It boasts of a British designed turbocharged engine that comes in diesel and petrol variants. It is equipped with variety of safety as well as convenient features such as LCD screen, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors and break assist as well. It goes easy on the pocket too, as Ford has adopted a very aggressive marketing and sales in keeping the prices down for the consumers of India

Acceleration and Pick up
The Ford EcoSport can reach up to the speeds of 168kmph with hardly any effort. And can cross the 100kmph barrier in 13.72seconds. This SUV is not just about speeds but performance too.
The Ford EcoSport presents itself as the new definition of style. The designing is not only beautiful but aerodynamic as well such that, words cannot express the beauty of this car. The body colored door handles and bumpers goes easy on the eyes and enhance the appearance to a great extent. The small details in the car demand much attention, like the rocker cladding, chrome finished outer handles and many more. The Ambient and Trend find themselves equipped with 15-inch steel alloys, while the upper end models have 16-inch alloy wheels. Other features include home safe headlamps, fog lamps, chromed front grille, bumper claddings, and full wheel covers etc.
The two-tone environment with leather seats not only provide great levels of comfort but look charming too. Additional convenience is provided for rear passengers in terms of cooled glove box, power windows, and theatre dimming options, etc. The Ford EcoSport has integrated infotainment as well as entertainment system by intelligently providing a switching option. There is a 4-speaker setup with 3.5inches MFD screen (only in Titanium model). One of the interesting features is the Fuel Computer that shows many info and gauge bars such as econometer, average fuel economy, distance to empty and even the outside temperature. There are also many features that can be controlled through a remote such as windows, ORVM’s, lid, etc.
The Ford EcoSport’s overall exterior dimensions are 3999mm, 1765mm and 1708mm respectively and the boot space is about 346L that can be expanded up to 705L. The front track and rear track measures out to be 1519mm and 1524mm respectively. It also puts up 200mm as the minimum ground clearance.
With awards such as “International Engine of the Year”, The Ford EcoSport houses one of the best engines with power to fuel efficiency ratio. Both diesel and petrol variants are available with this SUV and have an option of automatic transmission with both. Furthermore, there are two different versions of petrol engine, one with ecoboost and other traditional. Starting with the diesel engine, this 1.5L TDCI engine can produce a maximum power of 89.4BHP at 3750RPM and maximum torque of 204Nm in the range between 2000-2750RPM. Also, for the petrol variants, the figures tend to be more aggressive. The 1.0L boost engine has the maximum torque output of170Nm at 1400-4500RPM and maximum power output of 122.1BHP at 6000RPM. Lastly, the 1.5L TV petrol engine has the maximum power of 110.96BHP at 6300RPM and the maximum torque of 140Nm at 4400RPM.
As for the wheels of the brand new Ford EcoSport, three sets of wheels are available to go with the different variants. Both the Ambiente and Trend have 15inches steel wheels and tyre type 195/65, while top model Titanium gets 16inches alloy wheels with tyre type 205/60.
The suspension setup is of strong build and high quality. All three versions of Ford EcoSport have the similar suspension mechanism. The front suspension comprises of independent MacPherson strut with coil spring. It also has an anti roll bar to prevent body roll. For the rear, the semi-independent twist beam is installed with twin gas apparatus. The oil-filled shock absorbers also find their place in the rear suspension.
Handling and Control
With technologies like traction control and anti lock braking system, the Ford EcoSport holds a strong grip over road and off-road surfaces. Also, Hill launch assist is a very convenient feature which stops the car from rolling downhill. The steering wheel has been integrated with Pull Drift Compensation technology for extra control. As for the brakes, the front wheel gets ventilated disc brakes and the rear gets drum brakes.
Innovative and futuristic looks are combined to form a very hybrid SUV. A list of comfort and safety features is in the offering in the all-new Ford EcoSport. Also, the heart of the car has a very frugal engine that has a good power to performance to fuel mileage ratio.
Long waiting period is definitely expected. Initially available in just a handful of countries, Ford EcoSport can leave many consumers frustrated in alienated countries. Number of dealers and after sales support is not up to the mark in India.
