Toyota India, the Indian wing of the Japanese auto giant Toyota has rolled out the 2013 version of its flagship MPV model in the country. The company hasn't made any changes to the engine technicalities or its mechanism. However, the Japanese automaker has done some impressive modifications to the exteriors of this MPV that makes it looks refreshing and quite fascinating. Toyota has done modifications to the mid and top end diesel variants of Toyota Innova while keeping the base level variants untouched. Apart from this, they have added a new top variant called as the Z Grade, which is only launched with a diesel engine option. The company has done major modification has been made to the frontage of this vehicle where it gets a large chrome radiator grille and hawk wing shaped headlight cluster. The design of the bumper also received some major updates where it gets a new style air dam with body colored protective cladding fitted under it. Also the 2013 Toyota Innova model gets the contemporary body graphics along with sport side moldings and so on. Inside this MPV, you will find that dual toned leather seating upholstery, which will add to the plushness of the cabin. For added elegance and richness, the company has given a wood finish on the door armrest and also on the gearshift knob as well. The petrol variants of this MPV are equipped with 2.0-litre engine while the diesel variants have been blessed with 2.5-litre engine.
Mileage and Fuel Economy
Toyota Innova is a premium MPV model and it is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol powered variants have been blessed with a 2.0-litre engine that has the ability to deliver a minimum of 8.3 Kmpl in the city, while producing 12.5 Kmpl on the highways. The diesel powered variants of this MPV have been bestowed with 2.5-litre engine that returns a maximum 13.5 Kmpl, which is not so bad.
The company rolled out this MPV model with overall six dazzling color shades that adds to the contemporary style of this four wheeler. These color shades include Super White, Silver Mica metallic, Silky Gold Mica Metallic, Blue metallic, Grey Mica Metallic and Dark Red Mica Metallic.
Acceleration and Pick up
The Toyota Innova powered by the petrol power plant has the ability to reach a top speed of about 179 Kmph and it can obtain a 100 Kmph speed in just about 12.8 seconds. On the other hand, the diesel powered variants of this luxury MPV models can accelerate towards 100 Kmph speed from standstill in about 17.4 seconds and it can reach a top speed of about 149 Kmph, which is quite good for a vehicle of such stature.
The latest Toyota Innova MPV model comes with contemporary body style and cosmetics that will turn the heads on the go. This MPV gets refurbished front and rear profile along with minor updates to the side profile as well. However, the major updates have been made to the front facade where you can see the bolder and larger radiator grille with chrome plating. This radiator grille is also fitted with the prominent company logo and surrounded by the redesigned hawk wing shaped headlight cluster, which is more pronounced and aggressive. The petrol version of Toyota Innova has been blessed with a 2.0-litre, four cylinder based engine that makes 1998cc of overall displacement capacity. This petrol mill can churn out a maximum power of about 131.4bhp at 5600rpm, while yielding 181Nm of peak torque output at 4000rpm. The diesel variants are blessed with 2.5-litre motor that comes with BS III and BS IV emission norms. Both the BS III and BS IV versions of diesel engine makes 2494cc of displacement capacity and unleashes a maximum power of about 100bhp at 3600rpm, while generating 200Nm of peak torque in between 1400 to 3400rpm. Both the petrol and diesel engines of this MPV model have been skillfully coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox.
The wheel arches of the base and mid range version of Toyota Innova have been equipped with 15-inch steel wheels while the top end variants have been equipped with stylish alloy wheels. These wheels have been equipped with high performance tubeless radial tyres of size 205/65 R15, which have a superior grip on the road.
The front axle of this MPV has been equipped with double wishbone type of suspension system, while its rear axle gets the four link with lateral rod type of suspension. Both these mechanism's help in keeping this vehicle stable on any road condition.
Handling and Control
This luxury MPV is blessed with a proficient braking mechanism in the form of ventilated discs and leading-trailing drums that offers precise braking on the go. Here all the diesel variants are incorporated with anti-lock braking system that will reduce the skidding and improves the handling aspects.
