The Flagship Killer
by Detroit Inferno on 2016-12-22

I'm not going to go on about the specs, because everybody at this point would know them. I'm going to address some of my findings, features and some hidden offers, that's right more about that later on.
First off, the product packaging is one of the best. The 'V20' logo really shines out. The included free case is good if not great, it could attract some pretty good scratches very easily, still it's a great freebie. The B&O earphones are not the 'H3' Model, it's specially designed earphones just for LG. Not just India, all the Asia V20's comes with the same earphones included. The H3 is only available in the USA only as a pre-order gift, it's not included in the box like this one. You get the earphones separately later on after you receive the phone, one more thing is that USA V20's are sound tuned by LG whereas the ASIA V20's are sound tuned by B&O. And the phone is Made in INDIA, which is weird since all electronics are made in china. So there you have the information for all complaining about the earphones so far. As far the quality about the earphones, they are really well built and have a very lightweight profile to it. The sound quality is something spectacular, it isolates most of the outside noise. When using it with the DAC's it recreates the original sound. I'm not a fond of wired earphones, but after using these I think I'll carry them along with my Jaybird Freedom's. So, if you're concerned only about the quality you don't need to worry. It's great on these free earphones.
The phone performance is great, if you want to you can tweak the animation speed to make it more snap. To do this you need to Go to Settings-About Phone-Software Info-Build Number, tap on the build number until it says 'You are a Developer now', then go to Developer options and scroll down and change the 'Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, Animator Duration scale' all three to ".5x" value and go back, now you can notice more quick switching between apps and games. I'm very much pleased with the performance and memory management. The phone's design profile is what amazed me, it is very thin, I mean really slim build than all other current smartphones out there. It gives the iPhone 7 Plus a run for its money, 2 V20's could easily fit in a 7 plus shell. The charging is also fast and the phone doesn't heat up even after prolonged usage and gaming. So that's good to know after all the explosions recently in the Note 7.
There are couple of offers hidden in the phone, thought I'd share it with all. 1. Google Drive- After you setup the phone go to Google Drive app and you should see that 'LGE 100GB storage for 2 years Redeem Now', click on it and wait for a couple of minutes to let it sync and you should see that you're storage would be extended from the usual 15GB to 115GB. 2. LG SmartWorld - You can download 2 winter themed Hi-Fi music tracks for free from the LG SmartWorld app, just open the app and you can see in the app's homepage about it and you can get a lot of free stuffs too like wallpapers and themes and ringtones.
I've attached all the photos and screenshots in my review and one photo to show off what the camera can do.
To wrap it up, I'm really more than happy about my purchase and there's no cons about this phone. Only thing I'm not happy about it is the included screen protector, though we could easily change it, there's no good replacements out there right now as the phone is new in the market and good accessories are yet to come.

Phone supports dual SIMs AND SD card!!
by Krumbs on 2016-12-10

Just got delivery, and I will update this later with a detailed review. But first, would like to inform everyone that I am surprised by what the sellers have mentioned about the hybrid SIM. THEY ARE WRONG! I am happy to note that the V20 supports dual SIMs AND a SD card.
Please check the images. Both my Jio and Airtel connections are working fine. VoLTE is also working fine. One SIM goes in the slot BELOW the MicroSD card, while the other SIM goes into the slot adjacent to it.
I hope LG does not lose sales because of uninformed sellers!
Also, ask me any question you want. Will try and answer as best as I can.
UPDATE: After some four hours of use, here are my initial thoughts:
-- The B&O earphones are certainly not worth 18k! They are nowhere close to the nuanced experience I get from my Shure 535s, Sennheiser IE8 and the Sony XBA-3s. Sure, they are better than the free earphones bundled with most phones, but not 18k better! So I would suggest your buying decision should not be influenced by the thought of getting an 18k earphone for free! :)
-- I also have a S7 Edge, and if I compare the V20 to it, I don't think it justifies the 55k pricing. Even with the free earphones and case.
-- The free back cover looks like something you can buy off eBay for Rs 200! It does the job, but I won't call it great looking. Besides, it is slippery!
-- The phone comes with a screen protector stuck on. That feel high quality and something that will last a long time. So I would recommend not wasting money on a separate screen protector.
And yes, about the model we are getting in India, I did some research. It is Taiwan model and supports dual SIM plus MicroSD. You can read more here about the differences in various LG V20 models --[...]

One of the fastest phones with several unique features
by mosttrusted on 2016-12-19

Recieved on the next evening of ordering with perfect packaging. When the phone is fully charged, cool and freshly re-started scores over 140000 easily on the Antutu benchmark. If they would have taken care of a few of more parameters like RAM speed, DSP for math etc it could have beaten iphone 7 in Antutu score. However score is not everything and depends on your usage too. Many reviews are already available on the net but will try to state my own observations.

Visited y.antutu.com and used antutu officer app to find if it is original. Device unknown is what I got as of now (hope to get the data correctly soon and hope that it is original LG)

New device or a third party ROM can cause identification error.

I had owned both apple and samsung and even htc top models earlier and had excellent experience in general. However this one is very different in many ways. The motivation was to buy a high performance phone which is very rugged. I had bought samung S4 when it was just introduced in the market. It fell from my pocket while I was sitting on a office chair. It had outstanding display quality but easily cracked and spent almost 10,000Rs leaving apart my time. Almost the same happened with just 1ft fall and that too not with screen facing the floor. I had to discard it completely. I had to return iphone to office during job change and bought samsung note 3 as I was waiting for the next iphone to be realsed in a month or two. Note 3 was a much rugged phone without any overheating and the frame was designed to be a fration of mm above the screen level which protected the screen. The actual quality of picture etc taken by it was much higher than what one sees on the screen. I also did not feel it was fast enough for my usage.

Overall this one of the best in the market especially considering its ruggedness and seems to be better than Samsung Galaxy S7 edge in almost all aspects except perhaps low light conditions (need to verify). S7 comes with heavily discounted virtual display and this one with Bang & Olufsen spakers at least of the same value (18,000 in India and 10,000 in USA).

Display: Actually it has a 5.7in display which already looks larger than 5.5in display of S7 edge or Iphone 7plus. In additon there is a second screen on the top of this display. The second screen equally wide and almost 1cm in height. Time and a few other things can be displayed when the main display is off or on. In addition, when one works with the main display the incoming call button appears on the top in the second screen thereby not disturbing the first screen content. This is very similar to the concept which Apple also introduced in the new Macbook Pro with retina this year. Very useful enhancement but not a deciding factor in choosing a phone. Screen being large one needs to use both hands. Overall with this kind of display there is no need to look for any further bigger screen for browsing, reading etc. The display easily passed the drop test from at leastmeters directly on concrete surface with display facing the concrete. It did crack when dropped from over 2.5m but display was still working. A screen protector is therefore still recommended.

Battery: It is large enough when one uses it for calls, browing, hearing music etc. However may not be enough for people who tend to play a lot of graphic intense games. It does get charged fast enough but does not seem to have dash charging of Oneplus3 or Motorola. However slow charging does extend the life a lot. In future, I am sure people will come up with parallel charging of many cells ensuring fast charging and also longer life of the battery. Over 4000mAh could have been a better size for this phone.

Speed: It is one of the fastest in the market with over 140000 Antutu score and very responsive even with many apps open. One can also view two applications next to each other simultaneously. Boots a bit slowly perhaps due to caching. I suppose it can be improved if required.

Music: Probably this is the best phone in the market as far as music is concerned. Speactacular quality on the Bang & Olufsen speakers (especially the string instruments). However one cannot feel the punch of the beats which is obvious in a way and requires an active headphones with battery in built. Nevertheless totally out of the world experience for string and other high frequency instruments. Every sound can be heard distinctively and clearly including voice. I have a high end Creative sound card having this kind of performance. When it comes to high frequencies this is even better than Creative sound card. The 32bit DAC seem to help a lot. The speakers have a cloth like cover over the wire which prevents tangling. However did not find a clip for fixing them to shirt or collor.

Recording: It also had crystal clear recording of even low noises. Amazing performance with lots of options.

LoudspeakerL It is definitely loud but nothing speacial compared to many in the market. Could have been a bit better without increasing the overall cost. For ex stero with bass.

Photos: Looked outstanding with the main camera. Wide angle could easily accommodate large number of objects easily. However the front camera though focuses quite fine when object is near, there is some lens distortion in my opinion. For selfie it is very important to correct this. Will examine more carefully again. My family enjoyed saying cheese which cliks the photo whithout a need to press the button on the screen. I am not particular on low light as even the best SLRs I own have not done so well. One can probably manage with some additional app on the play store. Overall the main camera is one of the finest in the market. Focus was very fast too.

Video: Seems to play without any lag whatsoever. Recording also seems to be perfect.

Memory: Mostly it is using 2.4 GB out of 4.0GB. Ram seems to be just fine for my usage at least. 64GB itself is very high already. A slot is given to add a micro SD card in this phone and one can easily add a micro SD card with high speed (if required for 4k videos) such as Samsung Pro Plus else a much economical evo series shall be enough in most cases. In addition TB of cloud memory is available now a days. Most cloud space is actually given by Microsoft with their office 365 subscription for home use (1TB per device making it 5TB). It costs less than most professional cloud spaces and includes office for 5 pcs and many tablets and phones at hardly 4,500Rs per year.

Call quality: Seems to be very clear. Not sure but even incoming calls seem to be very clear and probably there is a filter to optimise for voice. Was able to manage even with low signal strength. One strange thing is that only one sim is at 4g and the other sim it is not. Will get my sim checked if it is compatible with 4g. Even options are not appearing for the second sim. Changing the sim to call before the call was very simple. It also has a feature to redirect one sim call to other intelligently.

Sensors: Finger print sensor is very fast indeed and one can authorise many finger images too. However it insists for the pattern too. It boots with pattern or finger sensor option by default. I just want finger sensor option for a more secure option. Most sensors seems to be of very high quality in general.

GPS: Simply incredible is what I want to say. samsung phones always troubled me in this aspect including note 3 and they used to search GPS forever. Iphone was much better. This one is the best. Took just one second once I had opened google maps and entered the destination. Google maps on Android 7 seem to be much improved too and probably will not need to use my expensive Sygic world wide maps with traffic which I had already bought.

Body: Though screen is of very high quality, other material used for body seem to be a simpler quality of plastic. There is a release button given for back cover which is not strong eough and can be designed better. Extra cover is provided which is very handy but is somewhat slippery as many indicated. Recommended to use a screen guard. The original guard with the phone was attracting finger marks easily.

Software: Not much of bloatware and only useful stuff is loaded. LG app for remote controlling of electronics limits devices to only 4. There is at least one free app which has a database of over a million devices. Its your choise. This single app replaces requirement of a complex universal touch screen remote such as from logitech (harmony 100 series) which I had bought for a few hundred dollars some years back.

Radio: Actually even in my AUDI I get only a couple stations here. Barely manged to play a manuallly given frequency. But it may not be the phone. With speakerswire acting as an antenna I was expecting more. Will see the performance elsewhere.

Weight: Slightly higher and would need to change hands else it is quite fine. The phones which are too light have a heating issue quite often due to poor cooling conditions. Therefore I feel fine. Do use the cover given by them or a better one to have extra protection as the higher weight means higher impact when falls over ground too.

It had also a better bend test capability compared to iphone 7 in the test.

LG V20 Review

At first glance, it is easy to think that the LG V20 comes with a unibody construction but There is actually a button on the lower right side that releases the catch mechanism for the metal back plate, and allows for access to the removable battery, the SIM card slot, and the microSD card slot that allows for expandable storage up to an additional 256 GB. When the back plate is in place, it sits completely flush with the body, and looks and feels just like any other metal unibody smartphone. The build quality is absolutely fantastic, and LG really deserves to be commended for managing the always figure out a way to offer a removable battery LG has retained is the MIL-STD 810G certification for impact and shock resistance.
Taking a look around the device, the headphone jack, USB Type-C port, and single speaker unit are all found at the bottom. The power button remains on the back,

1x USB Type-A to USB Type-C tangle-free flat cable

===================
Design and First Look
===================

The device comes with a new metal design that is great to look at, and comes without compromise in terms of durability, a big beautiful display, a very feature rich camera, and a fantastic audio experience. LG managed to do all this while still retaining staples like expandable storage and a removable battery, with latter being something you can only count on an LG phone to have in the high-end segment.

============
Display
============

The main display a 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen with a Quad HD resolution, resulting in a pixel density of 513 ppi. The display is bright enough to allow for easy outdoor visibility, features good viewing angles, and the high resolution means that sharpness is of no concern.
The only complaint would be that the colors aren’t quite as vibrant as I would like. That said, it’s still a pretty good looking screen, just as you would expect from a flagship smartphone.
The secondary display, which is a 2.1-inch screen with a 160 x 1040 resolution, is still at the top. The secondary display shows a variety of different things like app shortcuts, recently opened apps, media controls, upcoming calendar events, your favorite contacts, and quick toggles for basic settings like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. When the screen is off, information like the time date, and battery life will be on this display. You can also set a custom signature, but because the screen is wider now, you can set signatures that are much longer, and you can also include a custom signature wallpaper to match.

==============
Camera
===============

The V20 comes with a dual camera setup like what is also available with the LG G5, with a 16 MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and OIS, that is coupled with an 8 MP wide angle secondary sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. I absolutely love the wide angle lens on the V20. Granted, the quality is not as good as the main sensor, but the wide angle lens is just a lot of fun to use, and works perfectly in a variety of situations, such as when taking group photos or capturing landscapes.
LG’s camera app is packed with features, especially when it comes to manual controls for photos and video, and it’s actually quite amazing how much they’ve been able to pack into this camera. You have granular control over every aspect, including white balance, ISO, exposure, shutter speed, and focus, just as you would on a DSLR.

============
Software
============

On the software side of things, the LG V20 was the very first smartphone to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat The V20 comes with all the latest Android features that were included with the update, including built-in Multi-Window support, the revamped notifications, direct reply, customizable Quick Settings toggles, and Doze on the go, just to name a few. There are built-in themes available that have been made specifically for the V20, which is useful if you aren’t a fan of the default color scheme.

=========================
Performance and battery life
==========================

Under the hood is what you would typically expect from a 2016 flagship, with the LG V20 also featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor that is backed by the Adreno 530 GPU and 4 GB of RAM. Even with LG’s somewhat heavy skin, the performance has unsurprisingly been excellent, and handles everyday tasks with no issues.

My dream! phone of 2016!
by Quality-Conscious on 2017-01-02

Hello everyone,

I don’t know whether I should write this review or not, cause i don't own LG V20 personally. I bought HTC 10 3 months back and i am planning to sell it. Unfortunately i am not able to find any good buyer since past one month... HTC 10 doesn't have good resale value. Ok fine, enough of ranting, now let's highlight the point which differentiate LG V20 from similarly priced phone:

• IR Blaster : Very convenient to operate IR equipped devices.
• Dual Screen. Shortcuts are always welcome.
• Fm Radio. I just love this feature, cause I m a pure music junkie. That is the reason I bought HTC 10. I listen all kinds of music like western, classic, ghazals etc. Fm fulfill that requirement on the go.
• Audiophile : Yes! this device is absolute beast, when it comes to audio. If you are a casual youtuber you can record videos in high quality sound. Infact it is proven that v20 records best audio as compare to any other smartphone. It support 32 bit audio. Bundled earphone is of high quality. Lossless audio format files will sound amazing on LG V20 just like HTC 10. Additionally, you can also play 32 bit audio file, which is rare case scenario, but it is there for you to explore.
• Wide angle camera: It is really handy when you want to capture more object, surrounding or peeps on your photos and videos.
• Removable battery: Simply wow!!! It already has 3200 mah battery and you can replace it, unlike lg g5 2800 mah. This is really good for those peeps who use their phone heavily like me..
• Andriod Nougat right out of the box: Htc 10 still not got nougat update in INDIA. You will never know the importance of this thingy, unless you have been waiting for such a long time for Nougat.

Cons:
• LG software
• Not water proof /resistance.
• Speakers: This could have easily made LG V20 a complete audio package. They should have added good quality speaker as it is not water proof. IDK why they skip such important feature.

You cannot compare LG V20, Samsung S7 edge and HTC 10 with oneplus 3t. Oneplus 3t is a phone for those peeps who are really tight on budget, but want some of the flagship features. It all depends on your requirement and budget which phone you wanna buy. You will find many positive reviews about oneplus 3t from famous and trustworthy youtuber, cause it is a real flagship killer phone. Second best is ZTE AXON 7. If your financial condition is extremely good, then without a doubt you can buy IPhone 7 any variant or Google pixel phone. But then again you need to consider your requirement as well like audio, camera, software etc..Peace.

As always thanks for reading..
Cheers.

I got the delivery of this beautiful beast device today and I just fail to understand how some people are cribbing about the high price when they are contradicting themselves when they compare and declare it better than any other Android device in the market. I'll say that if anyone has strong desire to own the best, go for it and you'll not repent and enjoy the whole some experience it offers. whether it is awesome acoustics or breathtaking photography you'll fall flat for it. Despite it being a huge 5.7" in size it feels so light in your hands that you will keep on praising the sturdy, simple and excellent build quality, it offers When it offers you replaceable battery how can there be water resistant body, I fail to understand. It is better than Google XL Pixel in almost every aspect and offers more than that in terms of memory if you consider that you can have 256 GB add on card also. The secondary screen adds so much utility and innovation. The IPS Quantum Display is so cool and phone is treat to hold. Bundled high end ear pieces are other high point of the offer.

The Multi Media Power House ..!!
by Amazon Customer on 2016-12-23

Power
My God, this mobile phone is a power house. You will never ever run into any hiccup or stuttering or any of that sort. It is just buttery smooth.

Camera
This is by far the best cameras in mobile phones out there. The primary camera's image quality is really great. The wide angle rear camera helps to take those wide angle shots, which is my all-time favorite. The front selfie cam is wide enough to cover more people and background.

Display
Just amazing QHD display. Wonderful VR experience, just love it. Please be aware that QHD eats up more battery than full HD.

Q-DAC
Great addition. Amazing sound quality when connected with B&O earphone comes along with this package particularly when listening to HI-FI (.flac files) audio files. Those music addicts & professionals who can definitely enjoy the real time, high resolution audio with .flac files. Each and every bit of music is a pleasure to listen to through B&O earphone (I am not exaggerating here, you just need to listen with B&O to actually spot the difference). Your current earphone may sound mediacre after listening the music through B&O earphone. In my case, I felt my old headset (Sony MDR-XB30EX) just crappy.

Android Nougat
Surprisingly, this is the first phone came out of Android Nougat (Not Nexus OR Pixel) with new great features and enhancements.

Size
5.7 inch is quite big for small hands, but this is expected. I find it very useful indeed as it gives good reading experience (I don't use my Amazon Kindle anymore). Also gives great movie watching experience. Also the one hand operation mode (mini view) is just a swipe away, in case you find it hard to operate with single hand.

Overall
I find it really awesome. I always wanted to have a unique (non-Chinese) phone with great features without compromising the quality & performance. This served the purpose.

Advantages of V20 over Oneplus 3/3T (If someone is looking for this)
• Non-Chinese
• Secondary Display (Nice addition)
• Dual & Wide angle cam
• QDAC Audio
• QHD Display
• IR – For Remote
• Wider Selfie
• B&O headset (superb quality)
• High quality audio recorder
• FM Radio
• Manual Control while recording video
• Dual SIM plus micro SD (Supports up to 2TB. Is there a 2TB SD card available in the market yet?)
• Nougat
• Removable Battery
• Military grade protection

However, Oneplus shines on Battery (200mAh extra), Processor (SD 821), 16mp Selfie cam, 128GB internal storage option, 6GB RAM and of course a lot cheaper. But I am sick & tired of all these Chinese companies now.

LG's camera app is packed with features, especially when it comes to manual controls for photos and video, and it's actually quite amazing how much they've been able to pack into this camera. You have granular control over every aspect, including white balance, ISO, exposure, shutter speed, and focus, just as you would on a DSLR.

Software
============

There are built-in themes available that have been made specifically for the V20, which is useful if you aren't a fan of the default color scheme.

Performance and battery life
==========================

Under the hood is what you would typically expect from a 2016 flagship, with the LG V20 also featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor that is backed by the Adreno 530 GPU and 4 GB of RAM. Even with LG's somewhat heavy skin, the performance has unsurprisingly been excellent, and handles everyday tasks with no issues.

Great phone let down by Shady Pricing
by Amazon Customer on 2016-12-15

Look. let me first say that I have no problem with the phone per se.
I actually find it very interesting and capable. I spent almost an hour in the retail store fiddling with it.
It looks and feels much better in real compared to the pictures. I will add my detailed observations later in the same review.

Now my only gripe is with LG. I don't like their intent at all. They are almost trying to fool a customer.
How can they simply market those inferior Earphones for Rs 18,000.
The original B&O H3 that oozes quality is a fraction below 18K in india with all the duties and stuff included.
These are some watered down version specially made by B&O for V20 keeping the cost factor in mind.
For God's sake LG. get this stupid marketing Jargon out of those campaigns. you will do yourself a favour!
