excellent choice among netbooks
by Venkatesh Jakkur on 2012-07-09
It scores on all points that includes the right specs (2GB ram,320gb HD etc), Good looks and build quality. HDMI port is good add on. Windows 7 works perfect on this netbook. Slight slant that the base of this netbook has it really good..

Used for 6 months. Good time to review.
- Battery life is great: Reducing the screen brightness will make the battery last nearly 9 hours.
- Very light
- Very sturdy laptop
- Totally easy to carry
- Good quality screen
-Key board is very small
-Layout of keys are not planned: PGUP,PGDN and ~ keys are not put in properly placed.
-Laptop gets heated if kept on a surface
- Wifi signals is little weak compared to my DELL latitude laptop.
-Processor is a little slow, but considering this a netbook, I cannot reallly complain.
- Key board quality is low.
- Windows 7 is very slow. Had to disable themes to speed up
- Windows edition provided is starter edition. Does not have many functionalities.
- Speakers are very bad
- Cable outlets are in the right of the keyboard. Had lot of difficulties to use mouse on the right side. Luckily I am a left hander.
Knocked off 1 star due to bad keyboard layout and cable inlet/outlet on the right side. This is a design issue.

Bought the product three weeks back. wanted to have a keyboard enabled machine(vs Samsung tablets).
Battery life is good> 7hrs.
handy and feel safer with the screen closed.
Can run all programs, even MS Office 2013 Preview, old AutoCAD and Photoshop too.(slow screen response)
Many programs you cannot access the lower part of the window( forced to use TAB key and keep fingers crossed)
Win 7 Starter( no aero, can use max 2 GB RAM)
Feels under powered in this age.
Use the latest drivers available on US website for 52X models.
Diable all eye candy except CLEAR TYPE.
Will have to upgrade the OS to use more RAM. It is told that one slot is unused but anyways you are stuck between 2 GB(OS) to 4 GB(hardware x86). I do't know whether you can install x64 OS.
Toshiba is the most reliable
by abhijit mandal on 2012-05-07
Toshiba laptops are best in reliability.. i have one and i know many of my friends who never had any problems. Never had to visit any service centers and they last really long. If you pay extra buck its totally worth it.
Excellent Product in Its Category

The Toshiba NB510 which I recently purchased provides very decent performance along with portability. One can easily open multiple applications without experiencing a slowdown. The 2GB memory along with the processor is a very good combination. I am fully satisfied.

I had a new HP i5 which has a faulty design at manufacturers end - so switched to Toshiba - as they are basic semi-conductor manufacturer also at half the price - now using it for 2 and half years - just no problem - not even hanging in-between work
If you are looking for portability, this is it!

This is one of the best portable laptops that you can possibly get your hands on. If you are looking for something that's small, lightweight, portable to carry out your basic tasks limited to mails, online browsing, working on word, excel and powerpoint, watching movies (of course with a headphone)this is the laptop for you.
1. Battery life (A solid 7-8 hours minimum on Balanced even while watching movies)
2. Sturdy build but at the same time light weight
3. Awesome keyboard. Of all the desktops and laptops that I have come to use, this one's got the most comfortable keyboard that I have ever come across.
4. HDMI port - Too good to have in a laptop of this range. I watch blu ray movies by connecting through the HDMI port to my 40" LCD and it is flawless.
5. 3 USB ports - Again a good feature, considering that most come with only 2 ports
6. Mouse touchpad
1. It takes a minute to probably open your browser or your word/excel application but is smooth after that
I can't complain much about it given that it does so much of what it is meant to do so well and probably a lot more (HDMI port)that I tend to even overlook its shortcoming, if any.

I brought this Netbook 2 months ago andit's not bad for the price. THe only pronlem I had was that the website said it had an extra slot and I could upgrade the RAM to 4gb. But it turns out that it doesn't have an extra slot and i have been completely robbed because i only wanted a Netbook with a 4gb ram. I want a refund.
Good Product, Registering Warranty is a hassle
by Uttiya Das on 2012-12-12
This is a worthy product for the price tag attached to it. Neat look, decent speed and ultra light weight.
However registering the warranty is a hassle since you cannot register the warranty online or over the phone. A physical mail has to be sent and even that isnt the end of it. No service calls will be entertained till the time the warranty has been registered, for which Toshiba takes it own sweet time.
In today's age not having the facility to register the warranty online seems rather old.
