miniature, Toy camera, or Discreet. On the surface, this all looks very easy to use. The camera is loud and calls for novices, because of its simple functionalism, however the live button gives you access to manual controls that gives anyone with enough space to experiment. Powered by AA batteries and compatible with SDHC, and SDXC memory cards, the camera is not a bad idea to have.
Design and Build Quality
Available in Red, Black, and Silver, Canon PowerShot A810 might be a high-resolution camera but that does not make it any less portable, its size of 94.7mm x 61.3mm x 29.8mm makes it ideal for your pockets, neither would bug much of your bag space. The weight of mere 171grams with the batteries and memory cards included makes it a thorough portable and enjoyable camera. The build of the Canon PowerShot A810 is a chunk of plastic, which feels light and smooth in your hand. The screen sits into the body slightly and has a cost issue to make it sit snugly with the body. The camera is not much different from what others in the markets are producing.
Focus and Face Detection
For focus, the camera uses a few options like the AF mode that includes single and continuous, the other AF point selection that will vary on your size selection, then there is an open option for you to switch on or off the AF lock, lastly, the AF system for face detection dependant on 9 point is another remarkable feature. The closest shot you can take is from a mere 3cm away. The auto mode in the Canon PowerShot A810 is one smart feature that analyzes your scenes pre hand before you take the picture. It is quirky and accurate, for it decides what is the best photographic mode for your scene (macro, landscape etc) and thus, chooses the best in it for you. Specifically talking about the face detection technology embedded in the camera is great! The feature ensures great photographs and can detect up to 35 faces within a single frame, this with the active camera optimizing brightness and full focus while white balance take sides towards neutral skin tones even as your group faces difficult lighting conditions. Other features include Auto Red-Eye Correction that eliminates red-eye.
Lens and Image Stabilization
Gracing the front of the camera, you will find a very standard Canon 5X optical zoom range lens, that which starts at 28 mm and stretches to 140 mm in a 35 mm equivalent format. The little edge is brought by the large chrome bezel that encompasses the lens and separating it from the rest of the body. The structure has to be commended, as even with deliberate manipulation, the lens suffers minimal shakes. The wide angle will give you enough space to capture large landscapes and group shots easily. The 5x zoom is a letdown, but the quality isn’t compromising. The only feature countering camera shakes is your Digital IS, which produces sharper shots killing the blurs. What it does is to detect the movement of your camera, and henceforth, using a shake reduction tech automatically works to produce the best photographs.
Screen and Menus
When you turn the camera to its back, you see a bright and clear 230k dots screen. The screen is decent enough in size, can provide a satisfactory and pleasurable view for you and your friends, to play back and rewind your photos and videos. Canon has spent a long time organizing the menu system to perfection. In a simple structure, Canon PowerShot A810 Point & Shoot has two menus such as the menu with a dark grey background with white lettering and orange highlighter, soothing colors to the eyes so you might find it pleasant while using the menu.
The camera uses two AA batteries, a convenient choice for any kind of photographer, for they are readily available and easy to be carried around. There is no fuss of wires involved either. The batteries are rechargeable and approved to last approximately 500 shots on a full charge. A high speed USB 2.0 and HDMi video output are given with a SD card slot that allows external memory storage.
The camera is capable of recording HD 720p videos, which is an amazing feature for this small camera. Given that, most compact cameras do have video recording options but with poor quality, 720p is of a very appreciable quality. There is a dedicated button specifically for video recording, a delightful feature indeed.
For behind those beautiful pictures, an amazing 16MP sensor is present that works very well. Detailed pictures taken are great for large-scale prints and even later amenable to cropping.
