Micromax Canvas Blaze 4G Plus Black - Expert Reviews
The Indian smartphone maker, Micromax, has been on an upswing with its budget phones and has displayed an aggressive streak for expanding outside the country as well. Moreover, in the face of some tough competition from the likes of Xiaomi, Gionee, OnePlus, Huawei, Motorola, Oppo along with big guns like Samsung, Sony and HTC, the company has strengthened its ‘Canvas’ series with newer models. So, in an effort to cash in on the 4G craze, the company has introduced another budget smartphone named Micromax Canvas Blaze 4G Plus at an extremely economical price range of Rs.5,000 to Rs.6,000. The smartphone makes its foray against some quality products that offer a formidable set of specifications. These include Lenovo A7000 Plus, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime and Motorola Moto E 4G 2nd generation.
Micromax Canvas Blaze 4G Plus boasts of a modest design with clean rectangular shape, which is not only easy on the eyes but also easy to handle - the latter attribute for being light and dimensionally smaller in size. The gadget is aesthetically pleasing and is available in a slew of attractive colours. However, some of its competitors offer better designs and a more premium feel.
Micromax Canvas Blaze 4G Plus comes with a 4.5 inches display having a modest resolution of 480 by 854 pixels behind its back. However, the images displayed on the screen are quite decent and watching videos on it is not that bad either. The screen is quite fast as far as responsiveness is concerned, delivering lag free performance.
The camera section is quite dependable with Micromax Canvas Blaze 4G Plus as the smartphone features an 8MP primary rear shutter that can capture pictures at a resolution of 3264 by 2448 pixels. The images captured therein are crisp in brighter backgrounds, although low light images are not as apt and do lack some reasonable colour accuracy and saturation.
There is a 2MP secondary front camera as well that can be used to capture selfies, even though this is certainly not the strongest selfie camera we have come across. There is LED flash available for the primary camera but no such facility for the secondary camera. Overall, the camera department is pretty good even with video recordings (read primary camera only).
The hardware specifications for Micromax Canvas Blaze 4G Plus are pretty decent with a quad-core processor from MediaTek clocking at 1GHz in consonance with 1GB of RAM delivering a decent overall performance. Multitasking is pretty speedy, although heavier applications may take their toll on the gadget including large sized games and apps.
Operating system and UI
Micromax Canvas Blaze 4G Plus comes with Android Lollipop 5.1 operating system, which is pretty much near the latest version that Android has to offer. This means access to the latest set of games and apps along with a far more intuitive interface that is more secure and easy to work with. Users can create their profiles and set the settings for various parameters according to their suitability. Apps and icons are easier to find while the touchscreen experience is far smoother and lag free.
Micromax Canvas Blaze 4G Plus offers all the basic connectivity features that users should look for in a smartphone. For exchanging data with other devices, users can make use of features like Bluetooth and USB port, with the former allowing wireless data exchange and the latter via USB cable. Users can also charge the device via USB cable. Internet is quite fast especially with the presence of 4G as users get the facilities of Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and Wi-Fi hot spot.
Micromax Canvas Blaze 4G Plus is going to be one of the smoothest gadgets in its price range with the display of the smartphone being backed by various sensors including ambient light sensor, accelerometer sensor, gyroscope sensor, proximity sensor etc. However, some of the other important sensors are notably absent including the likes of compass sensor, barometer sensor and temperature sensor.
Micromax Canvas Blaze 4G Plus has 8GB of internal memory, which is sufficient and reasonable for the device considering its price range. However, the entire 8GB is not consumable for users as only 5GB of it would be available for actual use. And for users with a large data collection, the external memory can be used through a micro SD card of 32GB capacity. The type of data that can be stored in the device includes songs, games, images, videos and documents.
There is a 1750mAh standard lithium-ion battery powering Micromax Canvas Blaze 4G Plus delivering a substantial amount of talk time and standby time. However, the usage time may get reduced if the gadget is used for heavy multimedia activities. But for normal usage, the battery should last for a decent amount of time on a day to day basis.
Offers 4G facility, which means users can access the web at a much faster rate.
There is plenty of entertainment on offer with the presence of music and video players.
Users can use two SIMs as the smartphone offers dual SIM facility. Both the SIM slots support micro SIM type.
