Ricoh Pentax WG 10 is a rugged little digicam with an impressive zoom range. The camera is more affordable than WG-3 and WG-3 GPS cameras. This camera is water and shockproof. It lacks mechanical image stabilization and 2.7 inches wide LCD monitor and a bright lens. The camera doesn't offer inductive charging and location-awareness but still it costs half as less than the mentioned cameras. The camera can be even taken to the 33 feet depth in water. Not only this area is where the camera stands strong. It is shockproof to 1.5metres of drop, it can take weight of 100kgs upon itself, can withstand -10 degree celsius and can also avoid dust. The camera has been priced reasonably. Making it an affordable.

Ricoh Pentax WG 10 is all rubberized. The camera does a have bizzare shape that makes it easy to hold, when in moist and cold conditions. The screen at the back is a 2.7 inches wide screen which is bright and clear. The resolution is 230k dots and comes with an anti-reflection. Menu system has been laid out fairly. As far the battery life is concerned it is rated 260 shots on single full charge as per CIPA testing standards. Overall the camera can be a good beginner's experience.
Focus and Face Detection
Ricoh Pentax WG 10 utilizes a contrast based autofocus system. There is an AF assist lamp that helps to focus on subjects when in low light. The camera can also locate and detect up to 32 faces within the frame. The face detection feature also helps in providing a self-portrait assist mode that helps the user in uploading images to social networking sites. The focus modes are spot and 9 point. There is also an option of auto tracking, luckily. The camera can focus as close as 50cm. When in proper macro mode the focus can be 10cm.
