Nokia Asha 305 is a budgeted mobile phone that is running on Nokia Series 40 platform and is manufactured by the Finnish handset maker, Nokia. The Asha series by Nokia is specially made for Asian market as it is a potential market of middle and low priced phones. It carries a candy bar touch form factor and is free from any physical keypad. This is the first handset, along with Nokia Asha 311 and Nokia Asha 306, in the Asha series that has full touchscreen. The phones in the Asha Series are well doing in the market and this phone is going to increase the contribution of Nokia handsets in the market. This is a basic feature phone that gives access to many of those applications and features, which are available in many of the smartphones. Nokia Asha 305 is an easy swappable dual SIM feature phone that makes the usage of two networks full of fun and adventure. The device has got simple yet attractive look where the front has fully touchscreen with two physical buttons below the display that are used to connect/answer a call and to disconnect a call. The device has Nokia's own Asha interface on top of the Series 40 platform that is very much customizable. Nokia Asha 305 claims to be a better multimedia set as compared to its other siblings in the Asha series. The built-in speakers in the device are of good quality and delivers standard sound output. The phone has support for FM radio with RDS technology that automatically updates the name of the radio station to which the users are tuned into. The availability of 3.5 mm headphone works as an antenna to catch the signals for different radio stations and one can also attach speakers and woofers to the device as this 3.5 mm jack also acts as an A/V connector. This camera capture images with a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels has fixed focus nature. The focal length of the camera is 3.6 mm and the minimum focus range of the camera is 100 cm. The camera has 2.8 focal number/aperture and is loaded with features such as self timer, still image editor, exposure compensation, full screen viewfinder, auto and manual white balance, video recorder and landscape orientation. The images taken from this 2 MP fixed foucs sensor are saved in JPEG/Exif image format whereas many graphics formats such as GIF89a, BMP, GIF87a, WBMP, EXIF, PNG, DCF and JPEG are also supported by this feature phone for image display. One can also edit the image before uploading it on any social sites by using still image editor feature. Users can increase their photography experience by using still and video capturing modes various color tone modes like Normal, Greyscale, Sepia and Negative and Automatic, Daylight, Sunny and Fluorescent white balance modes add more fun to it. Miscellaneous Internet connecting options available on this device are EDGE and GPRS only and no Wi-Fi or HSPA connectivity is supportable on Nokia Asha 305. For local connectivity it provides support to Bluetooth v.2.1 with EDR and microUSB v.2.0. Since it is a simple basic phone so one cannot expect much out of the box.

Nokia Asha 305 holds an internal storage capacity of 10 MB with 64 MB for ROM and 32 MB for RAM and this memory is capable of storing up to 1000 phone book entries and call records along with messages. The users can also expand the external memory up to 32 GB with the help of a microSD card slot.

Nokia Asha 305 has a very powerful standard Li-Ion 1,110 mAh (BL-4U) battery that is capable of keeping the device alive for a talk time up to 14 hours and a standby time up to 528 hours. One can also enjoy music playback up to 40 hours and video playback up to 9.5 hours whereas the video recording time is up to 6 hours. This is the best battery performance given by any mobile phone in the Asha series.
Nokia Asha 305 offers connectivity to GSM network only for both the SIMs at a bandwidth of 900 / 1800 MHz for SIM 1 and SIM 2, both.
Nokia Asha 305 is a nice feature phone that is capable of giving a tough time to its other contemporaries but but to the lacking of 3G inability this phone does not grab that much market share which is expected out of it. The feature phones that are giving neck in neck competition to Nokia Asha 305 are Samsung Guru, Samsung S3770, Lava S12, Nokia C5 05, Nokia C2 00, Micromax Ninja A50 and many other feature and low cost smartphones.
