iBall andi 3.5 kke Genius Grey - Expert Reviews
All though we have seen Android operating system's arrival fills the gap between a lot of high profile companies and low end firms, but there is still a lot of time before the former would be able to catch up to the latter. We all want the underdogs to do well but for iBall, that happy ending is bit far away. For now we can look at the progress they have made this far with IBall Andi 3.5KKe which is another budget Android gadget from the firm. The device comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA full capacitive touchscreen which is aided by the resolution of 320 by 480 pixels. As far as responsiveness is concerned, there is some sluggish behavior experienced here and there but overall it works well. Camera is 3.2 megapixels as far as strength is concerned but the shutter performs more like a 2 megapixel camera. The resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels does not seem to be apparent in the images produced. LED flash and digital zoom are helpful though that can remove some minor drawbacks that are witnessed in difficult backgrounds. A VGA secondary camera is not bad though with adequate power for making video calls with clarity. The hardware of the device includes a 1GHz cortex A9 processor but the RAM is extremely low with just a mere 256MB. So that is adequate explanation of the sluggishness. Internal memory is also not huge with 512MB that would need renovation in due course of time. For the same purpose, there is a microSD card slot allotted at the top which can augment the memory up to 32GB. So on its use the user can store lots of songs, games, images and videos. The software platform is a bit of a disappointment with Android Gingerbread. Now we know that this a budget device but at least an Ice Cream Sandwich was expected from the company.
Powered by the standard lithium-ion battery of 1450mAh, the power back-up is not dominant but should suffice in order to provide a lingering talktime and standby time. Dual SIM facility helps those users who have to frequently travel to different location and thus change their numbers. So multiple numbers in a single device can be kept which is useful for those who are not too keen on changing devices. Internet is not the fastest but GPRS and EDGE with WAP browser keeps the users interested with access to popular web sites like YouTube and Facebook. Downloading can be done but at some point of time, the threshold of the device would be crossed in terms of the amount of data size beyond which the user cannot reach. Entertainment features include the music player for listening to songs and video player for watching videos. FM radio is another tool for hearing popular music on the radio stations. Other mentionable features of the device comprise of Back Side Illumination Sensor, Pre-loaded Apps, Sensors: (Accelerometer Geo-magnetic,Gyro-sensor, Light Sensor,Proximity Sensor).
Operating system and UI
IBall Andi 3.5KKe has a 3.5-inch display which is clear from the title of the device itself. With HVGA technology, the display is not exactly bursting with high resolution as it is backed by 320 by 480 pixels. Pixel density is also in the mid low region. The user would not have the smoothest touchscreen experience but for a first time Android user, it should suffice.
IBall Andi 3.5KKe comes with a well designed music player that can play songs in the format of mp3 player along with many others. Earphones can be attached to the smartphone with the help of a 3.5mm jack whereas loudspeakers can be used as an alternative means to do the same. Video player works well too although HVGA might not be the ideal screen type to watch movies or videos. If one lives in a city where popular radio stations are available then he or she can use the services of a FM radio that can record songs too.
IBall Andi 3.5KKe has a 3.2 megapixel camera that fails to live up to its pixel strength when it comes to delivery of results. Images are produced at a resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels. LED flash, Digital zoom are the assisting features. Secondary camera helps the users in making video calls or having web chats. The secondary shutter is located at the front of the smartphone, which is VGA with a resolution of 640 by 480 pixels.
IBall Andi 3.5KKe has a decent Internet skill set with GPRS and WAP browser. Wi-Fi too helps in getting access to remote connections wirelessly. Downloading speed gets hampered when the signal is not strong and unlike other high profile devices, IBall Andi 3.5KKe fails to maintain the connections to desired websites.
IBall Andi 3.5KKe has a 512MB internal memory so for someone who is not too keen on a big data collection and is content with phonebook details and SMS's, there is no need for memory expansion. In the case of the contrary, there is a microSD card slot with a 32GB limit that would assure a larger space for the songs, games, images and videos.
IBall Andi 3.5KKe has a good collection of games while more can be downloaded from the web with Android Gingerbread operating system providing the user with access to Google play store.
IBall Andi 3.5KKe is supported by the standard lithium-ion battery of 1,450mAh that derives a good amount of talktime and standby time. Multimedia usage time is also long but Internet usage can be a little too hard on the power back up.
IBall Andi 3.5KKe comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB port, GPRS and EDGE as elements of data connectivity features. There is no Wi-Fi hot spot which cannot be listed as a drawback of the device but its addition would have certainly given it an edge over the others.
IBall Andi 3.5KKe when compared to Micromax Ninja 3 has a similar screen size with 3.5 inches with an identical resolution. Both the device has a 256MB RAM and a microSD card slot that has a 32GB limit. The camera is also more or less the same with 3.2 megapixels but the Micromax Ninja 3 produces better results.
July 13, 2013: In the middle of huge screen sizes and flagship smartphones, iBall has released a low range Android smartphone with IBall Andi 3.5KKe. The device has a 3.5-inch HVGA screen and runs on the Android Gingerbread operating system. The camera offered by this dual-SIM gadget is 3.2 megapixels while a VGA secondary camera is also available at the front.
