Canon PowerShot SX20 IS Description

Canon has upgraded the last year’s popular SX10 IS and has announced the all new model SX20 IS. This powerful digicam offers the latest canon technology. The Canon Powershot SX20 IS is a new 12.1 megapixels super-zoom camera, sporting a 20x zoom lens equivalent to a focal length of 28-560mm. Keeping an almost identical body to the SX10, the SX20 remains very comfortable to hold and shoot, retaining perks like the articulated LCD and four-AA-powered operation. It's heavy, 1.5 pounds, which makes it feel like a DSLR, but the big grip gives you plenty of holding room.  There's a deep indented thumb rest on the back, joined by playback, exposure compensation, and focus area selection buttons.  On the bright side, it does add 720p video while retaining the capability to zoom during capture, plus a mini HDMI connector for playing movies on an HDTV.

The SX20 IS has also become perfect in its auto mode, using scene detection, which along with recognizing people and close-ups, also can additionally distinguish between different lighting conditions, and even if the focus is in motion. The hinged screen helps when shooting at awkward angles and flips right around for self-portraits. Its 2.5in diagonal is on the small side, but the electronic viewfinder (EVF) is much bigger than other cameras’ EVFs. For the more experienced photographer, there's a wide range of adjustments and customizations on hand, including a range of ISO sensitivities from 80 to 1,600 equivalent, and three metering modes: evaluative, center-weighted, and spot. Shutter speeds vary from 15 to 1/3,200 second, and the maximum flash synch speed is 1/250 second.

There's also USB 2.0 high-speed computer connectivity. The Canon Powershot SX20 IS stores images on Secure Digital or Multimedia Card media, including the newer (and higher capacity) SDHC types. Images are saved in one of two JPEG compression settings, where the SX10 offered three choices. Its dimensions are measured as 124mm x88mm x 87mm and weighs 560 grams. Canon SX20 IS supports a variety of capturing mode and scene mode such as Auto, sports, Portrait, Landscape, Indoor, Sunset, Beach, Fireworks, Snow, Night scenes, Aquarium, and many more which enables a user to capture the memorable moments of life.

Users will also benefit from helpful Hints & Tips incorporated within the user interface. Short descriptions of functions simplify the interaction with the camera and encourage the user to explore the features- thereby taking better shots.
