Adarsh Kashyap, if you wanna throw the background out of focus, then google for shallow Depth of focus. Mind it, for these blurring effects to work, the distance of the object from the background should be more than twice the distance between the lens and the object. The greater the distance of the background, the better is the bokeh effect.
Definately worth every penny

just got the camera from flipkart. As usual good service.
First thing that striked me about the camera is the good finish, the amazing manual zoom and the sheer DSLR like size. the camera is definately on the bigger side of bridge cameras. it definately felt like a DSLR in my hand. but the weight is not that much.
initial pics specially in low light were more than satisfactory. i havent yet explored the complete photographic capabilities of the camera. i will update about the same later.
the unboxing of the camera was pretty average. nothing special in packaging or the contents. but the battery charger provided is good. but the 4 GB SD card provided is of class 4. i normally prefer a Class 10 card.
EXR mode looked good, burst mode with 8 FPS felt good. the lcd display is crisp but can be tilted only along one axis.
Looking at the dial and controls and the software this camera definately has a longer learning curve than any sony or my previous Lumix FZ45. but the controls are logical.
the manual control gives this camera such a pro feel. I enjoyed the manual zoom and think it really differentiates the camera.
more updates Later
Feature rich SLR like camera at a budget price

The Fujifilm HS25EXR is really a gateway for amateur upcoming photographers.. it has got tremendous optical zoom capability along with SLR like functionality viz Panorama mode, red eye removal, face detection, CMOS sensor, 30X optical zoom with 16 Mega Pix of image quality. HD Video recording and lot more...
However, there is a dark side also which I experienced is my camera's ON/OFF switch stopped functioning after some 2 months, for which, i tried to approach FUJIFILM via emails for conveying my concern, but so far nobody reverted, flipkart people responded with service centre address etc which is in AHMEDABAD. Now, I have to take the product to A'bad for repairs and for that, i dont find time.. However, rest all the functionalities of the camera are working nicely... for switching off, i am managing with Auto Power Off feature.
Therefore, for product review.. I'll give 5 STARS for its features but 2 STARS for the after sales support... as nobody is bothered...
Awesome Fujiflim Hs25 .. Great..

Thumbs Up for this great product..!!! This gives me a feel of DSLR when I hold it with my two hands. Great Grip and very stable during shooting because of its comparative heavy weight.
1. Great Zoom
2. Full Manual Control. U can get a clear and perfect shot if you know the correct setting and if you have patience for photography.
3. Lots of advanced options..
4. Real low price
5. Best for serious photography...
I captured many pics even at 30X zoom without tripod, very clear picture can be taken if your hands are steady.
This is one great camera and the main attraction is its zoom power it's tremendous. I recommend this camera to all the photo lovers.
Near DSLR Experience.!!

I am amazed by the capabilities of my recently purchased HS25EXR. In my opinion this is the best choice if you want near DSLR experience for about half the price in case you don't care about shooting RAW.
Apart from its brother, the HS30EXR which costs around 2.5k more and can shoot RAW, this camera has more potential than considerably costlier cameras. I was in a fix whether buy this or the Nikon P510 but the latter lacks manual zoom which I'm happy the HS25 has.
The camera has a few cons like its sheer bulk (730g with batteries and card). However, it is convenient to operate with a decent grip and a flip-out LCD. Not much of a problem for young guys. Another problem is that it produces slightly grainy images at higher ISO's which can be negated by setting ISO below 800 and maxing the HDR at 8 Megapixel resolution or below. Manual mode is a bit tricky for beginners but eventually you'll catch up.
Now lets talk about the pros and there are many...
It takes crisp telephoto images along with great macros. The 24-720 mm range is more than adequate for a normal photographer. It is very versatile with its vast range of shutter speeds and photographic options. It looks like a DSLR, and with Manual Zoom and Manual Focus it feels like a DSLR too. Combination of Digital Viewfinder and Flip-out screen is very convenient as you can take pictures in a variety of positions with ease. With 11FPS 'blitzkrieg' mode for photos you can rarely miss an opportunity to take good in-motion captures.
Overall this is a wonderful versatile companion that would rarely let you down. Even if you get flummoxed while capturing any scene, the EXR auto mode always comes to the rescue. This camera is best suited for beginners who want to venture deep into photography without emptying their pockets considerably.
Two Thumbs Up..!!
Best Camera in this Price Range

If you want to have a camera with all features of DSLR, but in less price, this proves to be one. Honestly, I have tried many cameras at 20K price tag. Could not find one with DSLR feel in hand and deliver outstanding pics. Nikon is good at producing cameras above 30K, so is the case with Canon. All cameras of Nikon and Canon below 20K does not produce good quality pictures or lack features. Many of us in India think Fuji to be a cheap brand, but forget the fact that they were the leading photographic company for many years and have produced many good products and still are the professional partners for many image processing industries. Fujinon lens you can find in many Movie making cameras. This camera is awesome one with many features. What I like is the manual zoom adjustment, which is more convenient than a motorized zoom. No worries even if you run out of batters, AA size batteries are abundant any where you go. Over all great camera for amateurs for sure.

I bought this cam a few days back, and I've been waiting to write this review. I bought it from a store and at a very less price than flipkart.
To begin with, honestly I'm an amateur photographer, still on the way of learning a lot of things.
I love these background blurring effects and I primarily wanted a camera, which can perform such tasks.
In this case, the HS25 has disappointed me a little, I wanted original background defocusing(through lens). Although its Pro-focus mode(digitally altered)(Adv mode) is awesome, but I still wanted more softer backgrounds.
Now I dont know whether the fault is in cam's capability or mine. I tried my best aperture, macro, zoom etc combination.
1. The camera performs very well(more than I expected, still this experience is relative) in low light. Its Pro-light mode(Adv) is quite intelligent if you dont know much about exposure or you dont have a tripod.
2. The Zoom is fantastic, and even at 30x in broad-daylight, noise level was quite unnoticeable, even without tripod.
3. Many people complain about the build quality. I personally dont have any such complaints. And I even found the grip quite comfortable. Althought its lil heavy (637gms).
Some people complain about the battery compartment cover, that it moves a little.
Yes it does, when empty, but that is almost inconsiderable.
When loaded, its totally fine.
4. The controls are very comfortable and the barrel zoom is fantastic.
5. FUJI'S own EXR mode is fantastic, when you are totally boggled in twisted situations, EXR is the way to go.
1. Quite heavy - not very handy
2. Auto focus is really not satisfactory(as complained on many other sites)
3. Clarity is little comprising(still unnoticeable)
I toyed with my choices for about a month. I had two - Nikon P510 and Fuji HS25. The P510 Being little expensive.(around 3500 bucks).
I have used both and Nikon clearly proved its superiority when I experimented with its autofocus. Nikon's clarity was almost equal(few notches higher).
Still, I went for HS25 coz of its fast shutter speed and wide angle lens and its barrel zoom, and ofcourse its cheaper.
Still I would recommend Nikon p510 to anyone willing to pay a few thousand more.
In the end, m satisfied.
Worth the money.
Nice Camera.. Good before entering DSLR!
by Solomon Paulraj on 2014-03-26
The camera is very good with manual zoom and easily reachable controls. Effects are also very good and the provision for fitting additional filters is very good. Buy it before you invest in a DSLR camera.
More about the picture quality and camera experience little later after using it.... so keep watching this review.

its damn good for beginner photographer who dont want to jump to dslr but want start improving skills. zoom function hats off (only in exr, auto mode) once you switch to manual focus(background blur experiments) camera starts sucking. highly instable in focusing moving objects . everything is good . manual focus not great, but it will work good with very stable hand or basic tripod . good for casual photographs and nature photography due to amazing zoom
