Expert Review of Hyundai EON
Hyundai Motors was established in 1996, in India, and now in 2013, it is the second largest automobile manufacturer in the country. A couple of years back they introduced Hyundai EON, a small hatchback car targeted at the Indian middle class family and was well received in terms of sales and marketing figures. There are five different variants available right now for the EON; all have the same 0.8litres 3-cylinder gasoline engine. One of the most talked about features of the Hyundai EON is its fuel economy that is a whooping 21.2kmpl. This also makes it a class apart from its competitors such as Maruti Alto, Chevrolet Beat, Maruti A Star, etc. The exteriors of this car are distinctive and futuristic. And, as for the interiors are concerned, spacing and comfort are the two vital features taken care of in this hatchback. Considering this is a hatchback car, Hyundai did an amazing job by equipping the Hyundai EON with many latest and advanced safety features, some of which are the reinforced body structure, engine immobilizer, child safety locks, fog lamps (sports edition only). The Hyundai EON is one of the best hatchbacks in India as of now.

Not only on highways, but also in city traffic, this car consistently produces good fuel economy. The all-new Hyundai EON comes with the blue drive technology that means one has the option of installing a LPG kit, which ultimately means more mileage. It not only is environment friendly but also enhances the engine life to some extent.
The Hyundai EON comes in a total of 6 striking body colors. These are Coral White, Sleek Silver, Mushroom, Ember Grey, Pristine Blue and Maharajah Red. All these colors are highly pleasing to the eyes and make the hatchback look more attractive.
Acceleration and Pick up
The Hyundai EON has some good pickup speed and acceleration. The top speed is around 135kmph and it really starts to struggle when it goes above this figure. It can zoom from 0 to 100kmph under 20 seconds which is quite impressive.
Hyundai designed the Hyundai EON with much distinctive and futuristic looks in comparison to other hatchback cars. It has a dynamic look and a unique arc styling that is very attracting and seductive to the viewer. The new clear headlamps are a little swept back to provide ample all around illumination. The radiator grille has a 2-tone chrome finish with Hyundai written all over it. A high mounted LED stop lamp and integrated rear spoiler makes up for efficient aerodynamics and safe braking. Only the top variant Sportz has body colored outside mirror, door handles and bumpers while the rest only has bumpers. There are many other exciting features such as clear headlamps and tail lamps, hubcap wheel cover, tinted glass, roof antenna, etc. The large air intake not only serves efficient radiator cooling but also provides the sporty look.
The Hyundai EON combines both the elements of luxury and comfort with well-crafted interiors that have lots of ample space. The centre console and dashboard provides a bold appearance that is very sturdy. The two tones of beige and brown are very refreshing and amazing. The high-end models comprise of two DIN entertainment setup with connectivity options such as USB and AUX-in. The instrument cluster looks beautiful and has all the gauges such as low fuel warning, band fuel gauge, gearshift indicator, etc. As per the convenience of the passengers, exclusive pedestal space has been allocated. Also, features like digital clock, power steering, power outlet, seat belt knuckle holder and dual tripmeter are present in the car.

The Hyundai EON obviously comes installed with tubeless tyres as a part of the safety and convenient features. The D lite, D- lite plus and Era plus, all have 145/80 tyre type mounted on 12inches rims and Magna plus and Sportz edition have 155/70 tyre type with13inches rims. The gas-filled shock absorbers are employed to ensure a safe and smoother ride even over potholes and rough roads.
Handling and Control
The power and tilt steering comes very handy with Hyundai EON. The driver always feels like he has full control over the car. The front brakes are the disc brakes and the rear ones are the drum brakes. The body roll is significantly less and the Hyundai EON can easily go around corners.
The fuel mileage is very impressive and has all the comfort and safety features that one can find in small hatchback nowadays. Hyundai even managed to install a driver airbag, a commendable feature indeed. Hyundai EON would definitely suit an Indian middle class family, as it is relatively easy on the pocket.
Although, the all-new Hyundai EON is a masterpiece, it could have done well with some changes. The lower end model lacks many basic features. The extensive usage of cheap inside the cabin is a big letdown.
