Mahindra & Mahindra has produced many tough and reliable SUV’s in the Indian market including Mahindra Thar, Mahindra Scorpio, Mahindra Bolero, and the recent Mahindra XUV 500. They recently have introduced an advanced and upgraded version of Mahindra Bolero, which comes equipped with an m2DiCR engine that produces 63BHP of power with 195Nm of torque for a thrilling ride. It has been given more muscular and aggressive looks with broader bumpers and hawk-eye headlamps. The front grille has been given a honeycomb mesh finish that adds on to the tough looks. The 2.5litres m2DiCR engine that produces a power of 63BHP at 3200RPM, gives a mileage of 15.96kmpl on the highway and 12kmpl in the city, which is pretty for this heavy duty SUV. The Mahindra Bolero uses a new Micro Hybrid system which provides automatic fuel saving. This amazing system automatically senses when engine is not in use and switches it to standby mode. This Micro Hybrid system also helps in the optimum utilization of fuel hence, making it very fuel-efficient and pocket friendly. Acceleration and Pick up
When we talk about the pickup and acceleration of Mahindra Bolero, it should be known that it is not a race car but the kind of users it caters to, and the kind of road and environment it goes through, it is considered a heavy duty vehicle and does what it is best known for. Mahindra Bolero comes with 5 speed manual transmission and can reach a top speed of 123kmph. From a standstill, Mahindra Bolero can reach 100kmph in about 25.61 seconds.
As we look into the appearance of Mahindra Bolero, it has not changed its masculine look much. The car has a flat sense of design, which is also practical because it keeps the body repair costs to the lowest. As a noticeable change, it carries broader bumpers and hawk-eye headlamps. Because of the masculine body type and tyre size of 215/75, the body roll is cut down to zero even at high speed. There are power windows with the switches mounted on the central console along with central locking and keyless entry, which is only available in top end models.
As for this heavy duty SUV, it measures 4107mm in length, 1880mm in height and 1745mm in width. A ground clearance of 180mm is the main reason that makes off roading for this vehicle, a piece of cake.
Mahindra Bolero is powered by 2523cc M2DiCR engine that is also available in Scorpio with only difference in tuning. It produces a power of 63BHP at 3200 RPM, and with this power, it gives a mileage of 15.96kmpl on the highway and 12kmpl in the city. This engine is combined with the 5 speed manual transmission, and with a very smooth gearbox, gives the driver an amazing driving experience on road.
All the models, from top end to the base, gets a tyre size of 215/75 R15, giving it the required ground clearance and grip to maintain the balance of the SUV on high speed. Bolero maintains their tyre types as same for all its models because this SUV is more often driven in semi-urban areas where the roads are not well built.
Mahindra maintains its suspension same for all its models with Independent coil spring and anti-roll bar at the front suspension and Elliptical leaf springs at the rear suspension.
Handling and Control
The handling of this SUV is made very easy with a combination of disc and drum brakes where the disc brakes are in front and drum brakes are at the rear, which is an important feature of the rough SUV. The gearshifts are very smooth which makes it easy to drive at high speeds and gives a good control and handling of the vehicle. In addition, the power steering takes the driving experience of Bolero to new highs.
