A gaming-beast at an awesome price!

Product Review - The Asus R558U:
I bought this at 45k from Amazon as my 17th birthday-gift and what I needed was a true gaming-laptop. This was going to be my first one so I headed to this category. I have seen HP, Dell users and those aren't simply made for multitasking or gaming, no matter how pricey they might be; unlike ASUStek, which delivers top-notch performance.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The RAM shown here is 4GB. However, it has 2x4GB DDR3 RAMs, so it's coming a total of 8GB, out of which 7.90GB is usable. CPU is not overclockable but the clock-speed increases upon heavy-uses or when under 'high=performance' power-setting.
Normal usage: Pictures, video-playback and surfing is without any lag, quality playback with DX12-support. The screen is, however; getting changed into a yellowish-tint which can be manually corrected under colour-management. Overusage can sometimes crash the Intel GFX-Drivers updating it might solve the problem. (Now those are rare cases which were identified under my stress-test sessions).
Mutitasking and work: Office and Media-processing is handled efficiently with the HT-Dual Cores (HT means hyperthreading, resulting in 2x2=4 logical cores, i.e.; each core acts to have two logical-cores).
Gaming Performance: Games of before 2015 (AC4, BF3) deliver around 30-40fps when run at high-settings @1366x768p. Recent games tend to run on 20-30fps at medium to high settings like Watchdogs and GTA5 run miraculously good at high-settings though. Disabling V-Sync and Multisampling can give you an extra 5-10fps, at the cost of pro-graphics.
Charging and battery-life: The battery charge really fast and the battery-life is somewhat really good if you use it for multitasking. (about 3hrs of uptime). However, while gaming; the laptop might give you an uninterrupted 2hrs of extreme gameplay, provided that the temperatures might rise to 70 deg Celsius and it can be a little dangerous for the laptop.
The laptop is delivered in a well-packaged air-bag protected box. Then there's the ASUS-laptop case made of cardboard, coming with the laptop (of course), a power-adapter, quick-start and user-manual with the 24-months official-warranty. The laptop has OEM Windows 10 Home with a one-month subscription to McAfee LiveSafe Software, alongwith some other bundled apps. The Wi-Fi strength is awesome and connections are instantaneously caught. Rest of the things are up to the mark.
MY RATING: 9 out of 10.
Buyers and gamers, this is the laptop you'd love to call your bae! So just go for it.
Product is Good (ONLY 4GB RAM NOT 8GB) ,BUT DELIVERY IS VERY LATE TAKES MORE THAN ONE MONTH!
by Amazon Customer on 2016-10-08
The product is good , but as the dealer lies that it is 8gb of ram because it has only 4 GB of ram in it.
The performance and display are smooth and crisp.
the HD display is the highlight and because of the matte effect on the laptop screen , u will be satisfied and won't be irritated about reflections.
My Only negative Feedback would be that it took more than 3 weeks for the latop to be delivered i.e. more than 1 week after the maximum date allotted for delivery.
Best laptop one could ask for in this price tag

I've been using this for past three months and I gotta say...this is one brilliant piece of machinery.
First thing's first - it looks fantastic! Secondly, we get genuine Win10 home single language with this laptop. 6th gen ci5 processor combined with 8 gb of RAM makes it lightning fast - it takes only 4 seconds to start, no lag at all while multitasking. 2 gb nvidia gfx makes hd video watching or gameplaying flawless (I've run only Left 4 Dead 2 which was butter smooth). No heating issue whatsoever - even after hours of use, the palm rest maintains a lower-than-body temperature. Keyboard and trackpad are delight to use. Sound quality is awsome. The battery of this device is a monster - after 2-3 hours of light working (like typing, watching movie, listening to music etc) it looses only 7 - 10% of charge!!!
Now, the display could have been better and the only bad thing of this laptop is its camera - it's horrible.
Bottomline, this is the best laptop one can ask for in this budget...it packs some serious punches under the hood which can tumble even the ones with more than 50K price tag. My suggestion - go for it!

If you are looking for details of R558UF at ASUS website, search for X556UF. Both are same.
This laptop is very good for Gamers. You will get the 60 fps = refresh rate of monitor, when V-Sync is on for most the games on high setting. I have tried on COD BlOps2, 60fps was constant. Games like CS GO, Dota are running very smoothly.
I was able to get 20fps in far cry 4 with ultra settings, Medium setting can give upto 50fps.
Battery backup is very good, Played game for 3 hrs continuously, still battery was left to be drained.
There are only 2 USB ports.
Keyboard is pretty good.
Monitor Supports upto 1366 * 768* 60p Hz resolution.
Sound quality is very good.
Supports RAM Upto 12GB.
If you are new to Windows 10, give yourself sometime, get to know it. Boots up in few seconds, and ready for use.
Brilliant specs at the stated price

Brilliant specs at the stated price. Have been using it for 2 weeks already with no issues. Is light weight and has all the required connectivity options including USB type C.
Isn't the best looking device in this price range, but does the work!

absolutely gorgeous laptop , been using it for 3 months , no problems whatsoever , truly works like a charm..that being said...touchwood !!!
very light , no overheating issues , been playing videos multitasking etc , no heating problems at all just doesnt heat up.Backup is pretty good too been fairly consistent at around 5 plus hrs. This comes with 8gb RAM and a nvidia 930m with 2gb of video memory , oh yeah it does pack a punch ( there was some doubt concering the ram at the time of my purchase ) .Laptop looks sleek light very portable , does have a glossy finish on its cover lid, I wouldn't say its a fingerprint magnet , managed to keep the lid on it fairly clean so far.The power adapter unit is fairly light although however I have a problem with the length of the power cord (especially the section of cord that runs from the power socket to the adapter being inconveniently short and tends to dangle if you cant seem to find a power socket no more than a couple feet from the ground ) , asus seems to have this problem in most of its models , this being my second asus laptop. The keyboard is fairly basic , no backlight , I dont feel the keys spring as I type over them , feels very flat beneath my fingers.
Now over to the problematic bit , the touchpad/trackpad is horrendous , I did purchase an external wireless mouse along with this to get around that issue , I highly recommend doing so , probably the only real issue with this laptop. The inbuilt wireless is pretty good , this came with windows 10 pre installed and a month of mcafee free pre installed on it as well . The ports seem very easily accessible all to the sides and well spaced , I use the HDMI on it fairly often , has a great display and the inbuilt sound is quite good too . The LAN port has to be drawn out before one can hook up the cable to it , recessed port has to be drawn out , neat little feature and well thought of by asus , definitely makes repairs a whole lot easier with the port
The build looks fairly good , i wouldnt try dropping this though , it would come apart !
Do play games like Pro evolution soccer on it , runs very smooth and overall for somebody who isnt a very intensive gamer the laptop has been a thoroughly satisfying experience and hope for it to stay that way
PS . I did get the user manual and power adapter with the package but I had to still get the warranty on this activated by making a call out to ASUS customer care , activated from the date of my purchase.

A very good product although keyboard and touchpad are not that of superior quality unlike rest of the laptop.Good battery life,USB 3.1 port and amazing speakers.
The best laptop one could get at this price
by Amazon Customer on 2016-05-22
The best laptop one could get at this price. Dell and HP laptops are good but you can't get these specs at this price. The best processor 6th gen and the best graphics card 930m in this range. The build quality is good. It is not as good as an HP laptop. But the next best. Display is great. Keyboard is alright. It won't heat up. In fact, whatever you do, the laptop just remains cool. I am sure one would wonder where all the heat goes. I presume Asus has the Icecool technology implemented in this laptop. The battery backup is another highlight. I usually use it for watching movies. I could see 3 films in a row after charging it to full and I would still have charge left in lap. Now, don't hesitate because HP and Dell have better brand names. Search for the best brands of 2016 and you would find asus in the top 3. A definitely great product to buy.

TBH this the best laptop you can get in this range.
If you can dig deeper i would say buy one which has a processor with higher clock-speed. it was packed extremely well, delivery was fast.
The only problem is that it is glossy so you will get a lot of scratches near the scratchpad so just take care of that.
I think this the only problem otherwise its a great buy and you wont regret it believe me.
