Samsung ST80 Description
Samsung ST80, when taken out for shoot, provides accurate colors and nice exposure even in the areas that have shadows or bright sunlight. With low light photos, the camera doesn't give quality. Focus remains sharp in both outdoors and indoors, though. The exposure problem shall arise with both light and shadows indoors. If you are to pick up flash setting, then getting close-ups should not be the idea. Macro pics are sharp but again, if you can avoid the flash. The camera is quite responsive though you might face some shutter lag in pictures taken in low light conditions. The optical zoom lens letting you zoom up to 3x isn't satisfactory. There is minimum magnification and the wide-angle capabilities are not that noticeable. Zoom lens moves slowly when magnification is wanted. The manual controls can be used only on ISO, exposure, and white balance. The camera is slim but easy to hold and use. The camera also has a sturdy feel. ST80 gets shipped with charger, so you can charge the camera with the battery inside. The main troubling thing is that if you have a second battery, you cannot charge it while still using the first. The camera can only use microSD that means you have to be a lot careful while taking the card out or putting it in. In its place, regular-sized SD cards should have been better.
The good part is the touch screen LCD. But even though it is 3 inches wide diagonally, the look of it is small and making a correct selection on the graphics becomes difficult at times. There are no further physical controls for controlling the menu system appearing on the LCD touch panel. All that ST80 has to offer can be accessed via the screen. If you would take the camera out and work under direct sunlight then you would experience a bit of glare on screen, yet your work would be done. The key feature for the camera is the ST80's Wi-Fi capability, to transfer photos over network. The feature of built in Wi-Fi and that of touch screen LCD, makes it a different camera as compared to the cameras that are available in the same price range. If specifically these features are needed in a camera, then ST80 can be a choice. But if these features aren't enough for you then you should resume you search for finding cameras with better photographic qualities. The reason why this camera has been discontinued in India is before us.
