Lava has slowly tried to build up its reputation over the years but has failed to erupt in a way it would have wanted. Lava XOLO X900 is another smartphone from the Indian handset maker that has a length of 123mm, height of 63mm and thickness of 10.99mm. The device weighs 124 grams and has a 4-inch display that runs on a resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels and is backed by 16 million colors.
The device runs on the Android Gingerbread operating system, which is bit of a letdown as the version is far away from the latest Android offering. Lava has teamed up with Intel to provide users with 1.6GHz processor that clocks at a speed of 400MHz and delivers agile mobility for the smartphone boosted by 1GB RAM. This would also help the user in playing games and doing multitasking including listening to songs, watching videos, listening to radio, or surfing the web. Internet support is strong with Lava XOLO X900 by allowing the user to surf and download data at a faster pace through features like Wi-Fi and WAP browser.
The device also supports NFC technology, which would help in faster data transmission with other compatible devices. The camera is 8 megapixels in strength, which is more than enough on any given day for a normal user to snap daily images with great quality results. High definition recording is another great feature that the shutter offers with Lava XOLO X900, while the secondary camera of 1.3 megapixels enables video calling on the web along with getting some self-images. To store data like images, songs, games, and videos, a good amount of storage capacity would be required and Lava XOLO X900 does exactly that with 16GB space that comes built-in with the device. The 1460mAh standard lithium-ion battery powers the smartphone and delivers a talk time of up to 8 hours in 3G and up to 14 hours in 2G. Standby time offered is up to 14 hours while the user can surf the web for up to 5 hours in 3G.

Lava XOLO X900 comes with a 4-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display that is boosted by a resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels along with 16 million colors. There are various sensors which would come in handy while playing games or watching movies including accelerometer sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, ambient light sensor, and proximity sensor. The display swiping is fast, lag free, and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass technology against any kind of external hazards.
Lava XOLO X900 provides a music player that supports various formats including MP3, MIDI, WAV, 3GPP and produces good sound quality with both loudspeakers and earphones. Lava XOLO X900 has an 8-megapixel primary camera that does well in producing crisp and clear images at a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. A single flash provides brightness in darker conditions. The web browsing time is up to 5 hours in 3G while the music playtime is up to 45 hours. Videos can be played in high definition for up to 6 hours. Standby time offered is up to 14 days, which is huge.
Lava XOLO X900 comes with NFC technology that helps in quick data exchange with other devices that also support the same technology. Apart from that, there are always the Bluetooth and USB port features that provide data exchange facilities for content like songs, games, images, and videos. The NFC antenna operates at 13.56MHz, as the overall network of the device works at frequency bands of 850/900/1800/1900 for GSM.
Lava XOLO X900 when compared to Samsung Galaxy S3, has a smaller screen with 4 inches for the former and 4.7 inches for the latter. Samsung Galaxy S3 also provides a richer display with higher pixel density and greater screen resolution than Lava XOLO X900. Camera is of 8 megapixels for both the smartphones but Samsung Galaxy S3 is slightly ahead in terms of quality of images produced.
