Over all Review of BlackBerry Q10

BlackBerry Q10 Price

Overall Review

BlackBerry, after so  many years of domination, is fighting as an underdog. The company is trying to claw its way back in to the market. BlackBerry Q10 actually looks pretty formidable and is a refreshing change from the company's obsolete operating system that was looking down the barrel for some time now while competing against the ferocious Android and Apple iOS. Redemption might well be on the way for BlackBerry with BlackBerry Q10 that still holds the QWERTY keypad but also introduces the touchscreen technology with it making it a hybrid device. Its 3.1 inch screen is not that big but never the less is super AMOLED and gives a powerful pixel density of 328ppi. The display has fantastic display quality with users getting to view the screen from various angles without any reflection. The processing power is well looked after for BlackBerry Q10 when compared to Apple iPhone 5 and other high profile Android gadgets with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor along with a 2GB RAM and a 16GB internal storage capacity. There is also a microSD card slot that make sure that the user can expand the memory of the device up to 32GB. In terms of design, the device is more or less like its predecessors with a bit larger dimensions. The camera department is pretty heavily loaded too with an 8 megapixels rear camera along with a 2 megapixels front shooter, which shows that BlackBerry has worked really hard to make this device a treat for the users. Other features include a music player, a video player whereas the user will also get access to over 70,000 apps, which are also common to Apple iPhones and other Android devices. Looking at the connectivity features, there are the usual features including Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi while the new additions include an HDMI port and a NFC capability along with Wi-Fi tethering with the Wi-Fi hotspot, thus making sure that the user can make the device as a hub for other devices to connect to as far as Internet connection is concerned.

User Interface and UI functionality

BlackBerry Q10 comes with a 3.1 inch screen which is super AMOLED and offers a resolution of 720 by 720 pixels along with a pixel density of 328ppi, which is at par with Apple iPhone 5. The device can be interacted with through the touch screen facility or the QWERTY keypad.

Multimedia features

BlackBerry Q10 has a music player and a video player that gives the user access to all the latest that the entertainment world has to offer. The music can be heard by the loudspeakers or through the earphones that can be attached to the device with the help of a 3.5mm jack. The music is further filtered by Album, Artists, Playlists etc.

Pictures and Video quality

BlackBerry Q10 has an 8 megapixels rear camera, which is very powerful and allows the users to click pictures with clarity and also facilitates loads of features including an LED flash, auto focus and digital zoom. There is also a 2 megapixels front camera for video calling and video chat.

Internet support

BlackBerry Q10 has lots of back up for Internet connectivity including Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi tethering. The user can check mails, download data including music files, games, images and videos at a swift speed with ease and comfort.

Internal and External Memory

BlackBerry Q10 has a internal memory of 16GB, which is plenty for the user to store loads of data including music files, games, images and videos. If the memory is still not enough the user can expand the external memory of the device up to 64GB with the help of a microSD card slot.

Applications and Gaming

BlackBerry Q10 gives the user access to over seventy thousand apps which the user can access from the web while most of them are preinstalled in the device. The device still looks weak in the gaming and the apps department as compared to the high profile Android devices or even Apple iPhones.

Battery Backup

BlackBerry Q10 comes with a decent battery of standard lithium ion 1,800 mAh that makes sure that the user can operate on the device for a longer duration without his or her entertainment being cut short in the middle.

Connectivity Offered

BlackBerry Q10 has loads of data connectivity features including the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi tethering facility that allows the user to connect with the web and also make the device as a hub for other devices to connect with the web as well. The HDMI port is also another features which is new to its repertoire along with the NFC capability. There is also the USB port which allows the user to connect with computers and laptops to transfer or receiving data. The bluetooth facility allows the user to connect with other devices and transfer or receive data as well where the data exchanged may include music files, games, images and videos.

Compare

BlackBerry Q10 when compared to Samsung Galaxy SIII has a different operating system with the former featuring the BlackBerry 10 operating system as compared to the latter's Android Jelly Bean. In terms of the processing power, BlackBerry Q10 has a 1.5GHz processor whereas the latter has a 1.4GHz processor. BlackBerry Q10 wins in terms of RAM capability with 2GB as compared to Samsung Galaxy SIII's 1GB. BlackBerry Q10 is a hybrid device with both touch screen and a QWERTY keypad, accommodated to it, as compared to the pure full touch screen of Samsung Galaxy SIII.  The screen size though is bigger in Samsung Galaxy SIII with 4.8 inches, which is pretty big as compared to the 3.1 inch screen size offered by BlackBerry Q10.

17 October 2013: Blackberry Q10, which has been quite a hit among those who can afford it, has been given a price cut today along with a leaked OS update. Blackberry has been struggling to survive, or lets be honest, Blackberry has been struggling hard to survive amid the tough competition offered by the competitive manufacturers. All of this has kind of forced the company to slash down its priced to an extent, doing it while the festive season is up can bring in some profits. Blackberry Q10, till now costing Rs. 39,900, has been brought down to Rs. 26,023 today. Other than this, there has been an updated version of operating system with which a lot many new features are added like FM Radio, updated translations, hub fixes, updated carrier bars, APN setting fixes, NDK fixes, keyboard fixes, various AIR fixes, addition of new sensors to the camera and the likes. After years of success, the recent times have come out as struggle for BlackBerry. But the company believes in hitting back harder, and with the very same motive it is planning to bring out the BlackBerry Q10. The device being a hybrid might add to the company’s favor as they have retained their usual QWERTY keypad but have added the touchscreen facility which is the most common feature of every smartphone today. This exciting and outstanding phone was launched on 6 June 2013 in India. It has a 3.1 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors, which is small in size but turns out to give an amazing resolution of 720 x 720 pixels that makes a powerful pixel density of 328 pixels per inch. On the power front, the phone packs in a dual-core Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.5GHz paired with a PowerVR SGX544 graphics unit which together takes care for smooth running of heavy applications and gives a good gaming experience too. For efficient multitasking, the processing system is accompanied with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage capacity which is expandable up to 64GB.

Some of the highlighting features of the phone are:

* sports a 3.1 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen in 16M colors with a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels that makes a powerful pixel density of 328 pixels per inch.
* features a 8 megapixel primary rear camera comes with added features like autofocus, LED flash, image stabilization, etc. and is accompanied by a 2 megapixel front snapper.

BlackBerry Q10 and BlackBerry Z10 are the two new devices that Blackberry is banking on with much hyped comeback finally coming to reality. The latter of the two devices is the flagship device for Blackberry this season, while BlackBerry Q10, which comes with lots of formidable features, has not only retained its original roots with the QWERTY keypads, unlike BlackBerry Z10, but has also introduced a touchscreen facility along with the keypad, which means no navigation track pad like the previous Blackberry gadgets.

BlackBerry Q10 is the new revitalized device from the ever so popular Blackberry which is in ever so need of being dragged from the hell of being called as the outdated operating system to being back in to the market and competing with the latest Android gadgets and Apple iPhone. The device is a hybrid, which is a good move by the company as they have retained the QWERTY keypad along with the touch screen facility, which is obviously the way forward as far as the smartphones are concerned in the future. The device comes with a 3.1 inch screen and clearly the QWERTY keypad ate most of the size of the screen. Still the screen is powered by super AMOLED technology, which allows the user to view the device from different angles with minimum reflection. The device is powered by a dual core 1.5GHz processor that puts the device at par with other heavy weights like Samsung Galaxy SIII and Apple iPhone 5. In terms of pixel density too, the device is head to head against iPhone 5 whereas the 2GB RAM is even more than what Samsung Galaxy SIII offers. The internal storage of 16GB is provided, which allows the user to store tons of data and in case the memory given is not enough the user can enhance the memory of the device up to 64GB with the help of a microSD card slot. Data connectivity features are plenty too with the latest NFC capability finally being equipped with a Blackberry handset along with a HDMI port. The user can also access the web with minimum fuss via Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi tethering. The latter of the two allows the user to make the device as an Internet connection hub so that other devices can connect to the web through it. Buetooth facility is also available allowing the user to connect with other devices so as to transfer data to that device or receive data from it. The data exchanged may include music files, games, images and videos. There is also a microSD card slot that allows the user to connect with the computer in order to charge the device or exchange data with it. Multimedia features are plenty too with a music player and a video player whereas the camera department is heavily loaded with an 8 megapixels rear camera and a 2 megapixels secondary camera that facilitates video chat and video calling.
