Those who complain either dont know how to use a Full frame camera to its potential or comapring it with mkIII. Its the best full frame camera in the price. No cons and everything is good in this camera.
The "low-light" champ..
by Dipanjan Roy on 2015-12-12
This is one superb camera....period. Being dismissive of this camera would be like trashing an entry level Merc or BMW as a piece of junk. This is the best and cheapest entry level full-frame dslr around and it really doesn't make much sense to compare it with makes which are maybe 30k, 50k or 80k more expensive. Though in proper hands this can provide stiff competition to some of the pricier models....but that's another story.
The best part of this camera is it's low light handling capabilities.....it really has very scanty competition in this area. Unless you are a super pro doing some extreme photography, this cam will suit you just fine and then some more.
Of course there are those claiming to be pros and trashing this actually great piece of equipment......but please just consider reading any or every review of this cam over the net......(some of the pickiest and toughest reviewers consider it good enough) or glance through some of the sample photos on the official flickr page.
Just add a 50mm, f/1.4 prime to this body and savour the results.......

the cost is too high as compared to the output,
does not justify the functions and the ease of operation.

70D is a Much better Option
Its More advanced than 6D and Full frame sensor is the only Feature 6D stands out what's the use of a Full frame censor in a useless camera

from the last 5years of my photography .this is waste dslr i experienced.waste of money to buy this camera.better to buy nikon d3200.
by Chris Ivan on 2015-05-25
Whether this kit comes with lens hood because the pic shows 24-70 lens with hood but the sales packaged details shows only battery, user manual and camera but its not mentioned with lens hood. is that only to impress the customers ?

Great entry-level full-frame DSLR - great for selfies !
by Edwin Antonysamy on 2014-04-11
I am a hobby photographer who's been using SLRs since 1995 (film), then migrated to APS, then on to DSLR in 2004. I like shooting travel photographs, particularly landscapes .. occasionally do bird and animal pictures.
I've had cropped DSLRs in the past (Canon Rebel XT and Canon 20D) and been wanting to upgrade to a full-frame. The 5D was far more expensive for me to afford. When the 6D was launched, the price was very intereting. I was very excited by the specs of the 6D, read a lot of reviews on amazon.com and decided to buy it. I bought it on a US marketplace site but wanted to review this for the benefit of Indian enthusiasts.
I've been exploring it casually a couple of weeks, reading the manual and trying options - haven't done any serious photography yet. Will update this review shortly.
What i liked so far
Full frame is awesome - I've had too many frustrating moments when my old cropped DSLRs used to capture a smaller frame than point-and-shoot cameras.
Sharp images - with a 20mm f/2.8 prime, I compared the pictures from this camera to my older one and the quality of pictures stands out!
Low light performance is awesome - even at high ISO, the image quality is pretty good
Wifi direct is a cool add-on; At the moment, the EOS app is able to handle some basic setting changes - ISO and exposure changes. You can connect your smartphone / tablet to your camera directly to control your camera; it works for single shots and timer-shots; you can frame the shot, get in the picture, review it on your phone and shoot. you can browse camera images on your camera, review and delete them; you can also share from your phone/tablet to email/facebook or whatever !
With my 20mm lens, I'm able to take hand-held selfie !
The price - it is 2-3 times the cost of an entry level cropped frame DSLR and in my opinion the price/value makes sense.
The additional shooting options - HDR and hand-held-nightscene are very interesting.
What I didn't like
One one cross-type auto-focus at the center, all others are vertical or horizontal
It very often struggles to get focus. I've never experienced this in my older models - this is a real problem; you'll end up switching to manual focus pretty frequently
There is no in-built flash - though I rarely ever use flash, it is always a good comfort to have one.
Video shooting is disabled when wifi is switched on. WTH ??? This is totally ridiculous - I don't see how the two are related and why they had to disable it. If you tried to shoot video when wifi is ON, it just won't let you. There's no quick way to turn it off either - wish they had a wifi switch on the body rather than as a menu option.. You have to navigate to the menu, switch off wifi and then come back to shoot your video - too bad if you missed your moment !
The EOS app doesn't support continuous shots and bulb shots. That's not very bad.
The EOS app could be enhanced to let you change a lot of other camera settings at least. Hope Canon enhances the app soon.
What I haven't tried yet
I already have a RC-1 controller but it is not compatible. You'll need a RC-6 which is a little more expensive.
There are apparently 2 variants of this model - one without GPS and wifi, so watch out while you're buying.
One of the best full frame cameras
by Abhishek Desai on 2015-11-29
Well I got this for 128000/- with 24-105 f4L IS USM,so bang for the buck
So the dilemma would be Canon 6D vs Nikon D610.
Please Note: Since this camera is Full Frame and it only supports EF mount lenses (which are expensive) compared to EF-S lenses.
where as for Nikon all lenses fit which are made for Nikon. So if you are already having few canon lenses and just planning to upgrade your body, make sure your lenses are of EF mount or else you have to sell them.
Or if you are planning to upgrade for a FF in future, buy EF lenses.
If you are looking for this camera, then you already know about photography.
1. Splendid photos, very very splendid.
2. Dynamic Range is very good.
3. Not as heavy or big as 5D MK III
4. Around 800+ shots in one battery charge
5. High ISO performance is very good. Even 5D MK III can't match
6. Connecting to smart phone via WiFi, transferring photos is @very ease, especially to share to Instagram etc, no need to transfer to comp etc
7. Best budget full frame for Landscape and Portrait photography (includes star trails etc)
1. Only 11 focus points and only 1 cross type, focusing is a big issue especially at night as all focus points are cluttered @ central place.
2. Not for fast moving subjects, lot of shots will be miss. So for 7D MK II for wildlife/sports photography etc
3. If your parents are travelling and you give this camera, you will have atleast 5% of out of focus images.
4. No Flash! though you can bump up the ISO and shoot, but flash is a flash.
Go for 24-105 f4 L as it gives good value for money, and good focal length
As 24-70 the one provided with this is of F4L, so you don't get much of it either.
amazing product and amazing price @ AMAZON
by Dr.k.Arun Arumugam on 2014-07-18
i got this product 20 days back. worth for its price. got a brand new in a sealed pack. good quality.
the full size sensor makes difference. i am also using 5d3. but low light pics are better in this. lightweight. it has gps and wifi. i use my iPhone and shoot pics. Very nice camera. will defenitely recommend.
by Manoj on 2015-10-13
The absolute best, especially at this price point. The low light performance is just amazing. Earlier I was using a Canon 500D, though a great DSLR I had to edit the photos to get the colours and the brightness right. But with 6D the work I have to do is almost nothing, just correct the brightness a bit. Pair it with an Canon L series or Sigma Art Series and you have a gem of a camera.

Stylish Camera with Excellent Features
The Canon EOS 6D 20.2MP DSLR Camera has a CMOS sensor, which reduces the effect of blooming that occurs in excess light. It also incorporates a wide ISO range of 100-25600, which is expandable and gives exceptional image quality while capturing pictures in dim light. A DIGIC 5+ Image Processor speeds up the processing system and delivers pictures with optimum noise reduction. This Canon EOS 6D features a 11-point AF, which includes a high-precision center cross-type AF point with EV-3 sensitivity that enables you to get better focus even in in low light conditions.
Capture Amazing Videos
Shoot brilliant HD videos like a professional video camera with this 20.3 MP DSLR Camera. Record live action with its 4.5 fps continuous shooting speed. Time code your videos during recording (Rec Run) or choose to time code them at all times (Free Run). The time coding helps in capturing multi-camera shots. Depending upon the shooting conditions, the Intelligent Auto Mode helps to detect the ideal setting for every shot. Another highlight of this Canon DSLR camera is the High Dynamic Range, which combines 3 images of different exposures to form one crisp image with perfect tonal setting.

Upgraded from a Canon 600D, which I've been using for 2 years and learnt ultimately to shoot in manual mode. I'm an amateur photographer and I love to shoot portraits. Spent the whole of this morning learning to set up the camera in manual mode. Then took my daughter outdoors and shot. Mama mia.... Simply brilliant. What a difference between the 600D and 6D. I am thrilled. Glad I didn't waste money on a 5D Mark3. I can buy a good wide angle lens for that difference..... Word of advise, if you are not a Pro, don't waste money on the 5D ;-)
Genuine product at unbeatable price.

All you need in Full Frame body
by Hemant Shah on 2015-08-14
All you need in Full Frame body, I was tempted to buy 5d Mark III instead but realized that 6d has much better image quality in high ISO, what else you need, and believe me this is true... I shoot at 12800 iso with my F2.8 lens and f1.8 lens on point at night in very low light and was surprised to see the image has very very less noise !! I'm impressed.
11 focus points (with 1 cross type) are good for most of indoor and non moving objects, and that's the only compromise but if you pair it with Crop sensor 70d or 7d II you will solve most of your photographic needs (and share same LP-E6 battery too !!) rest is your creativity !!
Excellent for outdoor work
by Navaratna Rajaram on 2015-02-26
I bought it after two months of research. I am an experience photographer, first with EOS film cameras and then with point and shoot. 6D is outstanding in every way, especially for landscape. I plan to take a 7D Mk II or 70D as companion on my planned trip to Africa for wildlife photography.
It is not cheap but worth the money.
