Samsung MV800 Point & Shoot Camera Black - Expert Reviews
Samsung MultiView MV800 Point and Shoot comes with a 16.2 megapixels sensor and an optical zoom lens of power up to 5x. Its focal length range spans from 26mm at the wide-angle end to 130mm at the telephoto position, in 35mm terms. The videos are recorded in HD resolution with zoom noise reduction and all the stuff gets stored inside microSD cards. The MV800 packs some unusual and interesting features. The ‘pic in pic’ shot feature does what it reads, you take one pic, and it would fit another into that pic. The funny face feature means that you can warp, stretch and even bend pictures of the family and friends.
The face-tracking feature means the face that has been detected remains the same, even when you are moving the cam. Other features include - 3D Photo, Live Panorama, Pose Guide, Magic Frame and Intelligent Portrait. The smart filter 3.0 includes vignetting, cross filter, miniature, soft focus, old film, sketch half tone dot, retro, fish-eye, classic, oil painting, cartoon ink painting and zooming shot. The photo editor allows you to rotate pics, add effects, and crop distracting elements within the background, all done over the display. The beauty shot enables you to edit the facial imperfections.
Design and Build Quality
Samsung MultiView MV800 has its screen kept in the usual position like other digicams and feels quite easy to hold. The screen can move through a range of 180 degrees. It would have been better had the joint been movable as well. When the monitor is held completely up, it restricts the access to power button and shutter release. There is a button at the rear of the camera that allows shutter release but for that, camera must be switched on first. Other physical controls over the camera are playback and home buttons.
The rest of the controls can be accessed via a 3 inches wide touchscreen. The screen is colorful and bright along with a well laid out logical menu system. At almost all times, the screen is responsive except when you are scrolling through the menus, the device slows down. The MV800 can take pictures in about 2 3 seconds after it has been switched on. It is indeed quick at focusing. When you are in burst mode, you can catch full sized images at .6 frames per second. The motion capture mode captures images in VGA resolution at 6.5 frames per second.
Focus and Face Detection
Samsung MultiView MV800 offers the following focusing modes - Autofocus, Face Detection, AF Tracking, Multi, Centre and Touch AF.

The optical zoom lens has a power of up to 5x. When you view images in full size, you can observe the images to be sharp with good enough detail at the centre, yet they become quite blurred at the corners. Typical of Samsung's compacts cameras, the color reproduction is quite impressive. The minimum focus distance for macro shots is of 5cm.
Screen and Menus
Samsung MultiView MV800 comes with a 3 inches wide touchscreen monitor having a resolution of 288k dots. The screen is colorful and bright with a well laid logical menu system. The touchscreen is responsive though at times, it gets slow when scrolling through the menus. What makes the camera stand out is the MultiView flip-out 3 inches wide touchscreen that makes it possible to shoot from almost all angles and for perfectly angled selfies too. The touchscreen can be used to operate the device and be used like a kickstand for propping the camera. The camera comes packed in quite a small body wherein, you can also customize the screen with the wallpaper of your choice.
