Expert Review of HCL ME V1 Tablet Metallic Grey
Although, HCL's portfolio is expanding, it has not received immediate success and in fact, is finding it difficult to compete in the tight smartphone market. The company is basically a laptop manufacturing firm which is now expanding to smartphones and tablets. However, the task is not going to be easy in the smartphone market though there is a larger opening for success in the tablet department. The credibility of HCL as a brand is above a tier2 firm though it still cannot be considered as an A-listed company. But it possesses the right technology and experience that it carries via laptop manufacturing over the years. HCL ME V1 is part of the ME tablet series for HCL that has been reasonably successful among the academic population of the country. The device features a 7 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen where the WVGA display runs on a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels.
The hardware is not the strongest that you would come across with its 1GHz single core processor backed by 512MB of RAM, which more or less can be considered as average. Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 operating system is the software platform used for the gadget, which is quite a bit far from the current Android version and thus, deprive the user from some of the latest games and apps. A 4GB of memory space forms a part of the device while the microSD card slot has the potential for the addition of another 32GB of external memory. Therefore, massive amount of data like songs, games, images and videos can be kept within the gadget without worrying about the space running out. For songs and videos, the user has applications like the music and video player. FM radio is another multimedia element that would keep the entertainment aspect alive for HCL ME V1.
A 2 megapixels primary camera is located at the back of HCL ME V1 that delivers apt results for snapping images at a resolution of 1600 by 1200 pixels. The VGA secondary camera has a resolution of 640 by 320 pixels for clicking selfies and for making video calls online. The Internet obviously plays a vital role in video calling and with facilities like Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and HTML browser, the same can be accomplished. The quad band frequencies supported by HCL ME V1 include 850, 900, 1800 and 1900MHz. Features like LED flash, auto focus and digital zoom also form a part of this gadget.
HCL ME V1 has covered all the features to access Internet such as Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and HTML5 browser. The download speed of the gadget is not lightening fast as we have seen in some of the flagship gadgets, but it does a reasonable job in any case.
Internal and External Memory
HCL ME V1 flaunts 4GB of internal memory and should the need arises, the user can add more data including songs, games, images and videos with the help of the 32GB microSD card slot. RAM is moderate with 512MB that has the capacity to handle day-to-day normal operations.

The game of Angry Birds remains the popular game for the user along with WhatsApp and other apps in HCL ME V1.
A 3200mAh standard lithium-ion battery is decent in isolation but there are other gadgets, which offer much more power backup than what HCL ME V1 offers. The user still gets a decent performance out of its prescribed power backup although access of Internet at times is more power consuming than any other activity.
HCL ME V1 is deprived of Wi-Fi tethering capability but the device does offer Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and HTML. USB port 2.0 and Bluetooth 3.0 are given as well to transfer and receive data from one gadget to another. The device works on quad band frequencies of 900MHz and 1800MHz respectively.
