Expert Review of HTC Desire U T327W Black
The brand that likes to do things differently is back with a brand new device. HTC has always embraced one thing about their device and that too proudly. That one trait is the design and HTC arguably has better designs than any other mobile manufacturing brand in the world, even Apple. Although it is a big statement to make, Apple has not changed the basic look of their device apart from making it longer and slimmer every time. HTC on the on the other hand has evolved their design from plastic outer part to aluminum chassis for HTC One. HTC Desire U on the other hand does not deviate from the plastic outer cover but as usual, the gadget looks supremely beautiful right from the outset in both its standard color of black and white while another orange color has also been added. One of the more unexpected features of this device is the dual SIM feature, something which HTC does not provide more often. The user gets dual standby time too with both the GSM SIM cards. As far as the dimensions of the device goes, the length is 118.5mm, a breadth of 62.3mm and a height of 9.3mm. The device is pretty light too with just 114 grams and is powered by the standard lithium-ion battery of 1,650mAh. The 1GHz dual-core processor along with a satisfactory RAM of 512MB defines the mid-cart status of the device. With a 4GB internal storage capacity, the user is further comforted by the microSD card slot. Although the user will not need one but in case theey are storing large data, the external memory can always go up to 32GB. The screen is fantastic with HTC Desire U as it features a formidable 4-inch display with a good 233ppi pixel density aided by the modest resolution of 480 by 800 pixels. The screen is Super LCD capacitive that gives 16 million colors which is a good sign that clarity would be great. Android Ice Cream sandwich is a good software platform for various purposes like games and apps, but with Android Jelly Bean v.4.1.2 already out in the market, a little higher version was expected. The camera is 5 megapixels and has LED flash too while WVGA videos can also be shot. The absence of a secondary camera is a negative with Samsung whereas Sony is offering the same with similar range devices. NFC capability is optional with HTC Desire U, while the rest of the mandatory connectivity features include the Bluetooth, USB, GPRS, EDGE and Wi-Fi. There is also the Wi-Fi hot spot that makes the connectivity features compact as a whole. The music player, video player are available too for songs and videos but there is no FM radio.
User Interface and UI functionality
HTC Desire U has a super LCD capacitive touchscreen that runs on the resolution of 480 by 800 pixels along with 16 million colors. The 233ppi pixel density is awesome giving beautiful results with videos and images.
HTC Desire U has a music player that is enhanced by the beats audio sound enhancement technology. The results do not improve significantly thus proving that this technology is more of a gimmick. Video player is also provided for the user to watch videos in the formats of MP4, H.263, H.264 and WMV player. Music player on the other hand is supported by the formats MP3, eAAC+, WMA and WAV player.
Pictures and Video quality
HTC Desire U has a 5 megapixel camera which is as good as most of the other HTC devices that with similar strength. The camera produces much better pictures as compared to Samsung Galaxy Ace which also features a 5 megapixel camera. The primary shutter works at a resolution of 2592 by 1944 pixels and has the autofocus and LED flash facility while geo-tagging lets the user track his or her friends and family members. Videos are a little weak in quality with WVGA resolution.
HTC Desire U has the GPRS, EDGE and HTML browser for enjoying the Internet facilities like surfing desired web sites including Facebook and Twitter. Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hot-spot are also vital ingredients for connecting to the web through other external servers.
Internal and External Memory
HTC Desire U has a 4GB internal memory which is very healthy and spacious or storing large amount of data but even if the built-in memory is not enough the services of microSD card slot can be exploited. With a 32GB alteration limit, the user would never run out of space.
Applications and Gaming
HTC Desire U has plenty of games and apps for entertainment. The Android Ice Cream Sandwich is a real gift to those who are big on playing games like Temple run. HTC Super LCD touchscreen is also smooth and swift to deal with.
The 1,650mAh standard lithium-ion battery is certainly not a bad power back up giving the user a lengthy standby time and a sustainable talk time. The music play time is also prolonged but it is the web surfing that turns out to be a real spoil sport consuming a lot of power.
HTC Desire U offers NFC capability which is the best part about the data connectivity features of the gadget. The Bluetooth, USB port, GPRS, EDGE and HTML combine as the remaining part of the data connectivity features.
HTC Desire U when compared to Samsung Galaxy S has a similar 4-inch screen with same resolution. HTC Desire U is faster as far as response time is concerned. Both the devices are identical in terms of RAM, internal memory and microSD card slot potential with 512MB, 4GB and 32GB respectively. Primary camera is 5 megapixels for both the devices but HTC Desire U produces much better results. Samsung Galaxy S has a VGA secondary camera but there is no secondary camera in HTC Desire U. Battery strength is slightly more with HTC Desire U with 1,650mAh as compared to 1,500mAh offered by Samsung Galaxy Ace.
HTC Desire U T327W Black Description
HTC has never been big on utility features but the company has shown signs of change in the recent times. As far as the design of the smartphones is concerned, there is no other company in the world that has done it better than HTC. But to imagine a HTC device with dual SIM facility has been difficult but the trend changes with HTC Desire U that has a 4 inch super LCD touchscreen. The 233ppi pixel density is a good figure but the resolution of 480 by 800 pixels is little low. With the dimension of 118.5mm by 62.3mm by 9.3mm, the device weighs 114 grams and has a 4GB internal memory along with a microSD card slot at the top of the device that can alter the memory up to 32GB. HTC Desire U has a 5 megapixel camera that produces handsome images at a resolution of 2592 by 1944 pixels. With tons of features that aid in difficult background circumstances to include auto focus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, image stabilization, HDR and panorama, the user can never go wrong. A video camera for shooting WVGA videos is also available but there is no secondary camera for web calls. The device runs on the Ice Cream sandwich operating system which is the not the latest what the Android has to offer. Therefore HTC loses its edge over other competitors in this regard. If this was not enough the RAM is also a little below par with 512MB. Even though the processor is powerful with 1GHz dual core processor, the above two specifications are some serious drawbacks especially when one considers that Sony has already out performed them in the same department. The 1650mAh standard lithium-ion battery is not a power backup but it does not deliver the best of talk time although standby time does improve a bit. NFC is optional with HTC Desire U but other data connectivity features are there that include bluetooth, USB port, GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hotspot. Internet is fast with HTC Desire U and lets the user download some heavy data too that may include songs, games, images and videos. The music player is boosted by the beats audio sound enhancement technology that works mainly with the earphones which can be attached to the device with the help of a 3.5mm jack. The music can also be heard through the loudspeakers in the formats of MP3, eAAC+, WMA and WAV player. Video player is provided too but no FM radio is there.
