Expert Review of HTC Touch HD
Throughout the last few years there have been a lot of companies that have seen their rise and fall with the Android explosion. But one company has maintained their rhythm throughout and that company is HTC. So naturally the HTC devices have certain value attached to them as far as brand credibility is concerned. But when it comes to a device which has long outlived its premium value, HTC might not be given that much importance. A Blackberry or a Apple may still have that aura about it but HTC, there would some doubts. That is exactly the dilemma one would go through with HTC Touch HD which has a 3.8 inch screen that works at a healthy pixel density of 246ppi. The screen also has the TouchFLO 3D finger swipe navigation and handwriting recognition technology to back it up which is a unique feature in itself. The RAM offered is rather less with only 288MB which does not exactly scream out a fast working device. In terms of storage capacity though, the device has a 8GB memory card that comes included with the device and the user can further enhance the external memory up to 16GB in case he or she finds the specified memory insufficient. Now since the HTC Touch HD is a little out of place in terms of its time of release, it would be available at a slashed price which is a good sign as the data connectivity features are really solid with the device with the GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB port. Some of the latest data connectivity features are missing with the device like the NFC capability or the Wi-Fi direct and Wi-Fi hot spot.
The bluetooth version is also 2.0 which is not the latest version of 4.0 and same can be said about the USB port. But for the price at which the device is available it is pretty decent. The camera department looks good too with a 5 megapixels rear camera along with a VGA secondary camera for video calling and web chatting. The quality of the pictures produced by the rear camera are not the best we have seen for a 5 megapixels strength but they certainly are not the worst. Multimedia features include the music player, a video player and a stereo FM with RDS technology that makes sure that the user can record the desired songs. The device runs on the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system along with the Qualcomm MSM7201A chipset, a 528MHz ARM 11 processor and a Adreno 130 GPU. Web can be accessed either through the Wi-Fi or the WAP 2.0 browser. Available in the color of black, HTC Touch HD comes powered by the standard lithium ion battery of 1350mAh which is not bad at all. Other mentionable features offered by the device include an organizer, YouTube client, Voice memo, Predictive text input and a MS Office Mobile document editor (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, PDF viewer).
