JBL Jembe Multimedia Speakers Description
Till the time, the ubiquitous desktops and laptop PC's are around, the need for a good pair of speakers would always linger. With the increasing number of suppliers, the price of such speakers has dropped and hence, more people prefer a lesser-known brand as compared to the reputable one. JBL is not exactly a lesser-known brand, for they worked with Apple for providing compatible docks. Coming to the object of interest, the JBL Jembe 2.0 Speaker is a device that works through a power adaptor and not by the USB port. One does get the feeling that they are USB port powered speakers considering their size and loud sound. The Jembe satellites work at 6watts, which is a true indication of its power. The frequency output range generated by the speakers is also steep that is, between 80Hz and 20000Hz. The design of the speakers is unconventional to say the least, for by the looks of it, appears unattractive and resembles a bucket or a tabla (a musical instrument). The plastic material used in the outer cover further accentuates the ‘not so chic’ looks of the device. However, it boasts of a decent volume control that provides near accurate control over the volume of the device.
Although, there is no flaw in the device at the volume front, it does become difficult to analyze it minutely, with the speakers losing their grip, should the volume be increased beyond the 60 percent mark wherein, the music suddenly turns into distortion, and becomes even more prominent when the music genre is metal or rock. This means that whenever the music is bass heavy or the drums are more profound, the sound quality degrades. Still, the music that is a little mellow or light in beats is perfectly audible. There is no particular impact on a particular band frequency and the speakers in general, do well with lighter genres like jazz, soft pop and even soft rock. Now for a price at which these speakers are available in the market, one might get better options. Also, for such a price, the device is not exactly portable and are better off being used as speakers for movies or playing games.
