Audi India has brought in the facelift version of its luxurious saloon, Audi A4. The car is loaded with some high class lavish features and has arrived in India on 3rd May 2012. Mileage and Fuel Economy
India being a mileage conscious country, Audi has provided the face-lifted Audi A4 with better fuel efficiency via start stop engine technology in petrol engine and by improving the generator voltage. The new start stop system has aided the car to cut down the fuel consumption and emit less carbon dioxide. Furthermore, Audi has improved the alternator voltage by conversion of the kinetic energy into working electrical energy when the car is braking. This energy is utilized to help the generator throughout succeeding acceleration, which in turn help in saving up to a lot of fuel. The fuel efficiency has gone up by 10-25% on the new Audi A4. The 1.8 TFSI offers a fuel efficiency of 15.64 kmpl (ARAI). The 2.0 TDI offers a phenomenal efficiency of 16.55 kmpl (ARAI), thus ensuring best in class fuel efficiency. On the other hand, the 3.0 TDI diesel engine is a decent 14.92 kmpl.

Acceleration and Pick up

The variant powered by 2.0 TDI engine goes from 0 to 100 kmph market in merely 9.1 seconds and has a top speed of 210 km per hour. The only petrol variant with 1.8 TFSI engine has a top speed of 225 km per hour and consumes 8.3 seconds only to get from 0 to 100 km per hour speed mark.

The central console now has matching trim level, enhanced multimedia interface and switchgear. Audi offers a whole kit of state-of-the-art infotainment systems for its A4 series. The concert radio with eight speakers is standard, while the MMI system with voice dialogue, color monitor and DVD player forms the top of the line. The dark colored leather upholstery with wood trim will provide the car with a much lavish and deluxe ambience. The interiors of 2012 Audi A4 will also come with Audi’s Drive Select System, which would include five driving modes. The start and stop technology will assist the car in saving some fuel. Therefore, we can say that the comfort level of the new Audi A4 remains high class and sophisticated changes enhance the overall look of the interiors. Still the longest wheelbase in its segment gives greater comfort in the car. Rear AC vents, center arm rest for front and rear, sun roof and electric seats are all the measure of comfort in Audi A4.

The new 2012 Audi A4 is offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel variants of the saloon comprises of 2.0 TDI engine that churns out 143 hp of peak power at the rate of 4200 rpm and a maximum torque of 320 Nm at the rate of 1750-2500 rpm. There is a 1.8 TFSI petrol engine also that powers the new 2012 Audi A4. This engine produces maximum power of 170 hp at 3800-6200 rpm and a crest torque of 320 Nm at 1400-3700 rpm. The 3.0 V6 TDI diesel engine is also an extremely dynamic and robust and manages to put out impressive 245 BHP of power at 400-4500 rpm and high amount of torque i.e 500 Nm at 1400-3250 rpm.
The new Audi A4 is features aluminium alloy wheels in all the variants with 7J x 16 cast wheels and the tyre size is 225/55 R16. The wheels have Audi’s four rings at its centre.
The front suspension is made of Five-link front suspension, upper and lower wishbones, tubular anti-roll Bar while the rear has Independent-wheel, trapezoidal-link rear suspension with resiliently mounted subframe and anti-roll bar.
Handling and Control
The 2012 Audi A4 feature ABS or Anti Lock Braking System that will prevent the wheels from locking up when emergency brakes are applied. Furthermore, the handling of the car is smoothened with Electronic Stability Program with Traction Control.
