Honda Amaze

Honda Amaze Description

Honda Amaze, the car that had kept not just the millions of Honda followers across India but also the billions that are present all across the globe waiting with bated breath for almost a year before it first drove out of the company’s stables, was launched in India on 13 April 2013. Having recorded as many as 6,000 bookings two weeks before the official launch ceremony even took place, the Amaze quickly outshone the overwhelming response that was once bestowed upon the segment bestseller, Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, by the masses, clocking in a staggering figure of 22,000 bookings within the first three weeks of its launch. While to some this might appear like a bit too much hype for a car that belongs to the not-so-exciting segment of compact sedans, those who realize the historic turnaround that the Amaze brings for its manufacturers know that this newbie is worth every ounce of publicity that it is getting showered upon with. Besides marking the first foray of Honda into the realm of compact vehicles, which, for the first time, provides the economical segment of compacts an opportunity to experience the sophistication and premiumness that the Japanese automaker introduces in its rides, the Amaze also happens to be the first Honda ever to house a diesel-powered engine under its hood. And considering that it was the lack of an oil-burner powermill that had been giving this celebrated auto-giant such a tough time competing with rivals, this diesel mill has been a more-than-welcome addition. Capable of generating a peak 98.6BHP at 3600RPM along with a maximum of 200Nm of torque at 1750RPM, the 1498cc, 4-cylinder, DOHC, i-DTEC, all-aluminium diesel engine promises to deliver is just as amazing as its power outputs, standing at 25.8kmpl. Apart from this diesel engine, Honda Amaze also has a petrol mill to offer buyers. Borrowed straight from the immensely popular Honda hatchback, Brio, which also supplies the design platform for the Amaze, the 1198cc, 4-cylinder, SOHC, i-VTEC petrol engine has the potential to churn out top power and torque outputs of 86.8BHP at 6000RPM and 109Nm at 4500RPM, respectively. The fuel-efficiency returns that are promised by this petrol range are the same as that of Brio - 15.5kmpl for automatic and 18kmpl for manual versions. Apart from these brilliantly-engineered powermills, what adds value and charm to the Honda Amaze package is its exquisitely-carved outfit. With beautiful character lines running across its side profile, a seamless blend smartly joining its boot to the Brio part of it, dashes of chrome adorning the front and rear and Brio-inspired headlamps perfectly complementing it all, the Amaze is unquestionably one of the most good-looking cars in its segment. The interiors of the car too have been designed to blend together comfort, convenience and classiness, incorporating large and well-cushioned seats, an elegant Beige theme and a full-fledged 2 DIN Integrated audio (AM/FM, MP3, USB & Aux-in) system complete with front and rear speakers and steering mounted controls.
