Expert Review of Micromax Canvas Lite A92 White
There has not been many tier2 brand who have risen as fast in the smartphone market as Micromax has, especially being an Indian brand. The company changed the pricing strategy in the smartphone market by providing Android smartphones with sharp and powerful features at an economical price thus forcing a giant firm like Samsung to come out with low-cost yet feature-packed smartphone, Samsung Galaxy Grand. This also led the way for other firms to follow in its footsteps like Karbonn, iBall, Celkon etc and produce formidable budget smartphones. Continuing on its path, Micromax has come out with Micromax Canvas Lite A92 which has a vast 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that runs on a resolution of 187ppi. The multitouch display of the device is not as smooth as we have seen in other Micromax smartphones in the past with some lags while multitasking. The look of the device is not much different from the ones we have seen from previous devices like Micromax Cavas as the gadget features a length of 147mm, a breadth of 77mm and a thickness of 10.8mm.
Mini SIM is accommodated in Micromax Canvas Lite A92 and with dual-SIM technology the user can allocate two of them. The hardware here is not as strong as we have seen in the past as there is a dual-core processor used instead of a quad-core processor. The processor clocking at 1GHz of speed works in alliance with the 512MB RAM which is again less than what we would have considered ideal, like may be 1GB. There is not much to complain about in terms of the software platform with Android Jelly Bean v.4.1.2. For snapping images and shooting videos a 5 megapixels primary camera functioning at a resolution of 2592 by 1944 pixels is provided that does well in outdoor conditions. Videos are recorded at a resolution of 720 pixels. A VGA secondary camera is also provided. Internet is well sought after with Micromax Canvas Lite A92 as the user gets Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hot post, GPRS, EDGE and HTML browser exuding a decent paced surfing capability and downloading speed. There is no NFC facility whose presence would have really made a difference but USB port and Bluetooth is provided.
Micromax Canvas Lite A92 is manufactured in two colors of black and white. The 2,000mAh standard lithium-ion battery sets off a talk time of up to 6 hours along with a standby time of up to 240 hours. The device gives a 4GB internal memory along with a microSD card slot that can accomodate up to 32GB of memory card. Multimedia department includes a music player, FM radio, video player. Apart from this lots of applications are pre-installed in the gadget.
User Interface and UI functionality
Micromax Canvas Lite A92 grants a 5 megapixels IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that imparts 16 million colors and a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels. The pixel density does leave a little to be desired for with 187ppi as the smartphone is backed by various sensors including Accelerometer and Proximity sensor.
Micromax Canvas Lite A92 has a music player and a video player that lets the user enjoy songs in the formats of MP3, AAC, WMA and WAV player and watch movies in the formats of MP4, WMV, H.264 and H.263 player. FM Radio with RDS is handed over too.
Pictures and Video quality
Micromax Canvas Lite A92 lets the user click pictures at a wholesome resolution of 2592 by 1944 pixels with the help of the 5 megapixel primary camera. LED flash is provided too at the back for capturing more light in darker backgrounds. Autofocus, Geo-tagging and touch focus are the other features given away by the primary camera. Video recordings are done at 720 pixels whereas the secondary camera is provided too for making video calls and web chats.
Micromax Canvas Lite A92 provides Wi-Fi tethering which is the most impressive feature of the smartphone allowing the user to make other compatible device access the web through its own connection. Other web connectivity mechanisms are pretty much standard with GPRS, EDGE and HTML browser. The downloading speed provided by the gadget is up to 7.2Mbps while the uploading speed is up to 5.76Mbps.
Internal and External Memory
Micromax Canvas Lite A92 gives a 32GB microSD card slot as a cushion to the built-in 4GB internal memory of the device. RAM is 512MB which is not elaborate but will keep the device working at a decent pace.
Applications and Gaming
Micromax Canvas Lite A92 bestows a lot of games and applications for the user to enjoy and stay engaged with. Plenty more are available on the Google play store sponsored by Android Jelly Bean v.4.1.2 although the 512MB may restrict the smooth functioning of some of the games and apps.
Micromax Canvas Lite A92 gains a talk time of up to 6 hours using the standard lithium-ion battery of 2,000mAh. The standby time carved out is up to 240 hours. Web surfing time is a little weak but music play time is long and substantial.
Micromax Canvas Lite A92 amasses a lot of data connectivity features including the Bluetooth and USB port that are sources for exchanging data with other compatible devices. Wi-Fi tethering is also provided. The 2,100MHz frequency is at which the smartphone operates for 3G network and for 2G network it works at the frequency of 900MHz and 1,800MHz.
Micromax Canvas Lite A92 when compared to Karbonn S1 Titanium has a bigger screen with 5 inches for the former and 4.5 inches for the latter. The pixel density is 245ppi with Karbonn S1 Titanium while the same is 187ppi with Micromax Canvas Lite A92. RAM offered is 1GB with Karbonn S1 Titanium which is double than that of the 512MB offered by Micromax Canvas Lite A92. Both the devices offer a 5 megapixel primary camera and a VGA secondary camera. The processor of Karbonn S1 Titanium is quad-core as compared to the dual-core provided by Micromax Canvas Lite A92. Battery strength is more with Micromax Canvas Lite A92 as it runs on the 2,000mAh standard lithium-ion battery as compared to the 1,600mAh power backup offered by Karbonn S1 Titanium.
