HTC One Mini - Expert Reviews

HTC for a while had to fall back behind Samsung in terms of sales and receiving critical acclaim. They started off well but the Galaxy Series from Samsung just ripped through any competition. However, with HTC One, the company is back on track with stunning design that has finally outshone Samsung Galaxy S4, and has maintained its premier price as compared to the drop that Samsung Galaxy S4 took. So to cash in on the appeal of HTC One, the company has produced a smaller version or rather a toned down variation of the device named HTC One Mini. This is also on the same lines as Samsung Galaxy S series as they are also known for releasing mini series of their flagship devices. The HTC One Mini comes with a 4.3-inch display with TFT capacitive technology that works at a resounding resolution of 342pixels. The HTC Sense UI interface again accompanies the device like always. There is no microSD card slot with the device although the internal memory is pretty heavy with 16GB, but would it be heavy enough so that there would not be any need for memory extension, only time will tell. The RAM is phenomenal with 2GB which would help in multitasking at a fast pace but the dual core processor might slow down things a bit. Although HTC one has a quad core processor and HTC One Mini is a stripped down version but there should not have been any compromises on the processor. The operating system is Android Jelly Bean 4.2 that would provide plenty of applications for the user to enjoy with a worthy Internet facility.

The user gets a decent downloading and uploading speed with GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, and the built-in HTML browser. Wi-Fi hot spot along with USB port and Bluetooth are also provided. The camera is of 4megapixels but the things get a little complicated here for it also has a 2ultra pixel technology for further boost. We do not know what to make out of it but images are good in low light conditions, just as the case was in HTC One. Outdoors, the camera struggles a bit but overall, we are happy with its performance. Video recordings too are in high definition, which is a good sign whereas a decent secondary camera is also provided. The device is available in the colors of Black and Silver but there is no White version like its predecessors. Music player, Video player, FM radio, and access to games are some of the many features that would keep the user entertained and engaged for a long time. The battery strength is good with HTC One Mini but unfortunately, this is one department where they seem to have fallen short of similar products from Nokia and Samsung.

Operating system and UI

HTC One Mini has a 4.3-inch TFT capacitive touch screen display that gives 16million colors and an impressive pixel density of 342ppi. The display works at a resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels and is backed by the HTC Sense user Interface.

Other Features

HTC One Mini comes with a music player that like all the other HTC smartphones, works with the Beats audio sound enhancement technology. According to us, this fancy name does not make that much of a difference to the quality of sound but HTC was never bad in this department in the first place. Video player plays videos in the formats of DivX, XviD, MP4, H.263, H.264, and WMV player while the music player is compatible with formats including MP3, eAAC+, WMA, WAV, and FLAC player.

HTC One Mini has a 4megapixel camera that is bolstered by the 2ultra megapixels technology. The user as a result can snap images at a resolution of 2688 by 1520pixels and has features like auto focus and LED flash. Other features offered by the camera include 1/3inches sensor size, 2µm pixel size, simultaneous HD video and image recording, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, and optical image stabilization. Videos as mentioned above can be shot at 1080pixels and has a backup with stereo sound and video stabilization technology. Secondary camera is present too for video calling and web chats.

HTC One Mini comes with GPRS and EDGE along with HTML5 browser that works in collaboration to provide a fast and speedy Internet access. The user can access Facebook, and even get updates from the same on his or her homepage while YouTube is also easily accessible. Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hot spot are available too with the latter allowing the user to create an Internet hub for other devices to use.

HTC One Mini has a 16GB internal memory that should be adequate for keeping a large data collection including songs, games, images, and videos. There is no microSD card slot, hence, any hopes the user might have of enhancing the memory should the one provided gets used up, would be shattered. The RAM is beefy with 2GB and is probably better than most of the devices of its class.

Other Features

HTC One Mini is a great device to play games on with Android Jelly Bean 4.2 being a gateway to tons of similar applications that can be downloaded as and when required. Some of the games are free of cost while others would be charged for.

HTC One Mini has a decent battery backup for lengthy usage but in case, the applications used are heavy in size then the battery would be used a little faster as compared to a Samsung or Nokia Smartphone.

HTC One Mini provides Wi-Fi hotspot, GPRS for Internet access while the connectivity features for data transmission include Bluetooth and USB port.

Other Features

HTC One Mini when compared to Samsung Galaxy S4 mini has a similar screen size of 4.3inches where the pixel density of the former is much higher with 342ppi as compared to the 256ppi offered by Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. HTC One Mini has a 16GB internal memory as compared to the 8GB offered by Samsung Galaxy S4 mini but the latter provides a microSD card slot, which the former does not. HTC One Mini has a 4megapixels camera while the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini has an 8megapixels camera. The rear camera is of 1.9megapixel for Galaxy S4 Mini whereas it is of 1.6megapixel for HTC One Mini.

Other Features

2013, Quarter3: HTC One Mini is the latest toned down variation of the very popular HTC One. The device would go head to head against Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, which also has a 4.3-inch display. HTC One Mini comes with a 4megapixel camera with 2 ultra pixels technology while it runs on the Android Jelly Bean 4.2 operating system. The RAM used by the smartphone is 2GB while the processor is dual core.

*        4.3-inch TFT capacitive touch screen
*        Dual core processor
*        2GB RAM
*        Android Jelly Bean operating system
*        4megapixel camera + secondary camera
*        Wi-Fi hot spot

HTC One mini review

Just weeks after we put the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini through its paces, we're looking at the HTC One mini, another attempt to shrink a flagship down into a smaller (and cheaper) package. As you'd expect, the 4.3-inch mini looks much like the full-sized version, and that goes for both the hardware and software. In addition to its similar-looking aluminum-and-plastic frame you'll find both a 4-megapixel Ultrapixel camera sensor and HTC's Sense 5 UI, meaning automatic video highlights, Zoe and BlinkF Read full Review

HTC One mini

The HTC One is an excellent handset, a device that puts the design of practically all other smartphones into the shade. For several months, it was the only handset that HTC had given us, as rumours swirled about a smaller model.Off came the covers and we now have the HTC One mini resplendent on our desk, a smaller version of the One, but heralding many of the same values. It offers slick design, exceptional build quality and a sophisticated user interface.But how does the HTC One mini fare in th Read full Review

To start with, a couple of other reviewers said that the actual price would be much lower. I don't blame them for thinking so, that's what I thought too, but time to update your reviews people!
