Ricoh Pentax WG III is one of those rugged build cameras that owe a long history to the company. The camera can be availed in simpler version and also in GPS version. This camera is Pentax's 15th generation waterproof model. The camera does have a very unusual design but undoubtedly, it does makes it the all weather. Both the version, standard and GPS are almost alike each other but there are three major differences. The key being the presence of GPS feature and that one of the two models can support wireless battery charging as well. Both the versions, GPS and standard come in their own color schemes, be it purple or green, which are for GPS model and black or orange for standard Pentax WG-3. What standard version features is 16.0 effective megapixels BSI-CMOS type sensor. This sensor features sensor-shift image stabilization system. The selling feature of the camera is that it is weather resistant, it is waterproof up to 14m of depth, it is shockproof by 2m, 100kg of weight cannot crush the camera and it is freeze proof as well by -10C. The focal length range of 25-100mm equivalence covers 4 levels of optical zoom and aperture range of f2.0-4.9.
The LCD monitor is 3 inches wide with resolution of 460k dots. With the GPS version you can avail compass, manometer and a tracker. The camera is capable of shooting videos at Full HD resolution, 1080p at frame rate of 30fps. At the front of the camera is an LED macro ring light. Design and Build Quality
Ricoh Pentax WG III on the outside comes all rubberized. It does have an unusual shape but it makes it easy grip the camera when conditions are wet and cold. The camera includes mechanical IS, image stabilization, which is of sensor-shift type. This technology is complemented by pixel-track shake reduction system. The pixel track SR corrects the blur after it has been captured. The digital SR raises the ISO sensitivity first and so shutter speeds while the video SR works by catching movie area window round the surface of the sensor to combat shake.

The detail remain sharp in most of the places but in remaining areas, the detail is very soft and most of it is lost at ISO3200. You can turn to ISO6400 but it would be best if you avoid it.
