Expert Review of Karbonn Ta-Fone A37 Tablet Black
The electronic market is again heating up with companies coming out with their gadgets and giving the users a taste of what they have to offer. The competition between Karbonn and Micromax has always been a stiff one and it would be safe to say that when it comes to the Smartphone marker, Micromax is ahead and although same is the case with the tablet segment, the margin is a little narrow. Another observable trend is that, customers are no longer satisfied with the notion of tablets alone and prefer ones that can be used to make calls as well. And if that was not enough, companies are now releasing dual-SIM tablets just like the Karbonn A37. Karbonn A37 is a nice clean and chic looking tablet that also has the dual SIM facility that makes sure that the user does not have to switch devices or remove SIM cards from a single gadget.
The device has a 7 inch screen, which is backed by the TFT capacitive touchscreen and offers a mediocre resolution of 800 by 480 pixels which would obviously fall behind other tablets that have technologies like IPS LCD screens to bolster them. Same thing can be said about the RAM which is 512MB, which is another department where Karbonn never seems to improve upon. They always seem to keep their RAM capabilities on the lower side which eventually does show its effect on the overall speed of the device. However, some of that is compensated for with the help of the 1GHz Dual Core processor which is pretty decent and cushion the hardware to a large extent. The battery strength, just like most of the other tablets from Karbonn is 3000mAh which is nice and gives substantial amount of time to the user to operate on the device. Internal memory of 4GB is coupled with the 2GB memory available for the users use should be sufficient enough to store loads of data.
There is still a microSD card slot that has the potential to expand the external memory of the device up to 32GB thereby further cushioning the device. Camera is of 2 megapixels and produces decent results, nothing extraordinary while the secondary camera is a little weaker with VGA quality and can be used for web calling and video chats. The device runs on the Android Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system which is one of the best parts about the device and gives access to load of games and apps that the Android world has to offer. Multimedia features include a music player and a video player whereas the data connectivity features include the USB port and the bluetooth facility along with the Wi-Fi to access the web. Internet can also be accessed through the GPRS and HTML browser.
User Interface and UI functionality
Karbonn A37 has a 7 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen that can be interacted with through the touchscreen facility and gives a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels. The quality of display is not great but workable.
Karbonn A37 has a music player and a video player thus giving the user means to access songs and videos. The music can be heard by the user through the loudspeakers or through the earphones that can be attached to the device with the help of a 3.5mm jack.
Pictures and Video quality
Karbonn A37 has a 2 megapixel camera along with a VGA quality secondary camera. The primary camera allows the user to click pictures at a resolution of 1600 by 1200 pixels while the secondary camera can be used to make video calls.
Karbonn A37 has the HTML and GPRS facility to access the web along with the Wi-Fi facility through which the user can access the desired web sites and download data including songs, games, images and videos.
Internal and External Memory
Karbonn A37 has an internal memory of 4GB while another 2GB is provided for the user's use whereas a microSD card slot is also provided that makes the device flexible in terms of memory thus allowing the user to stretch the memory up to 32GB and thus huge amount of data can be stored. RAM is 512MB, which is rather low and another 512MB like some of the other counterparts of Karbonn offer would have been helpful.
Applications and Gaming
Karbonn A37 has lots of games and apps that already installed in the device while the Android Jelly Bean operating system further gives the user licence to access tons of latest apps that Android world has to offer.
Karbonn A37 is powered by the 3,000mAh standard lithium-ion battery that makes sure that the user can enjoy all the features of the device like playing games, watching movies and listening to songs for long duration without his or her entertainment being cut short.
Karbonn A37 has 3G connectivity via USB dongle whereas the USB port is also available for data transactions through the USB cable or even for charging the device. The bluetooth facility is also available for exchanging data wirelessly where the data exchanged may include music files, games, images and videos.
Karbonn A37 and Micromax Funbook Talk P360, both have a 7 inch screen and the voice calling option but the latter has the facility of Wi-Fi hotspot which the former does not. The camera capabilities are again similar with a 2 megapixel primary camera and a VGA secondary camera for both the devices and the results produced by both are more or less similar too. The major difference that the user would sought is the operating system with the Micromax Funbook talk p360 featuring Android Ice Cream Sandwich as compared to the Android Jelly Bean offered by Karbonn A37. The RAM offered though is 1GB by Micromax Funbook Talk P360 as compared to the Karbonn A37's 512MB. Karbonn A37 suppots the dual SIM facility which the Micromax Funbook Tablet P 360 lacks.
