Renault India has made its mark in the Indian car market in short span of time. The mileage delivered by Renault Pulse hatchback (petrol and diesel) is impressive and maintaining the car is easy on pocket. The petrol variants powered by 1198cc of DOHC engine producing 76 PS of power and 104 Nm of torque and the diesel variants powered by 1461cc of K9K dCi diesel motor churning out 64 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque are mated with five speed manual gearbox. This five speed manual transmission allows the car to deliver inspiring mileage. The petrol version of Pulse manages to deliver 18.06 km per litre of fuel economy, while the diesel variant generates 23.03 km per litre of mileage (as per ARAI).

The pickup and acceleration of Renault Pulse is quite imposing and doesn’t let down the owner. When accelerated, the car zooms with a top speed of 160 km per hour and goes from 0-100kmph in 14.5 seconds. On the other hand, the petrol variant, which is blessed with 1198cc of DOHC engine generating 76 PS of power and 104 Nm of torque, is mated with the same five speed manual transmission. But when accelerated, the hatchback here goes from 0 to 100 kmph in 14.6 seconds and has a top speed of 160 km per hour.
Coming to the looks and appearance of Renault Pulse, the hatchback has a lot of resemblance with Nissan Micra. Although, the more sporty Pulse, having a unique character of its own is different from the bubble shaped Micra. Renault Pulse comes with a dynamic design accompanied by comfort features. The front profile of the car is quite sharply done and has crisp follow me home headlights, while the black grille amplifies the front of the car substantially. Body colored bumpers and chrome lining beneath the grille and carefully positioned Renault logo is just perfect. The side profile of the car is perfect as well with the smooth contours. Body colored ORVMs and body color pull type door handles and green tinted glass make the side profile interesting. Finally the rear end of Pulse is curvy and renders a wavy feel to it. The rear spoiler has high mounted stop light and the windscreen has washer and wiper accompanied by defogger. The taillights have been given a very unique and elegant shape.
Renault India knew how much importance the interiors of the car holds. Therefore, Renault Pulse has been bestowed with comfortable and chic interiors. The tilt adjustable power steering, air conditioning system, high quality fabric upholstered seats, ample of legroom and headroom, central locking system comes as the standard features. Whereas depending on the variant one chooses, the car also features automatic climate control, front fog lights, tachometer, power windows (front and rear), folding seats with adjustable head rears, cup holder in front and rear, chrome handlebars and incorporated audio player. The electrically adjustable ORVMs are also come out to be very handy for the driver.
Renault Pulse is a good looking hatchback car and is accompanied by perfect proportions. There is slight difference in the dimensions of Renault Pulse petrol and Renault Pulse Diesel. Pulse petrol is a bit more in height as compared to diesel version of the hatchback. The height of Pulse diesel is 1525mm while petrol Pulse has a height of 1530mm. Rest the length and width of the hatchback is 3805mm and 1665mm respectively. Wheelbase of the hatch is 2450 mm suggesting that rear passengers can reclined easily on their seat.

The Renault Pulse diesel comes with 1461cc of Renault K9K dCi diesel motor that produces 64 PS of power with 160 Nm of torque, while the Renault Pulse petrol is blessed with XH5 with 1198cc of DOHC engine producing 76 PS of power with 104 Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated with five speed manual transmission that makes Renault Pulse a total delight to drive.
Renault Pulse features five spoke wheels that make Pulse more perky and attractive. The mid variant of the car features 14 inches of steel wheels with full wheel caps, whereas the top trim of Pulse has 15 inches of alloy wheels. The tubeless tyres have a 165/70 size, where as the Renault Pulse RXV tyres measure up to 175/60.
The suspension system of Renault Pulse is same as Nissan Micra’s. The front end has MacPherson Strut type suspension while the rear end has Torsion Bean type forks that allow a very comfortable drive and furthermore aid the car to have more stability on the roads.
Handling and Control
The handling of Renault Pulse is smooth and hassle free. The tilt adjustable power steering amplifies the overall handling of the car. The ABS in the top end variant of the car averts the wheel from locking when immediate brakes are applied thereby provided maximum control to the driver.
