Over all Review of Motorola Moto X 16 GB Black

Motorola Moto X 16 GB Black Price

Overall Review

There was a lot of curiosity swirling around when two years back, Google had acquired the US based MNC, Motorola Corp., a company that primarily deals in tablets, computers, mobile phones, two-way radios, networking systems, wireless broadband networks, and mobile telephone structure etc. But now, the picture has changed for the better with the release of the latest smartphone from Motorola, the Motorola Moto X. The next generation smartphone has all the high-end features that one would desire. And Motorola, on its part, has played safe by opting for Android, the Google’s operating system. As we all know, the future is going to be of Android, for it is the lone open source mobile operating system which has crashed the market for Nokia’s very own Symbian OS, pushed BlackBerry to its limits (still BlackBerry is lunging to sustain its market), and continues to challenge shoulder to shoulder, the so called leader, Apple’s iOS. As Apple is known for designing world’s first personal computer, similarly Motorola is better known for introducing world’s first cell phone. Motorola had created history in the past, and with the newly appreciated partnership with Google, the history can repeat itself. Motorola’s Moto X has no precise design; rather, Motorola has come up with an interesting idea of design your-cell-phone-your-style. Motorola asks you to choose any of the styles given on the website and they will customize it for you. You can choose from the wide array of colors, you can choose your personal engraving, you can choose the cell phone’s front and back, you can choose the right size (memory, in this case), you can choose between the accessories (to match or mismatch), all by yourself. You might end up feeling you are buying Rolls Royce. Motorola Moto X is not a Chinese product, as it will be manufactured at Texas, USA.

Though the end user chooses the designing, the hardware remains the same for every Motorola Moto X. And, the touch screen bar cell phone boasts of a 4.7inches display with dimensions of 129.3 x 65.3 x 10.4mm. The beautiful device weighs just 13gms. It has unlimited variants, and every other Moto X will look different; but, on the basis of internal memory, it has two variants or sizes, that is, 16GB and 32GB. Motorola Moto X offers two cameras, a rear primary camera of 10MP, and a front secondary camera of 2MP. The cell phone runs on dual core Krait processor that clocks at 1.7 GHz. And the icing on the cake is that it’s 2 GB of RAM.

User Interface and UI functionality

Motorola has gone miles ahead of its competitors in terms of user interface and its functionality. With its latest marvel Motorola Moto X, the company has pulled the strings of UI based cell phones. And, with its latest “Touchless Control” technology, it makes a strong statement. The technology will surely be going viral very soon, and Motorola Moto X will be the culprit for that. As you say, “Ok, Google Now”, the screen gets unlocked, the display gets all powered up, and you feel that the cell phone is listening patiently to you, for it looks like you are talking to your pet (the more you talk the more it is ready to respond). As the cell phone gets unlocked, you can directly ask it to make a phone call, send a text message, play the music, go navigating, go Google, set a reminder, or to check weather. All these features shall be at your fingertip, sorry, tongue tip, with the latest technology. The touch less technology will not be sucking your money; as it does not require any data plan to work. By activating assistant, it will learn your style and accent so that, not everyone has the leisure to unlock and play around with your precious cell phone.

The cell phone comes with 4.7-inch AMOLED RGB capacitive touchscreen, which bursts out a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with a pixel density of 316 pixels per inch. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass thus, making your exquisite device safe and secured from scratches. The quad band bar style cell phone has got a custom-built Motorola X-8 Mobile Computing System, based on Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset. The cell phone is housed with a dual-core Krait processor that clocks at 1.7GHz to run the device smoothly. When the dual core processor join hands with a massive 2GB of RAM, the gadget turns into a real performer, and plays all HD videos and games with ease. Not to forget, the device has also been blessed with Adreno 320 graphic processor, which remains one the best in the industry to meet all your expectations. The cell phone has got Google’s latest operating system, the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, which is fast and fluid to work with. The Moto X comes in two variants that sport 16GB and 32GB of internal memory, which is enough to load the device with different applications such as HD movies, high-end graphic games and others.

Multimedia features

The prized possession is designed to work and entertain simultaneously. The basic multimedia features include the audio player that supports formats like MP3, AMR-NB/WB, AAC/AAC+/eAAC+, WMA, OGG, FLAC, AC-3, and video formats such as MPEG4, H.264, H.263, DivX, and DivX3.11 etc. The 3.5mm universal jack is there to cherish the songs with headphone.

Pictures and Video quality

The newborn star from the house of Motorola, Moto X, has got 10MP of Clear Pixel camera with LED flash support and zero shutter lag. The camera is supposed to grab 75 per cent of more light, and Motorola suggests that it will take you to newer levels of photography. This is due to the fact that Clear Pixel technology allows four sub pixels in one pixel, instead of the regular three pixels arrangement. It helps to take many shots in a jiffy. The camera boasts of features such as face detection, HDR mode, panorama, geo-tagging etc. It records video in full HD resolution that is, on 1080p and that too, at 30fps (frames per second). The secondary 2MP front facing camera also records video on full HD. The pictures taken by the cell phone are crisp, sharp, and vibrant.

Internet support

Motorola Moto X has got dual band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, along with Wi-Fi hotspot, and with Bluetooth v4.0 LE, you can transfer files at a high speed. Of course, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi hotspot, you can get other capable devices to access the net. It has got GPRS, EDGE, UMTS/HSPA and can access internet up to 42Mbps. The device provides some good connectivity options and is easy to use.

Internal and External Memory

The highly anticipated cell phone of the year has now been launched, and is available in two options of 16GB and 32GB respectively. The internal memory is enough to address a lot of movies, games and different kinds of applications depending upon you taste. Motorola Moto X also comes with 2GB of massive Random Access Memory, which lends more than enough bandwidth to run and perform high end games and applications, along with heavy multitasking.

Applications and Gaming

Motorola Moto X has been designed and customized to fulfill all your demands, and does hold up on its promise. The gadget, powered by Adreno 320 graphic processor unit works superbly when blended with dual core Krait 1.7GHz processor and massive 2GB of RAM. The cell phone works on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, which gives it the accessibility to more than 7,50,000 apps and games offered at Google Play Store. You can always cherish your desires with the latest in the store. Moto X flaunts water repellent coating on its electrical components, which gives you the peace of mind during monsoons. It also has 50GB of storage for 2 years on Google Drive, completely free. It features a unique feature named “Active Display,” which principally pulses your notification on the screen every few seconds when the cell phone is asleep. You can also swipe the screen and look into the content directly without unlocking the screen. Motorola has designed a gesture to wake up the camera directly without unlocking the phone and thus, have reduced the time from pocket-to-shutter, to 2 seconds. You have to twist the cell phone twice quickly and it will activate the camera instantly. The zooming given with the camera is immaculate, and you need to swipe your finger anywhere on the screen, up or down to zoom-in or zoom-out. To design your own Moto X, you can choose from a palette of 18 back colors, 2 front colors and a dozen colors for volume buttons and camera lens rim respectively. Motorola has also announced that by the end of the year, they will be launching a real-wood cover.

Battery Backup

A powerful and commodious 2200mAh lithium ion battery that runs the Android cell phone up to 24 hours in mixed conditions drives the Motorola Moto X. Keeping in mind how much an Android cell phone burns out the battery, it is a fairly good time.

Connectivity Offered

Motorola Moto X has been equipped with micro USB port with MHL (which helps in converting the handset into a remote control) and USB host. Also, Moto X has been provided with GPS receiver with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC and wireless screen sharing options at its disposal. The various 2G modes include GPRS and EDGE, 3G with UMTS/HSPA and speeds up to 42Mbps. You can stay connected all day long and avail good connectivity with Moto X.

Compare

There are a lot of cell phones in the market that are available at this price range wherein, some are good and others average on features, and you can’t compare all of them. But, Motorola Moto X has got some distinguished features that is only offered for the first time in the history of cell phones. The customizable design, touch less control, the assistant, and the active display option are some of the features, which you never heard of. So if you keep aside the hardware specifications which are more or less the same in all the same priced cell phone, Motorola Moto X emerges as a winner on its designing abilities, and out of the box software solutions.

Two years back, when Google acquired Motorola, people thought that Google had taken a wrong decision. But now, Google has proved them wrong with the launch of a new cell phone which is somewhat similar to the sage of HTC One. The newborn star has been christened as Motorola Moto X and has everything to attract the attention of the consumers. The latest Motorola cell phone is based on Google’s Android operating system 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Android Jelly Bean OS is fast and fluid, and comes with new and exciting features. Motorola has gone miles ahead if you compare this device to other Droids. Motorola has given people the key to their dreams, and asked them to design their own cell phones. You have to choose from the wide variety of back colors, front colors, volume buttons, and lens rims to zero in the right choice. Motorola Moto X does not sport a specific design and has asked its buyers to design the cell phone according to their individual tastes. They have to register to the website and the rest is self-explanatory. You can choose from an array of 18 back colors, 2 front colors, and about a dozen colors for the volume button. You can even match or mismatch the accessories supplied with the instrument. Motorola Moto X has got dual core Krait processor which is customized as per Motorola X-8 Mobile Computing System, based on Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset that clocks at 1.7GHz. The processor works silently under the hood and handle all the cores of your expectations. The superb processor when meets with a massive 2GB of RAM, can run over any challenge put in front of it. Motorola has blessed this cell phone with Adreno 320 graphic processor unit, which is one of the best. The device has got two variants that come with 16GB and 32GB of internal memory, which is enough to load the device with HD movies, high end graphic games and various types of applications.

The cell phone has got a newly developed Clear Pixel camera, which captures 75 per cent of extra light and thus, allows you to take pictures even in low light condition. Clear Pixel technology allows four sub pixels in one pixel, instead of the regular three-pixel arrangement. The pixel size is also bigger for Clear Pixel camera thus grabbing more light than a normal camera. The cell phone has “Touchless Control” that can be operated by saying, “Ok Google Now.” The moment you say these magical words, the screen automatically gets unlocked and the display brightens up. Now you can ask your cell phone to make a call, send a text, search for something, and navigate as well. There is a personal assistant application, which learns your accent and style, and later on responds to your commands. One more exclusive feature of the cell phone is the “Active Display,” which primarily pulses all your notifications on main screen when the phone is asleep. You can swipe the screen and look into the content directly without unlocking the phone. These exquisite features with all the new software and hardware will certainly create the hype and put Motorola again into the race.
