The powerful 2.2 litre mHawk140 engine gives instantaneous acceleration, taking Mahindra XUV500 from 0-100kmph in just 17 seconds and all the way to a top speed of 185 Kmph.

Mahindra XUV 500 being a gross vehicle stretches 4585 mm in length, 1890 mm in width and 1785 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2700 mm, ground clearance is 200 mm and gross vehicle weight is 2450 Kg.
The 2.2 Liter mHawk 140 bhp direct injection diesel engine sports the 5th generation Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT). The 6-speed transmission that enables two over drivers comes with a self adjusting clutch that maximized the pedal effort. The engine delivers a cubic capacity of 2197 cc, maximum gross power of 140 Bhp(103kW) @ 3750 rpm and maximum gross torque of 330 Nm @1600-2800rpm.
Interactive Torque Monitor (ITM) regularly monitors wheel speed, steering position and acceleration pedal position and distributes torque accordingly. If a slip is identified, torque is automatically directed to the wheels with traction. The vehicle automatically makes transition from 2WD to AWD mode without any driver intervention.
Mahindra XUV 500 is fitted with P235/65 R17 Radial tubeless front and rear tyres and a tyre-tronics system that gives you live updates of the exact air pressure and temperature in each tyre.
Mahindra XUV 500 is a four wheel drive and India’s first indigenously developed monocoque SUV with the first transverse engine offering from Mahindra. The front suspension is built on McPherson technology with anti-roll bars to for an increased front balance and rear suspension is multilink type with anti-roll bars which has been developed in collaboration with Lotus, famous motor sports company. The distinctively designed suspension delivers and excellent ride and handling.
Handling and Control
A brood of safety features make it a veritable fortress. Mahindra’s Electronic stability Program (ESP) is always on high alert against any threatening driving situation. Other features include Anti-Lock braking system (ABS), electronic Brake force distribution (EBD), Roll Over Mitigation, Traction control, Hill Hold Control and Hill Descent Control. Six airbags cushion the interiors with driver and passenger airbags, side airbags and curtain airbags.
A full-fledged, integrated Driver Information System (DIS) diligently reports all vital information about the car. Features like Static-bending projection headlamps with LED parking lights, GPS navigation with touch screen and audio support and 6-inch color touchscreen infotainment system ensure a superior handling. Mahindra XUV 500 front and rear brakes are disc and caliper type. Turning circle radius of 5.6m is reasonable for the big sized SUV.
