HTC One X9 Grey - Expert Reviews
The Taiwanese firm, HTC has shown great resilience over the last decade or so by surviving fierce competition from the likes of Xiaomi, Gionee, Oppo, Micromax, Motorola etc. And so far the success has been more than acceptable. The HTC One series has been a major contributor to the success of HTC as a brand, especially in the flagship category. In fact, HTC One has been responsible for a lot of evolution that has taken place in the smartphone world subsequent to its launch, especially as far as aesthetics are concerned.
This has led to design changes for various other companies including the most celebrated maker in the world, Apple. Apple's latest iPhone design is quite similar to what we have seen with HTC One series models over the years. HTC One X9 is another formidable device from the One series model that comes stacked with loads of impressive features and priced around Rs.31,200.
HTC One X9 has been neatly designed with slightly rounded corners and slim but sharp edges, keeping it elegant and comfortable enough to hold in your palm. The gadget weighs 174 grams, which is not that light. Dimensionally, it comes with a length of 153.2mm, a breadth of 75.9mm and a thickness of 7.99mm. The device is available in two colours of Black and White.
HTC One X9 comes with a 5.5 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen having a resolution and pixel density of 1920 by 1080 pixels and 400ppi, respectively. The responsiveness is quite snappy with users being able to swipe through various screen or tabs with utmost ease.
HTC gadgets have always provided great camera phones in the past and HTC One X9 follows the same tradition with its 13MP primary shutter equipped with some great features including auto focus, geo tagging, HDR, back-illuminated sensor, FHD recording etc. The camera can have full High Definition recording at a resolution of 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second. We can expect some really good low light images from the main camera at the back. The video quality is more than decent as well with minimum background noise.
There is also a secondary camera at the front of 5MP strength, which is rather bleak compared to what we have seen in other devices, not only at this price range but also lower. So, a rather weaker selfie camera is a disappointment, which may not auger well with some users.
HTC One X9 is powered by a dominant 2.2GHz octa-core processor from Snapdragon capable enough to run some of the most extreme Android based activities. The presence of 2GB RAM further strengthens the multitasking ability of the smartphone including opening of multiple tabs, playing games, watching videos on YouTube etc. It is debatable whether the given RAM is good enough for the given price since a lot of devices in the same price range or even lower are offering 3GB of RAM. However, as far as the overall speed is concerned the device is quite snappy.
Operating system and UI
HTC One X9 has the brand new Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, which in turn opens doors to plenty of new games and apps for the users, besides providing the latest interface for smoother and more intuitive interaction. This would also tighten the security of the device along with accentuating its features regarding interaction with icons. Connectivity
There are plenty of features available with HTC One X9 as far as connectivity is concerned, including USB port and Bluetooth that cater to data exchange services, whereas elements like Wi-Fi, GPRS and EDGE provide access to a fast and agile Internet. Data can be transferred wirelessly to other devices or received from them via Bluetooth or even NFC. NFC provides lightening quick data exchange services provided the other device also has the same facility.
The display of HTC One X9 is quite smooth with users being able to go through all the icons on its screen, surf the web, play games and execute other touchscreen activities without any sluggishness or lag. There are various sensors that add to that fast touchscreen performance of the gadget including the likes of accelerometer sensor, compass sensor, proximity sensor, gyro sensor, light sensor etc.
HTC One X9 uses 16GB of internal memory space that can be used to store more than a decent amount of data including songs, games, movies and pictures. Out of the given memory, users can only make use of around 11GB. And for those looking to expand their data collection would have to opt for a microSD card slot of 32GB capacity.
HTC One X9 comes with a 3000mAh standard lithium-ion battery that is at par with other premium phones, and should give users a decent amount of talk time and standby time without the gadget running out of power. Users can also play games and utilize other multimedia activities with great effect.
Offers dual SIM feature for keeping two numbers
Supports a lot of multimedia activities including listening to music via music player and watching movies via video player. The music player and the video player support plenty of formats including MP3, eAAC+, WAV, Flac, XVid and H.264
