Good for watching movies

Good for watching movies...but not at all good for hearing music.....Good for the price...For the same price i prefer Philips over this JBL model, Philips have more wattage (1000W) and better THD than this...
Basic system - some installation guidelines.

Its a basic minimum budget system which I got from Amazon for 16k. Its extension of your TV sound. I have heard some great systems. If you are are sound enthusiast, then go for higher ones. Having said that, I had a limited budget & wanted everything like FM, Bluetooth, DVD Blu-ray, 5 speakers. It met my requirements. Infact if the input is good like HD or something, than the sound reproduction is not bad at all for the price. Only hitch is Amazon & JBL both don't provide installation. I called someone privately. Connect your Cable/DTH HD box to TV/LED via HDMI. From DTH Audio out connect to JBL IN by single CoAxial cable. Connect JBL to TV/LED via HDMI. That would give best output. 2 (L & R) speakers in front at listening height (4 ft from ground) Centre speaker above TV/LED & 2 Surround speakers at back (@ 6 ft from ground). Subwoofer in front with actual speaker (which is on the side) against wall at around 4-6 inches. This should give best possible effects.

JBL BD 100 Home Theater System:
5.1 350W RMS output
blu ray player
Internet wired connectivity.
Why I bought:
Value for money - no other system gives all this and comes at the price.
1 year ago the price was @ 29k. Few months ago it was @ 20K.
'Good' sound quality (esp. if you are buying home theater for first time)
You will enjoy listening to music and HD channel movies.
(Note: I do not have very trained ears, but I understand music a bit).
System delivers bass, treble as well as vocal nicely (some people who got BD300 found that bass was even better in BD300 maybe due to powered sub-woofer).
Instrumental, indian classical as well as hindi pop/bollywood plays well, in my opinion.
5.1 effect is really cool when watching movies that have Dolby Digital format.
Sound never gets harsh on your ear even when you increase the volume a lot.
In fact, it sounds better.
System is quite loud for home use, so you need not run after 1000W system.
Only 1 HDMI, that too OUT, no IN. 1 AV IN.
Order 1 HDMI cable additionally along with this system (depends on your TV - if TV supports HDMI ARC [audio return channel] then extra HDMI cable not needed).
If better budget, can try JBL BD 300 (5.1, 450W, wi-fi, HDMIs).
I do not know how to configure IP settings for LAN cable (need to do more study).
Delivery on time.
Packing was great - JBL as well as amazon layer.
Note that wires are hardwired into the speakers.
Wires are black and thin.
FL and FR speaker wires could have been longer for better placement.
Very nice system for TV and music.
Good choice if first time home theater buyer with budget <20K.
Complete value for money - I have done enough study on different systems (only on the Net, did not hear too many of them) - nothing beats BD100 in this price range.
clarification on cables:
1 cable is already connected from your set top box to TV.
1 HDMI cable is needed from JBL to TV.
That's it if your TV supports ARC.
3rd cable is needed from TV back to JBL.
it can be
- HDMI to AV (TV to JBL)
- AV to AV (TV to JBL)
Crstal Clear Sound with Decent RMS.

Suitable for Rooms upto 20x20. It's Just 300W so you shouldn't expect theater effects in a large hall. Music is of 2 types 1. Loud 2. Clarity with Details. This is second type, crystal clarity sound with Decent RMS.

JBL does not support installation and warranty for the product. Amazon should have mentioned this.

Value for money.. Excellent voice clarity. Selected this after personally experiencing the voice quality of other top brands in a showroom. Discount offered was about 10000 less than the price quoted in a major showroom (for a display piece with discounted price). The only problem I see is I am not getting the voice from TV onto the home theater..
Beware no HDMI in ports
by Anand Ramachancran on 2015-06-30
Amazon is amazing. But the product has some inherent issues. The JBL speakers are great but the the receiver has just one HDMI out port and no HDMI input port which means you an only connect one device. I have a WII console, a Tata Sky HD and a Sony Bravia TV. So, I've disconnected the receiver-cum-bluray player and attached it to my other room's pioneer AV receiver to view movies on my projector, As for the Sony TV and JBL speakers, I'm looking for a cheap and simple amplifier to solve the problem. Seems like I just bought an expensive BluRay player with speakers!!

Product is good BUT the sorrounding speaker are too low when watching various channels in TV. But it works fine when u watch movies using Dvd. You can increase the output by redirecting the signal flow from the Home theatre itself. All the front speakers including woffer are superb whether u watch TV or DVD. Even for FM also, surrounding speaker work only if you direct the input signal flow through the home theatre
