Expert Review of Lenovo A369i
The season of smartphones continues to flourish with no firm leaving any room for errors and constantly monitoring the competition and responding accordingly. The rate of release of smartphones this season has been phenomenal and higher than wht we have ever seen before. Lenovo has also got into the act with its A-series of smartphones with one of them being called Lenovo A369i. Lenovo A369i comes with a 4 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen that boasts of a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels.
An overall decent looking device that has clean finished back panel with speakers on the top front portion. The device comes loaded with dual SIM facility that allows two GSM SIMs to be used simultaneously in active states. This mid scale gadget has a 1.3GHz dual core processor and medium scale 521MB RAM that work together as a competitive combination. Memory department is also reliable with 4GB of built-in space and 32GB of microSD card slot for permitting more storage of loads of data that may include songs, games, images, and videos. There is no secondary camera with Lenovo A369i which could upset some of the potential users while the primary camera is also not heavy on pixels with 2 megapixels providing image snapping at a resolution of 1600 by 1200 pixels.
There is digital zoom and auto focus features for assistance but no LED flash, which is another drawback with the camera department. A music player always helps in providing access to the desired musical tracks whereas the video player also does its job well by enabling enjoyment of movies of desired content. FM radio is another element of the entertainment feature that the gadget has to offer. For more entertainment, the user can turn to Android Google Play Store that is a source of tons of games and applications and with Android Jelly Bean 4.2 as the software platform, the user would not miss out on any similar articles. Internet does a decent job in providing facilities like web surfing or downloading of data.
Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and HTML browser are the means for the same but there is no Wi-Fi tethering although for a mid carter device, to expect its presence would be optimistic. There are other data connectivity features too including Bluetooth and USB port. The gadget operates at GSM frequencies of 900 and 1800MHz for both SIMs. Driven by 1500mAh of standard lithium-ion battery, the smartphone is able to derive a decent standby time although the talk time could have been more. The multimedia usage time is adequate too.
User Interface and UI functionality
Lenovo A369i comes with 4 inches of TFT capacitive touchscreen that functions at a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels. Color resolution and accuracy are decent but there are lags at certain moments when the number of tasks being executed become intense.
Entertainment in the form of popular music can be accessed by the user with the help of the music player that Lenovo A369i provides alongside the video player, which is an apt source for watching movies in various formats. Loudspeakers and earphones work just fine in terms of quality as a 3.5mm jack is provided for the attachment of the latter to the device.
Pictures and Video quality
Lenovo A369i has a modest 2 megapixels primary camera. With a resolution of 1600 by 1200 pixels, the quality of images is satisfactory with respect to what one would have expected from a 2 megapixels shutter. Digital zoom and auto focus are provided for precision but the former is not of much help. Secondary camera is absent, so no provision for making video calls or having web chats.
Lenovo A369i does not have the most formidable internet set up but does give a reasonably quick web accessing speed for medium sized data. The user can make use of GPRS, EDGE and WAP browser while Wi-Fi can be used as well for exploiting the outside connections. No tethering is made available.
Internal and External Memory
The use of 32GB microSD card slot to full capacity would ensure for the user, to keep a huge amount of songs, games, images and videos without worrying about the space running out, which may well be the case with 4GB internal memory. RAM is of 512MB, which is not bad for medium configuration games.
Applications and Gaming
Lenovo A369i does not have many games that come pre-installed but loads of them can be downloaded using the services of Google Play Store as Android Jelly Bean 4.2 backed device is compatible with all the latest popular games and applications including Temple Run, F1 Race, Whats App and Viber.
Lenovo A369i banks on the 1500mAh standard lithium-ion battery to give a healthy standby time and talk time but only the former looks promising while the latter falls short. The user can get a healthy usage time for listening back to back music.
Lenovo A369i implements various connectivity features like Bluetooth and USB port for transactions of data with other compatible devices. Wi-Fi is available too for web access whereas GPRS can be used for navigation of data as well. The device supports dual band frequencies of 900 and 1800MHz for both the GSM SIMs.
Lenovo A369i when compared to Samsung Galaxy Star pro has an identical screen size of 4 inches but the resolution and pixel density of the latter is higher and therefore, give better color accuracy and richness. RAM is same with both the devices with 512MB and so is the case with internal memory and microSD card slot potential with 4GB and 32GB respectively. Both the smartphones lack the secondary camera facility but have an identical 2 megapixels primary camera. So, till now, most of the features are the same but when it comes to the software platform, Lenovo A369i is slightly ahead in terms of having the sub version of Android Jelly Bean as compared to Samsung Galaxy Star Pro. Lenovo A369i has 1.2GHz dual core processor while Samsung Galaxy Star Pro has 1GHz processor. Lenovo A369i lacks Wi-Fi tethering features but Samsung Galaxy Star Pro has Wi-Fi hot spot and Wi-Fi direct. Dual SIM is common to both the gadgets along with the battery strength of 1500mAh with standard lithium-ion. The talk time and standby time are more with Samsung Galaxy Star pro though.
