Authentic beast!! Wanted 16GB
by Abhinav Y. on 2015-10-03

Prices dropped right now (74k) !! But once up on a time they are costlier(78-86k).
I was skeptical in buying ..thinking they are gonna sell a refurbished laptop.

Most people have talked about its performance and there are tonnes of reviews online , since ethics is such a famous product.

All I would like to say for fellow programmers is to get this beast and life becomes simpler , faster, easier and colourful.
You can Multi-Touch,Multi-Taskwith this beast.

Instead of buying Dell/HP windows laptops for 60-70k with 3Ghz speed and 8Gb RAM the performance in MBP beats any of that.
My need was for high computing machine I can use to multi task various day to day activities without facing any troubles.
My Initial option was an assembled Desktop, but boy they do cost a fortune and non-portable, difficult to maintain (faulty configurations).

Even if the OS underlying doesn't matter for you , buy MBP for its Hardware, I am in love this force trackpad ( from 2015 versions). The Hardware is configured to run Mac OS and so I would advice not to run Windows or Linux using parallels , bootcamp or VM. I f u have some proprietary software only available in windows I would ask you to buy an 256/512Gb version for an extra $200 (12,000) for which u will get 4Tb storage externally.
Try to find alternatives for every software u used in windows. Although I tried I still miss a few like IDM ( no working download mangers in OS X, They are not capturing live links from shortening sites or ftp servers )

Amazon is the best place to buy MBP, Me and my friends bought it from KIDA dealer, Although I previously purchased few apple products from cloud tail. I think 74k is the best price at the moment, unfortunately I paid few bucks more.

OSX has assistant to transfer from old MAC / Windows laptops via Wifi Network. If both are connected in same wifi network it will finish in couple of minutes, select the folders you want.

I suggest do not buy macbook Air or older Versions of MBP (Mid 2012 or 2014) models being sold. They do not have SSD or higher RAM and it will be detterent if u wanna upgrade to newer version. As I am righting this my MBP is being upgraded from Yosemite to EI Capitan.

Check warranty as soon as u receive the laptop and the system reports and monitor the battery lifecycle. The only thing I regret is I couldn't upgrade it to 16Gb RAM as in India Apple doesn't allow upgradation during purchase and its not possible after purchase anywhere.

Once you are an MBP user u will always be and I can afford to be.
People purchase iPhone fro 60k and come up with million of reason and not buy MBP. In my opinion both iPad and iPhone have good replacement but an MBP doesn't.

As a marketing strategy apple sells large number of MBP 128Gb models and hopes these user are permanently moved to OS X and as their requirements grow the prices go too!! so be careful when u shell out those extra bucks for higher end versions.

Once you go Mac , you'll never go back!
by Pranav Nakashe on 2016-04-14

Intro ( can skip to short or long review! ) :
The now expanded MacBook lineup has always been one of the best choices for almost everyone. But the one series of laptops that distinguished Apple MacBooks from the rest , has to be the MacBook Pro. The current MF839 follows the legacy. A complete and fluid experience of the OS X El Capitan , enhanced by a futuristic trackpad and a display like no other , all in a relatively lightweight notebook with all day battery. Yep , thats the best summary of this amazing notebook.

One might argue that the specs of this MacBook are relatively average, and to be honest, its true to an extent. But Apple's mantra has always been the opposite of others. Its not the high spec notebook thats gonna let you play Call of Duty at 100FPS , but the one that gets the work done , everytime. If your gaming expectations are anything beyond CS:GO and they're a priority , I'd suggest you go for a gaming laptop like the ROG from Asus.

This notebook is for your everyday work , professional work and/or if you're a user of professional Apple apps like Final Cut Pro X , Motion or Logic Pro X. Yep. But no matter what purpose you get the MacBook for, once you get it , you'd never want to look back. Trust me, the OS X experience, is just addicting! Something special , that Windows fails to provide. The hardware and software work in harmony, it all works in chorus , like a dream!
You'll only know if you get to use one, but trust me, once you go Mac , you'll never go back! :P

Short Review ( Several points in this short review are explained in the full review! ) :
+ Fast , lag free experience of the excellent OS X El Capitan.
+ Quick start ups thanks to the PCIe flash storage.
+ A beautiful and crisp Retina Display makes things look life like.
+ Responsive and futuristic Force Touch Trackpad.
+ Good battery life ( 14 hours of daily usage or 5 hours straight on FCP X , working on 1080p files ).
+ HDMI Port and MiniDisplay Ports for output which can go to 4K resolutions.
+ Runs FCP X with ease ( though I haven't still done the very serious parts on this yet , neither have I used Motion ).
+ Great inbuilt sound card ( it is on par with a FiiO K1 , except the K1 has more bass )

- Poor Front Camera , not the best for FaceTime :(
- Poor speakers , not what you'd expect from such a brilliant laptop with such a good inbuilt audio source.
- Limited wired connectivity. Only 2 USB Ports! ( Sorry Apple , no one uses Thunderbolt yet! ).
- No LAN port and CD writer ( I had to be the guy to say this! Guess I am still stuck in 2011 XD )

Full Review :

The exteriors :
Open the box! You're greeted with the Mac wrapped in plastic. Remove. Open the notebook and voila! A clear , black , mirror like display , that promises an epic experience! You'd probably end up looking at the Mac for minutes if not hours! And why not ? A sleek , much lighter aluminium body ( compared to my previous Mid 2010 MBP ) that is too lightweight yet sturdy and hard enough to smack a skull, you'd probably think why anyone wants any lighter!
The keys have a hard feel while the trackpad is pretty much like glass , on aluminium! The curves on this thing though! Brilliant...
On the left are your more likely to be used like ports like the MagSafe 2 , a USB 3.0 port and the 3.5mm headphone jack. Oh! There's also the the Thunderbolt 2.0 port that you're gonna use to connect the MBP with a DisplayPort Display if at all! I won't joke on the Thunderbolt 2.0 port , but it is ignored harder by everyone than physics is by Rohit Shetty. Anyways , on the right is the second USB 3.0 port , a much needed HDMI 1.4a port and a SDXC card reader ( which can be used to read cards or expand your MBP's storage ). The MBP is perfect for using on lap , not heavy at all!
It probably is pretty sturdy like I said! You could definitely use it to smack the guy who stains this piece of mechanical beauty.

Indeed , it feels like a 90k notebook!

The Interiors :
Apple has never failed to depress me with its relatively mediocre spec sheet. A 2.7GHz Dual Core Core i5 , 8GB RAM and Integrated graphics for nearly 90k ? :/
But still you do get a lag free experience on everything you do. Be it browsing , watching videos , working on some docs , light gaming ( no more than CS:GO tbh ) , rendering on Blender , editing on FCP X and pretty much anything you could think of , so I guess thats granted! The USB transfer rates are snappy! Also it does charge my OnePlus Two at a rate comparable to a 1.5A charger , which is impressive since most laptops fail to really charge your phone for real.
The Dual Core i5 doesn't disappoint , neither does it surprise. It just performs well enough. Final Cut Pro X goes pretty well. It has been so far , and I doubt it'll slow down even if I go for 4K! The 8GB RAM is pretty much enough for multitasking and my essential , FCP X. The integrated Iris 6100 GPU does a good job as well. I haven't done much to stress it on FCP but I think it'll handle whatever I can throw at it. As for gaming , CS:GO does work well but don't even think of trying any new game , you'll be bitterly disappointed :( Check NotebookCheck if you need a detailed check on GPU performance.
The Battery is indeed all day! It goes on for nearly 14 hours on basic usage and 5-6 hours while running FCP X. However I won't go in much detail , because everyone has different uses and different parameters. I will just say the battery is highly unlikely to disappoint you unless you've got any unrealistic expectations....

Everything suggests a logic board that gives you much more than mere numbers on spec sheets unless you're gaming! For a 90k notebook , the MF839 may not seem impressive , but its performance surely is impressive!

Display :
They call it the Retina Display. That alone gives you a hint that this display is no joke! The MF839 has 13.3" 2560x1600p display. That's more than your FHD TV. Yes , it is. What is more impressive , is the colour reproduction and the way how everything just looks. Life like. Literally. The OS X experience is vastly enhanced thanks to the amazing visuals the Retina Display provides. I intend to use my MF839 for some serious editing on Final Cut Pro , and this display just eliminated the need for any external display for any reason whatsoever! It is on par with my Dell U2414H if not better! ( and let me tell you , the U2414H is one of the best monitors there is! )
What is a little annoying , is the OS X works at a resolution around 1600p ( Although OS X will tell you its like 1280x800p which is DUMB! ) But when I tried Windows 8.1 on 1600p , it just made things too small. I lowered the resolution a bit and it worked!
Also , the OS X doesn't let you have much control ( at least not El Capitan ) of resolution. You have 4 options on Scaled resolution , which is insane. Why can't Apple let me do what I want !? You're not my mom :|

Overall , the Retina Display is the best there is in the market on a 13 inches notebook. Undoubtedly.

Speakers and Sound ( A better insight ) :
One thing that particularly impresses me is the inbuilt audio. The MF839 managed to take my Audio Technica M50x nearly to their full potential without any external source. I didn't even need to use my amplifier! I , however did compare its internal audio with the K1 from FiiO ( a USB DAC + Headphone Amplifier ). Surprisingly , the MF839 almost was at par with the impressive K1 ( except for a lack of Bass , which I did expect given the K1 has a dedicated amplification chip ) It doesn't do as good as the FiiO A3 though! But thats granted because headphones like the M50x demand a whole lotta power.
The speakers , on the other hand , are not as good to be honest. They are loud and vocals seem clear , but there's almost zero bass and no instrumental sound is reproduced good enough.... It's good enough to watch movies and maybe listen to music at times , but you probably will prefer an external speaker or headphones instead!
Another disappointment is there is no equaliser anywhere in OS X. So you've gotta adjust the iTunes equaliser instead. It sucks because we can't change the settings while watching movies or working on FCP X , you've gotta stick to the flat settings.

The speakers are a let down and the software only makes it worse. But the inbuilt audio card does an amazing job on headphones.

Connectivity ( Wired and Wireless ) and Storage :
Lets start with the Wired things. There ain't much of them though! Only two USB 3.0 ports , but they're pretty much good ( as I mentioned before ).
No more Thunderbolt jokes , but it literally was like one. It scared everyone , only for a few moments. The classic MagSafe 2 port , what can I say !? It saves Macs and along with them , money , friendships , relations and lives as well! I do miss an actual CD writer and I could surely use more USB 3.0 ports , but I guess that is just me.
Wireless connectivity has all the useful things ( so no NFC ) like BT and Wi-Fi. Both have pretty good receivers and I could actually find almost 4 or 5 Wi-Fi networks on my Mac that I never knew existed in my building! It is that good.
Storage is one of the things that annoys me though. The MF839 is a 90k notebook and nothing justifies its 128GB storage. I mean really ? At least 180GB guys! Anyways , most of my apps fit in and I have 50+ GBs of space as I keep no project files on my Mac ( except the ones I am currently working on ). But here's where the SDXC port comes into play! You can use it to expand your storage via an SDXC card or one of Transcend's JetLite Expanders ( 330 series for this model ). They are good enough to store readable files ( like photos , videos , documents , etc ) so you're left with 120GB of space for apps only!
Do know that you get 120GB as mentioned! No less , no more! OS eats up some though!

As a futuristic notebook , the MacBook looks to reduce the tangling wires but leaves users cringing for expansive options!

Trackpad and Keyboard :
The Force Touch Trackpad , is something from the future. Seriously , its that good! It is the combination of a magnificent surface , brilliant sensors and nearly realistic haptic feedback. It is the best you can possibly have for now! The haptic feedback especially , because the motors give you the vibration that exactly feels like the trackpad is going in when you press it! Apply a little more force and a slightly stronger feedback makes you feel you've pressed it even more down. You actually wouldn't believe that the trackpad doesn't go down at all ( Sorry , no spoiler alert ) unless you turn of the Mac! Two levels of pressure enable a whole lotta new things and there's even gestures although I don't use them because duh!
The Keyboard has a hard feel on it. There's nearly zero lag and the keys are silent , yet responsive. The backlight keys make it easier to work at night. However do know that the keyboard has received mixed reviews. Some applauded the strokes while some were annoyed by the low height of keys.

The Force Touch Trackpad steals the show. You'd have to feel it to feel it!

Conclusion : At 90k , this particular MF839 is pretty much the laptop for anyone looking to work on Apple Pro Apps. Also for anyone who can spend the money , I'd suggest to go for it. You will not be disappointed!

Which Mac to pick ?
MacBook : If you want tablet portability with the Mac features , I'd suggest the MacBook It's great for all normal daily usage and it can work with Pro Apps. But, the Pro beats the MacBook all day. If the portability factor is that important for you , go for the MacBook , else the Pro is the way to go.
MacBook Air : If the retina display and added performance aren't your priorities or if you want to work on Pro Apps ( especially FCP and Motion ) using an external display , get the Air. But honestly , I'd still recommend the Pro as it overall is more versatile.

Thanks for reading, and I hope I helped you! Do hit the Yes button if I did!

Good Battery life & Excellent Performance (HONEST REVIEW)
by Abraham JOSEPH on 2015-09-03

This is my second device from Apple. In the past i have used a bunch of laptops and usually switch them after a year and so.Mostly i bought products from HP and lenovo. The last one was Lenovo Ideapad Y510,which was kind of a good device but bad battery life for a traveller like me.
So, the main reason i bought the macbook pro was the good battery life and excellent performance it offered.

Now lets talk in detail

Yes,its a gorgeous looking device, with premium build quality. Its very light weight and thin for sure. So, perfect to carry around. The unibody design, carved out of a single piece of brushed aluminium gives this device a firm yet incredibly light-weight feel, with a huge track-pad which is powerful and versatile. The "force" part means pressing the track pad harder will activate different features. But as of now there are only few apps that can take that advantage.
Expansion ports:
-MagSafe 2 power port
-Two Thunderbolt 2 ports (up to 20 Gbps)
-Two USB 3 ports (up to 5 Gbps)
-HDMI port
-Headphone port
Apple hardware is more expensive than the equivalent running Windows, but you do get what you pay for.

Thrilled !!---- absolutely----- beautiful.Clear and crisp.-----Best so far.

GeekBench score - 7,001 (compared to 6,303 of previous generation and 6,057 of MacBook Air). But i hope, you guys know that benchmarks may not be enough to show the real world usage performance. As of my usage Everything feels very fast, including bootup time(14 sec), app startup, running apps and all.The fast SSD storage in the new Pro machine is also capable of transferring data 1GB per second.
Gaming-It will handle pretty much every game you throw in,But i won't say its the best device for gaming.

As of Apple says, this laptop offers 10hours of battery backup.Which is somewhat similar to what I'm getting.I reckon you should be able to take this on a long flight ,road trip or long train journey without any problems. And at the end of the day ,there will still be life in this device.Which was something i love about Mac devices.
But it doesn't mean you will also get the same battery backup as mine because battery life is dependent on what you're using the computer for.
I guess if you use this only for gaming then you would roughly get 4 hours and so.So,technically you will become a frequent Wall Hugger. :)
All in all its the best backup i have ever got in comparison to every other laptop i used.

Sound QUALITY is really good.Though not as good as i expected The built-in speakers output good quality sound. But increasing the volume to MAX will result in a lil muffling. So,i do recommend a premium Bluetooth speaker for better experience and bass.

#-Final Cut (not the editor lol)and CONCLUSION

This is a great laptop for those who want a great combination of good battery life and excellent performance. And those who need the advantage of iMovie and Final Cut Pro for some video editing stuff.
Actually i was stuck with dell xps 13 and this one. Finally ended up buying the Apple product.
Also with macbook you get superior after sales support. You would surely love this lapotop unless you get the faulty product.

I hope it helps

So I feel this is a good time to write a review,Genuine and Balanced.
by rahul bunty on 2016-03-09

Hi,I bought this laptop in September 2015 for 74500 rupees. So I feel this is a good time to write a review.First of all I got it for a good price without any promotion code.I checked in apple stores back then and no-one gave it for less than 80000 rupees. At first I hesitated to buy it online as it is a costly product and apple store employees warned me of no warranty for online purchase. But its all trash talk.I went on with purchase with out any doubts as it is amazon fulfilled and the product i received was genuine and i registered it in apple website also.I got it in very good, lets put it this way, excellent packing of 3 is apple packaging, second the box they imported it in,third by amazon itself with bubble packets in between.

Coming to laptop I don't want to talk about design and size as you would have seen many videos.Retina display is beautiful as you can't see any individual pixels and booting time is around 7-8 seconds.I come from Lenovo B460. It died on me after serving for 5 years and used to take 2 min to boot.Shut down is around 4-5 seconds.Speakers are so good in this laptop,Unless if you are not an audiophile there is no need for speakers,Very good engineering.Backlight keyboard is nice option during night.Coming to force touch trackpad, there are many doubts among people about this, actually this is a good feature as you can click it anywhere on the touchpad easily and its uses differ from person to person, but to me its a good option and trackpad is excellent, nothing to complain there .What else, yeah almost forgot about the best feature battery, its awesome. I am getting around 10-11 hours on moderate usage, meaning regular leafing through web, movies etc but no games. My previous laptop used to drain completely in 2 hours,so very good escalation.Camera is very good compared to many of my friends laptops.Regarding Mac OS, I will clear once and for all, I am using windows since childhood and am new to mac ,yes it is very good frankly speaking it is lucid than windows and yes I suffered in first month to use.It will take time to adjust and I can't even tell which is the best,it differs from person to person, each of them has got their own positives and negatives, its futile to have debate on that, because for example Mac OS only runs on apple systems which are mostly above 50k which are too costly laptops and windows run even on 15k laptops and serves more people.Benz cars may be better but only few buy.So nothing is Best or worst, everything is RELATIVE. Thats it.

Finally its a great and beautiful laptop, only downside is its storage capacity,At 128gb being hardcore fan of high def movies and BBC documentaries I had to have external disks by my side always.Other than this there isn't much to complain. Even spending 75k on this you can have debate, again it changes from person to person,to me as i come from 24k laptop I am totally satisfied.I ordered Topcase company case for my laptop from US on amazon India for 2000 rupees, its a beautiful marriage. For Light weight,Beautiful design, long lasting battery and cool looks go for this laptop.Thank you.

YOUR SEARCH FOR THE PERFECT LAPTOP ENDS HERE! An exhaustive review of the 2015 13 inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display
by Amit Kumar Sharma on 2015-10-23

I've been a Windows PC user since 1999 when I built my first windows desktop from scratch. Until recently, I had been something of an apple basher, but over time i got frustrated with the slow, cluttery machines that windows shipped on. The Macbook Pro happened when my trusty 5 year old HP DV6 died on me suddenly last month. It was an otherwise good machine, but was a fat 4+ kg affair, with a hard hinge that needed both hands to open, dull screen, rickety plastic construction with paint flaking all over. The battery was crap and barely lasted 2 hours even with a new battery. Every time I traveled, my laptop bag alone exceeded the weight of my allowed cabin baggage! Also, owing to the weight and the near-oven temperature that it ran up, I've never been able to use it as a laptop, instead it was more of a compact desktop that I could carry around!

The two major gripes I had with all full fledged Windows laptops (not the puny Atom equipped ultrabooks) were weight and battery life. There were only two machines that ticked all my boxes: the Dell XPS13 and the Macbook Pro 2015. The Dell lost out because of the weird camera placement (bottom left) and actually being more expensive than the Mac!! In addition, I was getting it for 15% less than the official store price, which was a big relief financially. Also, after using the trackpad and experiencing force touch, I wanted to at least give the damn thing a shot - I could always move back to Windows in the next upgrade. Or even run Windows natively on the mac if I don't like OSX (that is not the case however - I think it's a superb OS)
The laptop is machined out of a single block of aircraft grade aluminium, and it feels amazing to touch. Each part fits into the other precisely with no gap anywhere so there are no creaks, squeaks or wobbles like I have seen with Dell and HP plastic laptops. You just have to open the lid with a single finger to see how well balanced the design is. The screen stays shut with the help of magnets which are strong enough to keep it closed while being transported, but light enough that when you lift it with a single finger, it opens up gracefully, without you having to hold the base down with another hand - no other laptop has such a smooth action. The same can be said of the gentle way the lid shuts close. Its very light at 1.5 kg and a joy to carry in one hand as well as work on the lap for hours together. The aluminium construction is not just for premium feel - it does another very functional job. The whole body of the laptop acts as a giant heat sink! Whatever little heat that the Haswell processors generate, is immediately dissipated along the large surface area of the Macbook pro, thereby diffusing the overall temperature to imperceptible levels. This is one of the reasons why the MacBooks run so cool.
The screen is a gorgeous 13 inch IPS display with 2560x1600 resolution. This translates into a vivid, bright, colourful and near perfect screen with 170+ degree viewing angles without any image degradation. The blacks are deep and rich, almost amoled quality while the whites tend to be a bit warm, leaning towards red rather than blue, to give a more 'sunny' natural feel as opposed to the 'electronic' blue tinge. The laptop comes with built in ambient light sensor like a smartphone and you can turn on auto brightness feature whereby the screen brightness automatically adjust according to surrounding light. It is coated with an anti-reflective layer which works very well in cutting out glare and background reflections, though recently it has been in the news for being prone to scratches (staingate) for which apple has promised free warranty replacement for upto 3 years. Do your research on this before buying, although only a very small proportion of notebooks are suffering from this issue.
The keyboard is wonderfully designed, with well separated keys that have a fair bit of travel, although not as much as a conventional mechanical keyboard. It is a joy to type on the keyboard but I miss the numeric pad on the right that's available on most larger laptops (although I do understand that there is simply no space to put that here!). The keys are backlit for those late night work sessions when you don't want to wake your family. And just like the screen, the brightness of the keyboard backlight can be controlled with one touch with a dedicated set of brightness toggles (F5 and F6 keys). Overall, its an amazing keyboard, second to none.

Now comes one of the strongest pros of this laptop. The trackpad on this thing is unparalleled! Its a large slab of glass with no moving parts. Instead, it is a capacitive surface just like your phone screen and underneath it is mounted the taptic engine. This whole configuration is called the 'Force Touch' trackpad which is unique to Apple. What this does is that it eliminates any hinges or actual physical movement from the trackpad, so you cannot actually click it; instead the trackpad provides tactile feedback by clicking back at you when it senses finger pressure. Also, it gives you varying amounts of feedback depending on the pressure you apply as it can sense multiple levels of pressure. Being a software controlled feature, the upside to this is that you get the same tactile sensation of clicking at every single point in the keyboard, unlike previous generations of trackpads where it was easier to click on the bottom and practically impossible to do so at the top left and right corners where the hinges used to be. It is much harder to describe than actually experience it. Suffice it to say that If you didn't know that this was a force touch trackpad, you'd just keep using it as a normal one without noticing the difference! However, if you do want to check it out, try clicking on the trackpad when the laptop is switched off, and you'll get no click or any other feedback as it is a software controlled feature. It's truly a marvellous feat of engineering.
The 2015 Macbook Pro is the fastest performing laptop that I have ever used. It can run through all your daily computing needs without breaking a sweat. Where it shines, is when you throw a challenge at i - like video editing. It goes through every single task i've thrown at it with aplomb without ever stuttering or slowing down. In addition to having a fast and energy efficient processor, the performance is aided by the industry leading SSD tech inside, with read/write speeds much higher than offered by any other manufacturer. Transfer speeds are blazing fast, almost to the point of being unbelievable if you've been using conventional spinning hard drives so far (like I had). The memory is so fast that sleep & wake are instantaneous! I mean literally just a second. You open the lid and the laptop is already woken up from sleep ready to work at full capacity. Full boot-up from shut down takes under 15 seconds!

The 8 GB Ram is of the DDR3 variety, clocked at 1867MHz, while most RAM out there is of the 1600MHz type, making it first among equals. Consequently, the MacBook pro is much better at multi-tasking, video work, image editing, etc. than any other laptop with conventional 8 GB RAM.

Pixel play comes from integrated Intel Iris 6100 graphics (1.5 GB), which is a power efficient and very capable graphics card.

Overall, this is a beast of a laptop which provides desktop class performance with a ultrabook class design and portability. Truly the best of both worlds.
One of our biggest concerns in today's day to day life is the fear of running out of juice before the end of the day. From our phones, to our tablets to our laptops, this is an ever present fear. However, unlike phones, the scenario in laptops is much better. Before I got the Macbook Pro, all the Windows laptops I have used (be it HP, Dell or Lenovo) have run out of juice in times ranging from 2 to 5 hours. That is what I thought normal laptop battery life was, till this wonderful feat of engineering opened my eyes. Despite having a high pixel density, bright and vivid display, latest fully specced processor, the battery consumption is frugal and for once the performance is at par with a manufacturer's claim: The battery consistently lasts me 10 to 12 hours, with everyday use that includes watching HD movies, some document editing, file transfers, youtube streaming in 720p, torrent downloads, app store updates, e-mails, as well as social media. The battery is rated to last more than 1000 full recharge cycles before performance degrades (around 3 years) and a new battery from Apple costs around Rs 10,000 as of today.

A note about the MagSafe charger: This is another defining feature of Apple Macbook range (except the 12 inch Macbook), and it is a reversible charging interface that attaches to the laptop magnetically. It is strong enough to stay latched on to the laptop while charging, but if you happen to trip over the wire or yank it out, it does not drag the laptop off the table and onto the floor. Instead, it safely detaches from the device keeping your precious 1 lakh rupee investment safe. After using this, you'll wonder how you were using regular plug in chargers for so long and why the same technology has not been applied to other devices including phones! Please note though, that the charging cables are prone to fraying at both ends if not taken care of, and the only option is to replace them when that happens. As of today, that will set you back around Rs 6500 for a new MagSafe charger.
I agree that the Macbook is expensive, but until the SurfaceBook launch by Microsoft, it's had no real challenger at all. And in a market without a worthy competitor, monopoly ensues. Look at the iPhone for example. There are a zillion phones out there that try to take it down year after year, but get shot down at some level or the other. I think it has less to do with how good Apple is, and more to do with a single company building and controlling every aspect of design, manufacturing, software and hardware, sales, distribution as well as service.

I think any other company that follows the same philosophy will churn out vastly superior products than the current generation of taped-and-glued-together devices where none of the components (tangible or otherwise) have any history together before they meet on the assembly table. However, in today's market that's easier said than done, and it is just not economically feasible for any startup (let alone existing manufacturers) to put in place the formidable sales and service network Apple has built over the last 6 years. Add to that the reputation that the fruit has built over time, and you have a self-sustaining machine of domination! Is there any other manufacturer that has a better overall service rating than Apple?

Let's ask an honest question: What's the single biggest downside to an Apple product?

Answer: Cost.

If you eliminate the cost factor.... can you find a downside to this laptop? If it cost as much as the next hp or dell or lenovo, would you hesitate to buy it? How many hundreds of millions additional units do you think the Apple would sell then?

Now I understand that most laptops nowadays are built with an low profit margin, yada, yada, yada (read: higher margin for error and compromises). When you build a device with a low margin, you have to set your quality control standards sufficiently low. Because every device that comes off the assembly line that doesn't meet the standards, gets discarded. The cost of this "bad" device is therefore a loss that has to be made up in the sales of the remaining "good" devices. As the number of bad devices increases, the margins on the good ones keeps dropping, and if there is a significant manufacturing lacuna, this leads to a point of non-sustainability. So what are the only choices left with the manufacturer?

1. Scrap the design and build a new device with new materials, components, manufacturing infrastructure overhaul, etc. (not pretty - read: bankruptcy)

2. Lower the quality control acceptability bar, so that more "bad" devices get through.

That the second option is cleared by any board of directors in a heartbeat is a no-brainer. What follows is a product released to the market where every 1 in 5 to 10 pieces is defective. KNOWINGLY SUB-STANDARD. But costs can be kept low, so that's nice, right? Can't fault the manufacturer for trying to keep afloat and I can understand that.

One the other end of the spectrum, If a manufacturer were to decide that it would stick to the highest possible quality standards, discarding even mildly sub-par devices in a heartbeat, what would remain at the end of the filtering process are devices that are impeccable and uniformly comparable. They WOULD however, carry over the financial burden of their fallen brethren who didn't survive the QC assault. This makes them expensive. Add to that the quasi-religious fan following, the superlative infused brilliant product marketing by Apple, the scarcity heuristic (The harder it is to get an object, the more desirable it becomes) surrounding its products, stability of their software, a sound app ecosystem, better designed apps (also, developers get paid more per app on OSX and iOS), and you can see the customer push through the price barrier. It all depends on how anal you are about your device. If you can 'accept' certain issues because it's an 'affordable' or 'subsidized' device, good for you. If you can't - then look towards the fruit.

Now I'm not trying to justify Apple's cut-throat prices. They make the crappiest, most expensive cables that keep falling apart every couple of months, their licensing is way too expensive, number of apps available is less than windows, their policies are restrictive (to some), they are a walled garden, and so on. But it's a safe garden. The walls hold. You can sit inside and lounge in peace. It's not for everyone, but its not bad either. But this peace of mind comes at a premium. You get what you pay for.

I wish just as much as the next guy that their devices cost half of what they do. But over time, I have come to understand why they never can.

If you want an open ecosystem with freedom to 'customize', good for you. If there is a certain way you want your OS to function, if you're about freedom to choose your hardware, there is amazing variety and choice with Windows devices. But there is a bunch of people out there who either don't have the inclination or the time to care about all that. They just want a well-designed laptop that works without a freeze, or an app crash, or a random reboot, or is virus prone, and doesn't run on last year's software, while having the ability to natively run both Mac OSX as well as Windows. Those that value industrial design, premium materials, ease of use, long battery life and intuitive software. That bunch of people will feel right at home with this machine.
Highly recommended.

The Best Laptop Ever ! Has everything you need... Detailed product review has been written by a lot of guys... all I want to say is it is just perfect... the screen, speakers, build quality, BATTERY !!! Was confused initially between MacBook Air and MacBook Pro... But after a research of 1 month went with the Pro... Total value for money... Actually for the same configuration the Dell XPS 13 is a lot costlier than this...
got it from seller KIDA retail and they are awesome. Good service and discount by AMAZON ! got it for Rs. 74588/- only.

Best laptop i have used so far
by Moumita Paul on 2016-09-18

Its been a month I am using this laptop. Can't say it's expensive price is justified considering it has only 128 Gb ssd. I had to buy a lexar sdxc to compensate for its scarse ssd space. But I have used sony vaio, lenevo yoga and compaq presario laptops in the past and compared to windows laptop, this one's performance is awesome.

Windows with every update or new software install slows down the system. And within two years, you have to buy another laptop because of this. I bought this macbook hoping that I don't have to buy another laptop in 5 years. Lets see if it lives upto that expectation.

Compared to all the expensive laptops I have used, macbook pro is way ahead. Unlike other laptops, the sound quality is loud enough to watch movies without requiring external speakers. The boot time, copy speed, app performance and response time is fast. And battery life is amazing and does exactly what it says! I can actually work peacefully without having to worry about charging my laptop. It comes with all the apps installed that you need on daily basis without having to buy anything new unlike windows.

Considering I had newer and cheaper macbook options to buy, i chose this because it has the right number of ports that I need without compromising the laptops weight and slimness. For a windows user, it takes sometime to get adjusted to the way it works. But once you get used to it, you wouldn't want to live without it.

A beautiful beast indeed... !!

Like every windows user, I was wondering about the hype and luxurious tag revolving around apple products and decided to buy a macbook when my 4 years old sony vaio went blind.. ( screen damaged ) And after a huge debate n discussions, I chose MACBOOK PRO retina model.. And after using it, I have no idea of going back to windows.. Excellent product and yea, it has the worthy features for what you pay.

PROS : Brilliant display and Force trackpad
CONS : I didn't find one..

P.S. but AMAZON TRANSPORTATION SERVICES sucks to the core.. No proper contact info and product was delivered to me 3 days after I made 16 calls to amazon and 2 escalation calls...

Now the prices have gone up and luckily I got the product for 76k after all discounts and cash back.. Thank you amazon and KIDA retail for the amazing deal...

Apple Macbook Pro retina at the best price
by Shrey on 2016-07-20

I trusted amazon for the genuine product and it didn't disappoint at all. I ordered Macbook @ 9 am, choose same day delivery and the product was handed over @ 5pm. The price is the lowest on amazon guys.

Macbook Pro doesn't require any product reviews, everyone knows its the best machine when i comes to laptops. The machine is super fast and with 128GB flash storage, it surpasses all the laptops. I know its less, but will no be a problem if you carry an external drive with you.
Retina display is beautiful. The battery backup is amazing. I've used it for like 3 hours and it consumed only 35% of the battery.
This is the lightest Macbook i've ever used and I've been using Macbooks from past 5 yrs.
