Incredible Zoom in a compact body...
by Joy Roy on 2013-08-23
After a long research over internet, I had decided to buy Cybershot Hx20v, but when I went to shop,I asked the shopkeeper to show me cybershot Hx50v, I get stunned By its looks, it impressed me so I brought this one home.. Its really very beautiful camera and its image quality is very nice.. Near DSLR quality... when i set it at 30x zoom, it gives me crystal clear images with out any noise(minimum noise) you can further extend it to 60x by digita zoom and then by 120x by clear zoom(Picture quality will be lower at 120x zoom) ,its optical steadyshot gives you blur free images at full zoom,i wish if I could post some images too... :/ , its low light performance is incredible, its EXMOR R sensor does the job nicely and BIONZ processor does it perfectly. its built in Wi-Fi function enables you to control your camera with your smartphone,and GPS enables to track the location, there are 16 scene selection like background defocus, skin softening,3D,Advanced sports shooting etc..its video quality is also very good, It can shoot full HD video 1920x1080 at 50p overall its a fully packed compact camera, price 23k is litlte bit high.. bt its worth, you will not regret after buying it.. jst love this camera.. love Cybershot Hx50v.

Was assessing this and Nikon P520. Decided for SONY HX50V due to size. Almost half the weight and very compact. Good results - for regular use. Not much of SLR features but for a beginner, it is a good value.
Drawback - the flash does not auto-pop, even on auto mode. We have to manually bring out the flash. Zoom auto focus is slightly slow.
Advantage - wonderful compact size, with 30X zoom. Good panoramic mode.
Will recommend for any user, who wants to graduate to the next level.
Had bad experience with Flipkart on this purchase. Regretted buying through Flipkart - ordered Black colour, received Silver - which is Rs. 1500 cheaper. Flipkart making all excuses...

Real world review...
Its the most expensive camera in its class.
Pic qulity better than any digicam bt dont expect a dslr result out of it and yes in some situations it can take pics like a dslr.
ZOOM the killing feature of this one is really good bt no one uses it in casual photography( i have experienced now). I only use it when i take pics of animals birds etc and real fun is when we play pranks on people who are far away from us, takes images of moon at 200x zoom seriously its fun to have it so, for some it may be useful for others its a must have.
Wifi transfer works great. Now no more waiting to tranfer on laptop via usb. just transfer using wifi on phone then share it use it...
Battery- 200 shots with flash so far the best in any camera.
Body and looks- its a beauty and the beast its lens is insanely long and thick bt seriously everyone keeps aside their device when they see sony hx50v.
No doubt the product is best in its class bt m telling you that when you use it you have fun playing with its so many features but sadly if you dont get time to take out the camera and dont use it frequently you feel that you have wasted your 20000rs.
tight And medium budget buddies go for under 10000 camera
For those who just want to carry such a zoom and play with it i recommend this device.
In short its a really good device bt there is nothing to shell out 20000 rs so buy if you dont have bugdet problem. It has that 30x zoom which makes it standout, nothing else. Photos are also really good but not that much.
Go for canon if it has such a zoom.

I was looking to buy an SLR camera, then I came across this model. I have been using this for the past month. I must say this is where I stop for my camera needs.
The pictures are so vivid and even in low light. I have seldom used the flash but the flash is very powerful and enhances the low light pictures very well.
The transfer to my Sony laptop has been a bit buggy, i am yet to figure out how to do this. It comes with a built-in wifi sharing and should connect well with the TV. Yet to experiment it.
Battery is decent, but could have been better. It is worth a buy for this price. But it is handful though, So you have to be careful in holding it.
Not amazing - but decent camera with GPS

Its a decent camera - easy to use. Overall, I wish I had spent my money on some other camera, and not got taken in by the zoom capability and GPS on this model.
- Zoom is good - though picture quality degrades at full zoom
- GPS is handy - usually gets a fix in a few seconds
- Not impressed by the colours in pictures - low saturation - pictures look a bit bleak
- Low light performance is worse than cheaper smaller Sony point-n-shoots
Maybe I haven't figured out how to configure the camera to get best performance - but I am used to a Nikon DSLR with which I get brilliant photos after making adjustments, and a small Sony point-and-shoot which also gives excellent photos without any tinkering. This camera doesn't quite seem to have the capabilities for tinkering that a DSLR does, and doesn't give out of the box great pictures like a point and shoot should. Its neither here, nor there.
Sony DSC-HX50V Advance Point and shoot (Black)

Very good product. Photo quality is as expected but the camera control via smartphone using wifi is awesome . very useful when you want to have a group photo without any outsiders help.
Camera carry bag worth MRP 499 (as printed in the pack) and a 4 GB class 4 memory card and a HDMI cable is free with this cam at the moment.
This product is recommended for those who can not carry the heavy SLR but want a high zoom portable camera. You will be satisfied with it.

Amazing features packed into a tiny body.. If u r luking for an SLR/DSLR yet a compact one, this is the best.. aptly named advanced point n shoot, its a camera placed in between the verticals of a point n shoot & SLRs/DSLRs.. the eye catching feature is the zoom it carries.. Also you would be delighted to c the low light pictures it captures(would love to attach a pic taken of a car interior with only the dashboard light up, with no roof light in an evening.. but sadly no such provision :-) !! ).. Its D BEST part of d camera...
Loaded with functionalities, it would take a lil time to get used to the camera.. but otherwise I am very very happy with this product.. good going sony..
N flipkart, hats off for the pre-poned delivery, which actually adds up to the excitement of shopping online..

Mega Zoom in your Pocket
by Mac Reviews on 2014-01-13
Sony HX50V is a 30x mega zoom advanced point and shoot camera with a lot of cool features.
Features,Pros and Cons
-> Ease of use.
-> Smallest camera with 30x zoom. Very Much Portable.
-> 3 inch 921k-dot resolution LCD screen, No optical view finder.
-> Good grip
-> Pop up flash
-> Fast auto focusing
-> Focal range 24-720mm - Ofcoz you cant get DSLR like quality with this zoom lens,but those DSLR lens with similar focal range are very expensive. The quality is not that bad,perfect for your social networking sharing needs.
-> 20MP BSI Exmor CMOS Sensor - Image quality from this 20MP is not as good as we get in previous models.
-> ISO range 80-12800 - Noise free upto ISO 400. From ISO 800 onwards noise creeps in. ISO 12800 should be avoided.
-> 10fps burst mode
-> f/3.5 at the 24mm wide angle setting and f/6.3 at full 720mm setting.
-> Optical image stabilizer turned on permanently which is a good thing for such a high focal range.
-> Aperture-priority, Shutter-priority and Manual modes available.
-> A lot of software additions like many scene modes,intelligent auto mode,sweep panorama etc available.
-> It offers a maximum shutter speed of 30 seconds in Manual mode, which is good for night photography. Ofcoz you would need a tripod.
-> Macro performance is Good. You can focus 1cm objects.
-> Twin built-in stereo microphones
-> Multi interface shoe - You can add an additional flash,an Electronic view finder or an optical view finder (all need to be bought separately ).
-> Built in GPS and Wifi - You can wirelessly transfer photos via free Sony playmemories app. You can also control the camera remotely using your smartphone.
-> NO Raw support.
-> Video support - 1920x1280 at 50p or 50i , 1440x1280 at 50i AVCHD format, 1440x1280, 1280x720 or 640x480 pixels at 25fps in the MPEG4 format.
Overall a great travel camera,but priced around 20K,which for some is quite expensive. This is worth the money if you travel a lot and are not interested in taking your DSLR everywhere or dont like carrying a big bulky camera.

I love this camera! Small and compact, great phenomenal zoom espc for its size. Haven't had it long so I'm probably not even using it right! One draw back is that if you use the zoom any where it's max range it can take a v long time to focus. However once I read the manual it might change. I still would recommend a tripod if you looking to capture wild life.

This is a amazing camera, I will say pocket size DSLR. Good picture quality, wifi sync/controlling through smartphone. At the highest zoom I am able to take crisp photos without using tripod.
I was about to buy DSLR but then due to their big size always wanted to avoid it. Really happy with my decision to buy this cam instead DSLR
Nice camera but have substandard low light performance
by Pooja on 2014-05-02
I bought this camera to supplement my DSLR when in needed as I can't carry DSLR everytime. This is so much compact but carries excellent 30x zoom. The camera takes excellent pictures when in good light however on low light it takes hell lot of time for each picture and produces substandard pictures.
+ Excellent zoom capability. Can zoom up to 250 meter distance without loosing much detail.
+ Super compact - With such big zoom, this looks very small when the zoom lens is closed.
+ Easy navigation
+ Excellent video shoot capability
- Sub-standard picture quality when in low light
- Extremely slow in low light, average in good light
- Small sensor size

Good products from Zoomin
Pros: Zoom, clearity
Cons: Features like Backgroupd Defocus does not always work, needs very accuraet distance between subject etc. to work properly.
