Samsung ST5500 Point & Shoot Digital Camera Silver Description
Samsung ST5000 is one of the company's third generation cameras that offer 3.5inches wide touch 1152k capacitive display with high resolution and several viewing angles to work with. But because of the glossy and reflective furnish over the screen, viewing becomes difficult under bright light or low light conditions. Though in low light, the camera somehow manages itself well, as the noise gets controlled and framing shots become fairly easy. With its performance you might mixed feelings, from photo to photo and around it, does take time but it tends to focus on objects fast even in dark conditions. The focus though does well in getting over the object but the minimum focusing distance at just 7cm, is quite poor. The sensor that works behind all this is 14.2MP 1/2.3 inches. The photos are nicer at up to ISO 400, provided you would be using these images for small sized prints but going above ISO 800, the results become worse. The zoom lens on either side manages the barrel distortion quite well at 31mm focal length. At the telephoto end, the lens works hard to manage the sharpness across the frame. The video recording option here is 720p. All the recording gets done at a frame rate of 30fps with stereo sound and you can also avail the optical zoom while you are recording. The video shoot does better in apt light but strives harder when the light is not apt at all. The camera looks good and well made with a half metal and half plastic body. The looks of Samsung ST5000 might give the impression of being expensive but in real, it is not. It is a sleek and a slim camera that is available in Dark Rust Orange, Matt Black, and Gun Metal Grey colours. The camera weighs only 179grams including memory card and battery, and measures 103.8 x 58.3 x 19.6mm. With touch screen, you can have issues of it not being a multi-touch. However, you can tap the screen for next and older photos as well as slide your finger for the purpose. Yet again, the improvement on response time is required. You can play your stills, work over slideshow of pictures, and append the background music and effects to transition as well. The effects such as vivid and retro, vignette and fisheye add to the experience of viewing images over this camera.
