It uses the best design technology and techniques, edging styling and leading safety features to attain the title of the “most safe, modern and luxurious compact car”. The 'fluidic sculpture' design includes the hexagonal grille and sculpted surfaces. There are LED headlamps with automatic headlights control along with daytime running lights and a panoramic sunroof.

On the whole, Hyundai I20 looks hot and adorable along with being practically compact. It is most appropriate to tag Hyundai i20 as sharp and stylish on the exterior, spacious and versatile inside and a very safe and reliable overall package.
Mileage and Fuel Economy
Hyundai i20 is available in 1.4 liter & 1.2 liter engine options in petrol version and in 1.4 litre engine option in diesel trim and all the variants sip less fuel under any road conditions. However, when looked at separately, the 1.2 Kappa petrolengine with Dual VTVT gives mileage of 18.5 kmpl, while the 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine gives a mileage of 21.9 kmpl. The embedded technologies like the LAMBDA sensor, Swirl Control Valves, Roller swingarm & HLA (Hydraulic Lash Adjusters) ensures peak performance with low maintenance and the DOHC, 16 Valve engine provides utmost driving satisfaction with towering fuel economy. The least mileage is delivered by the 1.4 litre petrol engine i.e. 15 kmpl. Low figures in this case can be attributed to 4 speed automatic transmission gearbox mated to the engine.

Acceleration and Pick up
The overall performance of Hyundai i20 is one of the class leading on any road conditions. The acceleration & pick up of the car is also remarkable. The 1.2 litre Kappa petrol engine crosses 0kmph-100 km in just 15.2 seconds and the top speed attainable in this car is a decent 152 kmph. If this is not enough for speed maniacs, Hyundai i20 with 1.4 litre petrol engine should be their cup of tea. This zippy car accelerates from nil to 100 kmph speed mark in 15.4 seconds and however, the top speed that can be reached here is marvellous 170 kmph. Even the 1.4 litre CRDi engine is agile enough to show a 0-100 kmph transform on the speedometre in 13.2 seconds. The top speed of Hyundai i20 diesel is close to 166 kmph.
The build quality of Hyundai I20 is very impressive as it is well designed, stylish and elegant. The sloping line running across the top of the dash looks fabulous. The centre console controls and those for driver on steering are also fully functional and clearly chalked out.The steering wheel adjusts up and down and reaches in and out with height adjustment and the glovebox is roomy, illuminated and linked to the air-conditioning system. The car comes with an iPod connector too. This supermini car, Hyundai i20 is big enough to accommodate five adults comfortably. In the premium compact car segment, Hyundai I20 introduces the Automatic Transmission (AT) with the power-packed 1.4L GAMMA petrol engine for the first time ever. The revolutionary Automatic Transmission i20 uses a 4-speed gearbox with an overdrive lock switch. The engine uses a DOHC, 16 Valve, VTVT technology that gives quick acceleration, smooth drivability, low emissions and optimum fuel mileage. It churns out 100 Ps power at 5500 rpm and 13.9 kg-m of torque at 4200 rpm. Another petrol engine that is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission i.e. 1.2 Kappa engine, belts out 84 ps at 5200 rpm of peak power and max torque of 11.4 kgm at 4000 rpm. The power has seen a considerable hike due to introduction of dual VTVT. For a comfortable city driving, its power, the highest in the segment and torque is hugely admirable. Last but not the least, Hyundai i20 adorns a 1.4 litre CRDi diesel power train that offers a power of 90 Ps at 4000 rpm and the best-in-class torque of 22.4 kg-m at 1750-2750 rpm.

Handling and Control
Overall the Hyundai i20 strikes a good balance between ride and handling. The setup feels more focused on ride comfort. At the same time the i20 is easy to drive at slower urban speeds, with light yet responsive electric steering, a bulk free gearbox and decent pedal weightings. Overall though the ride and handling is better than the class average. The iGen i20 comes standard with automatic climate control with heater, power windows and an external temperature display. It also ticks the safety box with standard Electronic Stability Control as well as Anti-Lock Braking system, Electronic Brake Distribution and Traction Control along witrh a whopping 6 airbags. The computerized ESC system helps to minimize the risk of skidding by applying brakes to individual wheels to head the car in the desired direction. The Hyundai i20 has an extensive list of active and passive safety equipment, including front seatbelt pre-tensioners, active head-restraints, etc.
Hyundai i20 is spacious and comfortable with a fluidic design. The engines are thrifty and there is good handling and ride balance in the car. For safety, 6 airbags are more than enough. AV vents for rear passengers are a treat to back seat passengers.
The price seems to be on higher side considering that it is a hatchback and not a typical luxury sedan. Cruise control is not offered.
