Fujifilm Finepix X E2 Digital Camera Black - Expert Reviews
Fujifilm Finepix X E2 is an improved version of X-E1 and solves a number of issues that were found in the previous one like accidentally turning the exposure compensation dial and low resolution screen. Burst mode speeds and focus speeds have been improved with the camera, thus imparting a responsive feel. Split focus too has been added and manual focus improved, which give benefit to anyone who wishes to use lenses with an adapter. The camera delivers good image quality and brilliant noise performance, even at high ISO settings. The build quality of the camera is good and it feels solid in hand. The body of the camera is a two tone metal. The LMO delivers sharp images from the kit lens. The X series now has four bodies and the lens range has been expanded too.
Design and Build Quality
<span style=""font-size:" 13px"="">Fujifilm Finepix X E2 offers a shutter speed dial at the top and with it, offers 1/180 of a sec flash sync speed setting that was not present in the previous camera. The burst mode speed has been enhanced and the camera can now shoot at 7fps for up to 28 frames. Focus peaking has been put up in the specs list to help manual focusing along with digital split image technology that was first observed in Fujifilm X100s. Focus check can be done post photo shoot and the exposure compensation dial has been moved further in the body of the camera so that, you don't accidentally change the exposure compensation. Both EVF and screen look good when you are using the cam. The inbuilt eye detection sensor turns the EVF on, when you hold the camera to the eye to compose from EVF.
Focus and Face Detection
Fujifilm Finepix X E2 comes with focus modes namely, Continuous AF, Single AF and MF distance Indicator. The focus system is of hybrid type and involves both, contrast and phase detection. Autofocus assist illuminator is also available. The size of autofocus can be changed by 5 different settings. Focus peaking aids in manual focus and split image technology that was first observed in Fujifilm X100s is also present. The focus can now be checked after taking a photo quickly. The speed for focusing is fast and impressive over the previous cameras. The burst mode speed is of 7fps and after 20 shots, the camera slows down to 5fps, if you are using a Class 10 card and shooting JPEGs. Face detection feature is available too.
Lens and Image Stabilization
Fujifilm Finepix X E2 usually comes with an 18-55mm f/2.8-f/4 OIS kit and a lens modulation optimizer to ensure better image quality. The lens is resistant to flare even when you are shooting under the sun. Macro shots aren't there in most of the situations and the exposure is reliable in most of the situations and can be easily altered by using an exposure compensation dial. The dynamic range of the camera is quite good and features DR auto function, which adjusts the ISO settings all by itself when you require additional dynamic range. The distortion of the camera gets well controlled when you are shooting. The combination of lens and camera allows for catching detailed photos. Also, optical image stabilization feature is present.
Screen and Menus
Fujifilm Finepix X E2 uses a menu system that holds videos and photo options cleanly segregated over a number of screens wherein, each section is coded with color. There is an extra control panel that can be accessed by using a Q button at the back in combination with scroll wheel and a 4-way controller. With Q button placed at a new position, you can reach it easily with the thumb and thereby, easily setting options. The screen is 3 inches wide and holds a resolution of 1040k dots. To it, there is toughened glass and gapless design, so that you can take the camera outdoors without worrying to view it in sunlight. The camera is not much reflective and holds black better.
