Micromax X270 - Expert Reviews
Micromax X270 is not about style but about utility. It is a simple bar form feature phone with dual SIM and also very basic and requisite set of specifications. It has a TFT color display of merely 2.4 inches and is offered in single basic Black color. It is an extremely affordable handset priced in the dual SIM dual standby range of phones segment available in Indian handset market. It is packed with average multimedia features boasting an audio player and FM radio along with a digital camera.
The internal memory of the phone has not been specified but the makers ensure assimilation of 500 phonebook entries and sufficient number of messages inside this handset, which is quite satisfactory. An external memory support to up to 8 GB via micro SD card can be accomplished on Micromax X270 dual SIM phone. The phone is a dual SIM handset and uses dual band frequencies of GSM/GPRS network for running its operations. Micromax X270 is more likeable for the device is fairly cheap. Enough market search and innovative technology have been put to use together for devising such an effective device. It suits the current mindset and needs of the Indian mobile market. It is expected to be well received.
Operating system and UI
The user interface of Micromax X270, if it implies what conveniences it offer to users while using it, can be touted as good. It does not have a touch screen where UI holds lot more significance as the phone operates with touch alone that is totally dependent on UI and its performance. Nevertheless, Micromax X270 supports users by giving them a comfortable keypad and a visible color screen of 2.4 inches. The 2.4 inches QVGA screen displays 256K color at screen resolution of 240 X 320 pixels. Micromax X270 is a pocket friendly phone as it measures just about 116 mm in length, 50 mm in width and 15.7 mm in thickness respectively. It is easy to toggle between SIM cards on this device. This is an added advantage of this dual SIM handset that it is easy to carry and manage.
Most amusingly, the Micromax X270 is a camera phone and as such it has an incorporated digital camera located at its rear. It bears a resolution count of 640 X 480 pixels and clicks images only. The 4x digital zoom feature of the camera enables capturing distant objects with clarity. It is incapable of any video recording. The multimedia features of Micromax X270 also inculcate a multi-format music player and FM radio. The allowed audio formats are MP3, AMR, MIDI, WAV for a good audio experience.
Quite obviously, the picture quality produced by the digital camera of Micromax X270 is poor. Its camera is incapable of generating good clicks in dark or dim light as it lacks flash. The images captured with zoom are decent but not very clear. The pictures appear blurred. There is no room to discuss the video quality as the camera of Micromax X270 does not shoot videos at all.
There is inherent WAP browser in Micromax X270 which has support of GPRS/EDGE network connections. It runs on dual band frequencies of 800/1900 MHz over 2G GSM/GPRS network. The GPRS configuration of the phone is class 12.
Micromax X270 saves some 500 phonebook entries. It facilitates rigorous calling on both its SIM cards because its internal memory keeps everything organized. There is room for memory expansion that let users expand memory to an upper limit of 8 GB with a compatible microSD card. It implies that the phone boasts of huge external memory as well.
There are pre-installed games in Micromax X270 but since it is a simple feature phone and not a smartphone, no applications are there packed inside. The phone, however, is good at managing personal information with PIM feature. It has an alarm clock, calculator, calendar, voice recorder etc.
The battery of Micromax X270 is very powerful and robust. It packs a mammoth battery of rating 1800 mAh. This is like any standard Li-ion type battery but delivers huge talk time. It has been placed to make calling experience unique on this device. One can go on talking on Micromax X270 for as long as 6 hours and the battery won’t deplete. A minimum standby time of up to 360 hours is also permissible on the device which is quite satisfactory.
The data sharing, connectivity and communication on Micromax X270 is via embedded Bluetooth and USB port. The messaging services like SMS and MMS are also available for its users. These features just introduce the low budget buyer and users with very basic ways of sharing data.
The dual SIM dual standby handset Micromax X270 is definitely good. It is fairly cheap, affordable, has a marathon battery and a set of impressive features. The domestic make is here to give some serious competition to an established brand make, the Nokia C1 00. Nokia C1 00 handset made its debut sometime back and has been liked in the low price segment for obvious reasons. First and primary reason was its price. It sells at barely Rs. 1800. It has a brand name behind it that has elevated its image. It is a pocket friendly dual SIM mobile phone weighing just about 72 grams. Nokia C 1-00 is a blend of good features at an affordable price tag. It has a 1.8 inch display resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. Its battery is very reliable and gives up to 13 hours talk time and 1152 hours of standby time. It has a FM radio. Its phone book can save up to 500 contacts. However, where it lags behind Micromax X270 is in innovation. It does not have any card slot and a special button for switching SIM. Micromax X270 sells at almost the same price. It costs just around 2000 rupees but has many new and innovative features. It has card slot support for 8 GB micro SD card and easily toggles calls between two SIM cards.
