Expert Review of Celkon C5050 Black
As time moves forward in the world of technology, everything evolves. What seemed difficult to afford a decade ago is now available at lower prices. In fact, the tier2 companies are able to produce touchscreen devices, a feature that was not easily affordable earlier, at an incredibly low price. There are so many similar features that seemed farfetched earlier but now are so easily accessible that we don’t think of them as a luxury. Celkon C5050 is a low end device that has a 2.8-inch touchscreen, which has a good response time in terms of speed but there are some lethargic moments here and there. The device has a length of 101.6mm, a breadth of 57mm and a height of 14.5mm. The device weighs 889 grams including the weight of the battery. 500 phonebook entries can be kept in the device with the help of the puny internal memory of the device but it’s the microSD card slot that lets the user go full monty in terms of data storage with a expandable limit of 8GB. The camera is nice with 2 megapixels and produces decent images at a resolution of 1600 by 1200 pixels. No fancy features are available with though with just a camera zoom to bank on. Video recordings can be made with a fair quality too. GPRS and a WAP browser work towards bringing about the Internet usage, which makes sure that the user can go to the popular websites like Facebook and Twitter or download data on a small scale. Multimedia features are ample with Celkon C5050, especially with the Kings Movie facility that ensures the user can watch and keep a large movie collection which is a rare quality in a low scale device. Apart from this, there is the usual music player and the video player that the user can bank on as far as listening to songs and watching videos is concerned. A stereo FM radio is also provided whereas the device is also compatible with a 3.5mm jack so connecting an earphone with the device would not be a problem. Since the dual-SIM compatibility is provided, the user can switch between different numbers for making calls and receive calls from the both the SIM cards without missing out on important contacts from either side. The device is available in the colors of black and red. Backed by the standard lithium-ion battery of 1,000mAh, the user can churn out a talk time of up to 5 hours, which is acceptable while the standby time is outstanding with up to 400 hours.
User Interface and UI functionality
Celkon C5050 has a 2.8-inch display that works at a resolution of 240 by 320 pixels and has a pixel density of 143ppi. The TFT touchscreen is certainly not lag free but generates a decent swiping speed if you keep your expectations low.
Celkon C5050 has a music player and a video player for listening to songs and watching videos but the king’s movie facility is the real deal with access to tons of movies. The sound can be heard by the user through the loudspeakers or the earphones that can be attached to the device with the help of a 3.5mm jack. While using loudspeakers, volume should be kept to a manageable level as increasing it would lead the sound to crack a bit. FM radio can be used to record songs apart from accessing the desired radio stations.
Pictures and Video quality
Celkon C5050 has a 2 megapixel camera which enables the user to click nice and pleasant pictures at a resolution of 1600 by 1200 pixels. The user can zoom in on the objects that are located at a distance to get a better view with the help of the camera zoom facility. Video recordings are satisfactory too in terms of performance.
With GPRS and the default browser, Celkon C5050 permits the user to download data or visit the desired web sites like Twitter or check mails for business or leisure purposes. The web speed is good as long as the size of the web sites is low, otherwise it might take a toll on the browser.
Internal and External Memory
Celkon C5050 comes with a microSD card slot whose presence compensates for the low internal memory. The user can then keep a beefy collection of data that may include songs, games, images and videos.
Applications and Gaming
Celkon C5050 offers a lot of games and apps, certainly not at par with Android but respectable. More games can be accessed from the Internet but the numbers of apps are restricted.
Celkon C5050 is charged by the standard lithium-ion battery of 1,000mAh that generates a decent amount of talk time with up to 5 hours. Standby time is awesome though with up to 400 hours. Web surfing time can bite into the battery faster as compared to listening to songs.
The data connectivity features are more or less the same as any other device except the Wi-Fi is missing. Otherwise, GPRS, USB port and the Bluetooth pretty much covers everything that are important means for accessing Internet or exchanging data.
Celkon C5050 when compared to Micromax X267 has a bigger screen with the former featuring a 2.8-inch display as compared to the latter’s 2 inches. Both the device have a microSD card slot but Celkon C5050 has a limit of up to 8GB, which is double of the 4GB offered by Micromax X267. The camera offered by Celkon C5050 is 2 megapixels, which clicks mucth better pictures than Micromax X267’s VGA camera. The battery strength is more or less the same so there is not much to choose in that regard. Celkon C5050 has a touchscreen facility for interaction with the device whereas Micromax X267 has the alphanumeric keypad for the same.
