Model Name Mahindra KUV 100
Long Description Introduction:Mahindra has never failed in surprising the Indian car enthusiasts with its unique products. And this time too, it did the same by raising curtains for its brand new beast, KUV100, which specifically targets the young lineage. Mahindra KUV100 mFALCON G80 K4 is one among the several variants that is powered by a 1.2-litre mFalcon petrol engine. Let us delve into its details further to know more about this particular trim.Pros:1.Ample room. Offered with additional storage spaces apart from the 473 litres boot compartment.2.ABS with EBD is certainly a positive trait for a safer ride.Cons:1.Absence of airbags, traveling might be a bit unsafe.2.Absence of a music system is one of its major setbacks.Standout Features:Space is commendable in this robust machine. The foldable rear seat along with ample head and leg room does add to the drive comfort.Overview:Mahindra is back again with its brand new KUV100, noted for its dynamic design and sporty looks. Released in 7 different colors, this model is presently competing with many market leaders. Talking about this particular K4 variant, is bestowed with a few comfort giving aspects like an air conditioner, steering wheel with tilt adjustment function, dead pedal and power operated windows on all doors. Safety elements are limited in this trim, which includes warning notifications on the instrument cluster, ABS and a collapsible steering column as well. Design wise, it is certainly a treat to your eyes. It is tall and wide in dimensions, whereas the muscular lines add to its aggressive styling. With magnetic looks, cozy cabin and excellent ride quality, this young SUV calls you for a pleasure trip.Exteriors:The first look of KUV100 is impressive with a few striking elements in all its profiles. With a bold front fascia, this young SUV manages to lure the car aficionados at the first glance itself. The trendy headlight cluster, which is slightly stretched till the front windscreen, makes the design a winner. This cluster houses bright headlamps and day time running lights as well. With an aggressive grille, sculpted bonnet and a dual tone bumper, the front fascia is indeed captivating. The side profile is unique with rear body colored door handles fitted in the C-pillars. The crease that stretches from the headlamps further highlights the contour of the mighty machine. Both the side mirrors and door handles have got a body color finish. The flared up wheel arches are distinctive and comes fitted with a set of 14 inch steel wheels. Also, it has snazzy mud flaps for both front and rear tyres. Moving to the rear end, one never ceases to appreciate its sharp body finishing. The dual tone bumper is well sculpted, while the double barrel tail lamps surround the stylish boot lid. Overall, the exterior design of this 'Kool' SUV is striking with well accentuated contours.Interiors:A step inside this cabin will present you with refined and stylish interiors. The cabin looks quite pleasant with dual tone piano black color scheme. This six seater accommodates three passengers in the front row, which are integrated with headrests. In the rear, it has a bench seat that comes with folding function. The upholstery used for these seats combine both vinyl and fabric materials. Meanwhile, KUV 100 beats its competitors for its intelligently spacious rear cabin. To describe the cockpit, it looks interesting with a contemporary design theme, while the sophisticated equipments further enhances its look. Housed on the dashboard are air vents, and a steering wheel that has tilt adjustment facility. The center console integrated with an air conditioning unit comes along with a heater. There are no air vents in the rear, yet it manages to cool the entire cabin. Unlike in other models, its gearshift is placed on the dashboard, which adds to the vehicle's ergonomics. Besides these, it has a cargo volume of 243 liters which is expandable upto 473 liters with the rear seat folded down. On the whole, its interiors are attractive and include several interesting aspects, but with a few issues here and there.Performance:Mahindra pushed the performance of this machine to the next level with the all new 1.2-litre mFalcon petrol engine. It is integrated with a multi point fuel injection system with dual variable valve timing. This drive train produces a maximum power of 82bhp at 5500rpm and generates a peak torque of 115Nm that ranges between 3500 to 3600rpm. Mated to a 5-speed manual transmission gear box, it distributes power to the front wheels. Performance of this mill certainly disappoints especially, compared to its rivals. The company claims that it returns a maximum mileage of 18.15 kmpl when on highways, and around 15.5 kmpl within the city.Ride Handling:This mid range variant is equipped with 185/65 R14 tyre set which do not contribute in controlling the understeer. To an extent, these skinny tyres may result in mediocre handling especially, during tight bends and in sudden braking conditions. The suspension system is quite efficient with its front axle mounted with an independent McPherson Strut featuring dual path mounts and coil spring. Meanwhile, the rear axle comes with a semi-independent twist beam with coil spring. This suspension system does provide a comfortable ride. On the other hand, its electric power steering column gives quick response and makes the drive quite decent.Safety:Mahindra KUV100 mFALCON G80 K4 promises a safer ride with various aspects such as ABS with EBD. Child locks on rear doors, collapsible steering column and engine immobilizer join hands in protecting the drive. However, this mid range variant lacks air bags, which questions the safety of its occupants to an extent.Verdict:On the whole, the K4 offers a decent ride by balancing both the negatives and positives. This young SUV works fine for the city roads, but if you're looking for something more exciting and powerful without compromising on the safety aspect then, you may have to go for other options.
