Expert Review of Xolo Q1010
In the last season, quite a few firms have taken the honors of having made some kind of an impact in the smartphone world. Micromax and Karbonn are the obvious names that come to mind but there have been others too that have moved up the ladder and have been able to capture the imagination of quite a few in the Indian market. One such firm is the Indian smartphone manufacturing company, Xolo, which is back with its flagship offer, Xolo Q1010. This gadget sports a 5 inches HD IPS display featuring a fantastic pixel density of 295ppi and resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels. The device with sharp edges does look classy. A formidable 1.3GHz quad core processor is provided under the hood along with a 500MHz GPU to make it a great bet for playing games and using high-end applications.
RAM of 1GB matches the expectations of Xolo Q1010 and smoothen things in terms of its overall functionality. The software platform chosen is Android Jelly Bean 4.2, which could have been a little more updated with Android KitKat 4.4 already out in the market. An 8 megapixels primary rear camera complements the 2 megapixels secondary front camera of the device. The primary camera does real justice to the 8 megapixels primary camera and delivers images at a resolution of 3264 by 2448 pixels. The rear camera comes with BSI sensor as well as LED flash facility. The front camera is a lot more conservative with a resolution of 1600 by 1200 pixels. The 8.3mm thick gadget has the facility of allowing two GSM SIMs to be placed for making or receiving calls. This dual SIM facility gets boosted by the presence of dual standby mode.
The gadget, Xolo Q1010 works well with 3G technology and provides high download speed of up to 21Mbps and an uploading speed of 5.76Mbps. Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and HTML5 browser are the means provided to enjoy web surfing. USB OTG and Bluetooth come together to provide the user data exchanging abilities with USB cable for the former and wireless for the latter. Full high definition videos can be enjoyed at 1080 pixels with the video player of Xolo Q1010, while the user can listen to songs through the music player. The memory for data storage is of 4GB to begin with, and as and when the user feels the need to enhance that space, the use of microSD card slot can be brought into effect to augment the external memory up to 32GB. A 2250mAh standard lithium-ion battery provides a hefty talk time and standby time.
User Interface and UI functionality
Xolo Q1010 has a 5 inches HD IPS display that provides beautiful images at a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels with a high pixel density of 295ppi. The gadget is smooth during swiping without facing much lag.
Xolo Q1010 has a video player that provides a fantastic movie watching experience and that too, in full high definition at 1080 pixels. Various formats can be used to play videos, while the music player allows music to be heard either through loudspeakers or earphones.
Pictures and Video quality
Xolo Q1010 is quite hefty when it comes to the pixel backup with a generous 8 megapixels primary camera and a 2 megapixels secondary camera. The primary camera snaps images at a brawny resolution of 3264 by 2448 pixels, whereas the secondary camera is a bit plain regarding the same at 1600 by 1200 pixels. LED flash and BSI sensor are provided as support to the primary camera.
Xolo Q1010 comes with a HTML5 browser that ensures a good downloading speed of up to 21Mbps. The user gets an uploading speed of 5.76Mbps, while the web surfing speed is between 32Kbps and 48Kbps. Wi-Fi, GPRS and EDGE are also provided in the web department.
Internal and External Memory
Internal memory is of 4GB in Xolo Q1010, the usual capacity for any mid carter smartphone. The microSD card slot is available at the top of the smartphone that can stretch the external memory up to 32GB. 1GB of RAM would work well with the smartphone to run games and applications.
Applications and Gaming
Android Jelly Bean 4.2 operating system is for us, the least attractive feature of the device. Xolo Q1010 should have been as close to the Android KitKat 4.4 OS as possible, but is quite a distance away. Still, there would be loads of games like Contra, F1 Race and Angry Birds for the user to explore along with many exciting applications.
Xolo Q1010 has a muscular standard lithium-ion battery of 2250mAh, which is capable of making the gadget active and alive for prolonged duration and thereby, providing a long standby time and talk time.
In the connectivity division, Xolo Q1010 has USB OTG port and Bluetooth wherein, the former looks after data exchange via USB cable and the latter, wirelessly. The device is well sought after in the Internet department as well with the presence of Wi-Fi, HTML5 browser, GPRS and EDGE features.
Xolo Q1010, when compared to Karbonn S9 Titanium, has a smaller display of 5 inches for the former and 5.5 inches for the latter. The pixel density is 295ppi for Xolo Q1010 as compared to the 267ppi pixel density of Karbonn S9 Titanium. Both the devices are dual SIM in nature and have 1GB of RAM. Both the gadgets have a 32GB microSD card slot, but the internal memory is more with Xolo Q1010 - 16GB as compared to the 4GB built-in space of Karbonn S9 Titanium.
The primary camera of Xolo Q1010 has 8 megapixels, far less than the 13 megapixels primary camera of Karbonn S9 Titanium. The secondary camera too is of 5 megapixels with Karbonn S9 Titanium, exceeding the 2 megapixels secondary camera of Xolo Q1010. Both the gadgets have quad core processors with Xolo Q1010 operating at 1.3GHz and Karbonn S9 Titanium operating at 1.2GHz. Xolo Q1010 runs on the 2600mAh standard lithium-ion battery, which is more powerful than the 2250mAh standard lithium-ion battery of Xolo Q1010.
