Micromax has gained confidence from the success of its previous launches in the tablet segments with Funbook and now banking on the same concept has released Micromax Funbook Alpha, which is another entry level tablet from the Indian manufacturers. The device released in October 2012 and has done reasonably well but in terms of the quality of performance, it still looks bleak and if the company has any intentions of moving up their game, then they would have to work really hard.

Micromax Funbook Alpha comes with a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen that works at a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels and gives 16 million colors. The device comes powered by the  1 GHz Dual Core Cortex A8 Processor along with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system with Dual Mali 400 GPU. The user also gets 512 MB RAM which makes sure that the user gets to access all the resources of the system at  a faster rate. The device has the dimensions 192x122x10.5 mm and comes with the facility of Wi-Fi which makes sure that the user gets to connect with the web even from remote locations. The user can then download data including music files, games, images and videos. The user can also surf the web, watch videos on YouTube or even download them. The user can also access all the popular social networking sites including Facebook and Twitter. The user can also thereby access his or her mails with the active mailing facilities that the device offers.

The device comes with an in built memory of 4 GB allowing the user to store lots of data but in case the memory is not enough, the user can further expand the memory of the device. The availability of a microSD card slot makes the device flexible and makes sure that the user can store loads of data including music files, games, images and games without worrying about the memory space running out. The device also offers loads of multimedia features including the music player that allows the user to listen to all the popular musical tracks that can be heard by the user through the loudspeakers or through the earphones that can be attached to the device with the help of a 3.5 mm jack. There is also the video player that allows the user to watch and enjoy all the latest videos that the entertainment world has to offer. The device comes with a 0.3 megapixel camera which is pretty decent but not great. The device comes powered by the standard lithium ion battery of 2800 mAh which makes sure that the user can enjoy all the features of the device without his or her entertainment being cut short. The device also has the USB port which means that the user can transfer or retrieve data from the device through a pendrive or any other device that has compatibility for a USB port.
