Altogether a good laptop
by Shirish Choudhary on 2014-03-27
1. Sleek and lightweight.
2. Presence of two USB3 ports.
3. 1 GB graphics is good.
4. Black textured finish gives a nice look.
5. Good battery backup (around 4 hours) and less heating.
1. Tracking pad is less sensitive which has forced me to use a mouse.
2. Basic version of Win 8 lacking some important features like BitLocker, encryption.
3. Only 3 USB ports.
Summing up all features, its a very good laptop in this range.

Good Morning Flipkart!!
I want thank you for the excellent service I received from you on purchasing various items i.e Laptop, External HDD, Mouse etc.
It is been significant for genuine price, up-to date information and on-time delivery. These three main pillar of online business is perfectly maintained by you and your team. Your prices are at least three percent lower than your closest competitor's. When I deals in significant quantities, even a small price break can mean large savings."There is no substitute for low prices." We hope you will continue to offer savings on the commodities I need. Hats up. 'AWESOME!'

its not great laptop.
speakers are below average and laptop gets hang even if you are not using any application.
Battery takes lot of time to charge.. it takes more than 4 hours to full charge.
only good point you have -- screen resolution is good and it does not get hot.
overall i will not suggest for this.

This was a great buy as i was seeking to upgrade from my older laptop (compaq presario ; intel celeron)
1. 14 inch model is the right size and weight if you want to carry it around a lot
2. Features - i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB memory and 1 GB graph are great features for everyday work and multitasking
3. Having a DVD drive can be useful.... even though its relevance might depend on your need
4. Good battery backup - get about 4hours of browsing and office related work
5. Overall nice firm build and non-glossy finish which looks really great.
6. Windows 8 - once you get used to it, you really dont need a touchscreen as many would suggest. I get around just as well with the touchpad!
7. Quiet fans! And heating up is not a major issue.
8. Of course, not to forget, an amazing delivery experience by flipkart!!!
1. Lack of VGA port -. Of course, you do get converters for the same, though i havent tried them

Dell Inspiron 14 3421 Laptop

This is the best laptop in it's price range. Form factor, and performance packed into one. The 1 GB Graphic card is an added advantage to this beauty. If one is looking for a laptop in 40k range, I strongly recommend this.
Pretty cool and sleek laptop

Purchased this model after a month long decision making process
Got it for 40.3k from dell exclusive store. The laptop is really sleek and thin and pretty easy to carry. The surface texture is a bit different (neither glossy nor matty). It is pretty rough, but then as I get used to that rough surface, I am getting more comfortable.
Specs are standard 3rd gen i5, 4GB RAM (planning to upgrade to 8 GB next week), 500 GB HDD, etc. 1GB Graphics is a bonus at this price for a 14 inch laptop.
Note - This has 1 * 4 GB RAM stick and 1 slot is still available (as against information published on Flipkart page)
Update: I have upgraded the RAM to 8GB few months back. The machine is extremely powerful and also after upgrading to Windows 8.1, it rocks.

I bought this laptop from flipkart and i must say the delivery was best as always...
Dell Inspiron 14 is the best 14'' laptop till date(when u compare both budget & specs)
Every damn thing in this laptop is an advantage except for few areas in which our expectations exceed as always (human tendency) ;)
*Only 3 USB slots. (Fair enough for some, not for geeks like me)...
*Windows 8. Not a Con exactly. But if u planning to go for Win 8 make sure it has a "touch screen interface". Operating Win 8 with a mouse sucks big tym. I still regret it (besides the fact i got it for just 38k with 10% cashback and lots of freebies) :D XD
Till date i m pretty happy with the way it has worked for me, except for the areas mentioned above which would have given me more mental peace.

If you're buying a laptop, don't buy one from Dell. I bought my Dell Inspiron sometime around March, and it's been causing so many issues. Dell International Services India Pvt Ltd is such a lie! My laptop has issues like hanging randomly, getting stuck at the dell logo, cursor flickering. They made me run a few tests over the phone and sent over a "technician" to check the laptop and change the hardware if needed. The poor chap had no clue as to what's wrong with my laptop, asked me if I had an extra cd rom (what?), changed the hardware, asked me to sign on the form saying he'd done his job and went off. I'm not even sure if he knew anything other than how to change the hardware! Guess what? The same issues cropped up within 3-4 days of the service! BTW, I did not get the follow up call asking if my laptop was working fine and they "closed" the complaint in 2 days. No worries, I call again, Explain my isuues in detail again, the guy makes me do the exact same thing as I was told on my first call and said he'd "follow up" and "send an email with a link to download". I got no mail, no follow up call.
Call no. 3- I call and have to explain my issue for the THIRD time, run the same tests for the THIRD time, am told that this guy will follow up with a solution for the THIRD time and my laptop's STILL NOT RIGHT.
Save yourself the mess, buy no dell
