Brilliant camera, way overpriced in India(should be available at 60-65k after global price cut for this model)
by Sameer on 2014-07-27
There is price cut of this model globally, however Sony India keeps charging premium for this camera. Lets take example, Rx100(mark 1)is available for 500USD in US market and Sony India are selling it for MRP of 29k.Similarly I have analysed pricing of other models. By all means this camera should be selling at MRP of 60-65k in India(actual street price would be even less). However Sony India is playing a dirty game here(which is good for them for making profits, however not for loyal customer and potential buyer if this like me).If Sony needs to overcome Canon,Nikon duopoly in high end market, they need to price this aggressively. Keeping price complain aside, this model is truly a gem. Bravo Sony R&D.
Great companion for any DSLR

I managed to take this baby on a ride when Sony came to my city to show its line up and also hands on demo of its line up.
Coming to the camera. It resembles a super zoom like I have of Sony. But its not when you see the magic no. 2.8 on its lens. It can shoot RAW and and has an impressive frame rate of 10 FPS in burst shooting and the ever needed generic Hot Shoe that can attach flashes, lights, monitors and accessories. Throw in GPS and WiFI and NFC and you have with you is an able companion for your DSLR which is like having a capable body with 18-200 F/2.8 lens.
By no means its your regular point and shoot and while RX100 gives slight aperture advantage and lower cost but at cost of zoom too I feel this is a very capable camera.
For those seeking advance point and shoots Canon SX60HS costs little under 30K and gives massive 65x zoom and shoots RAW.
Price factor is a huge let down though. I thoroughly enjoyed using this camera hands on!
Amazon selling it for 60k-flipkart sells it for this whooping prise!!

Its very good camera, even though its small 1 inch sensor. 24 to 200[fullframe] f:2.8 lens Xavc-s codec in 24p and 60p. continuous focussing in video is not so great. but quality of the video is great, sharp and good colors, by adding some touch in post. Now my request to flipkart is please check the prises before entering into your catalogue. Amazon selling it for 15grand less the here after it went on global prise cutting.

Has an awesome build quality, yet to play with it though, Got an 8 GB Class 10 card, lens hood, lens cover with it in a sealed box. Also got a good sony bag from the seller!
Moreover on registering the product on sony.co.in you also get a free external charger! :-)

A Good fast camers for travel & walk around...
by Anil Bakshi on 2016-03-19
Carl Zeiss 24-200mm equivalent at constant F/2.8 lens & 1 inch sensor : is the value this P&S brings in. 20MP 1"-type BSI CMOS sensor , ie 13.2 x 8.8mm). It has a comparatively larger sensor and higher ISO with respect other P&S. Hence the price, for high ISO, wide constant F2.8 lens.
At 20 MP, this is further option to crop. Built-in 3EV Neutral Density filter, Approx 10 fps continuous shooting in 'Speed Priority mode', 1080/60p video with full-sensor sampling, uncompressed HDMI output Wi-Fi with NFC : make it valuable for a walk around camera for me on the move. No additional accessories.

Wtf would I buy this... ..!!!! I have been using dsc-h300 from years. .. And leaving the ccd sensors image quality.. Everything is quite fine. . And now I'm to upgrade... Seeing the price I thought it would at least have a aps-c.... But it has not even. .. Actually it has nothing... My upgrade will be Sony a68 when it would come India.. .
