Samsung Galaxy Avant - Expert Reviews
Samsung has been a master in deciphering the psyche of the Indian consumer in the smartphone market and has always been able to come out with the right device suitable enough to be consumed in mass. This is one of the strong reasons behind Samsung's success in the past with its ability to be ever so versatile and thus matching its competitors in terms of price and specifications. It is amusing to see how far the Galaxy series has come and no one would have ever imagined a few years back that the same would take the South Korean giant to the top as one of the most dominant forces in the smartphone world. Another one of the Galaxy models from the company includes Samsung Galaxy Avant that looks like any other modern Galaxy models we have today.
Samsung has never changed the design of the smartphone drastically and each year, we see subtle variations in the edges or corners of these smartphones. Samsung Galaxy Avant follows similar method and offers a 4.5 inches screen with a home button at the bottom while there are a going back switch and a menu option on the right and left of the front bottom respectively. There is a volume control switch on the left side of the device while the right edge of the gadget has the screen locking button. If we have to tag it, the device is pretty similar to Galaxy S4 as far as its fundamental shape is concerned. Under the hood, the hardware of the device gets defined by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM that ensure the smartphone to be swift and easy to work with without compromising on the overall pace.
The gadget has the Snapdragon 800 processor, which is a better option to have than MediaTek. For the software platform, the gadget has Android KitKat 4.4.2 operating system, which again, is as good as any other out in the market and is the most updated version of the OS, thus delivering the latest set of games and applications. Samsung Galaxy Avant would have 8GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot that should stretch the external memory of the device to at least by up to 32GB. For photography, the camera at the back of the device has a 5 megapixels backup whereas the shutter at the front sports 0.3 megapixels for making online video calls and clicking selfies. One can expect facilities in the web department including Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and HTML5 browser whereas Wi-Fi hot spot would be available in the tethering department.
Operating system and UI
Samsung Galaxy Avant mobile has a 4.5 inches screen with TFT capacitive multi touchscreen that runs on a resolution of 540 by 960 pixels and a pixel density of 245ppi. Sensors like light sensor and proximity back the screen to give it a reasonably quick interactive speed with the rest of the device.
The sound quality has been generally good with Samsung smartphones when it comes to earphones but the loudspeakers have been average even with high-end gadgets. With Samsung Galaxy Avant, one can expect a good bass and treble quality but the loudspeakers in all probability, would not be able to deliver the same sound quality. <span style=""font-size:" 13px;"="">Videos can be watched by the user through the video player that supports various formats with decent image quality and color accuracy.
The secondary camera at the front of Samsung Galaxy Avant can be used for video calling over 3G Wi-Fi and taking selfies as and when desired. The primary rear camera is somewhat at par with what other devices of the same scale offer - 5 megapixels that produces images at a resolution of 2592 by 1944 pixels. LED flash, autofocus and geo-tagging would also be a part of the assisting tools for the rear shutter. Video recordings are not the best and at times, have trouble with clarity in the background sound.
Wi-Fi hot spot feature can be used to spread the Internet connection with Samsung Galaxy Avant, whereas GPRS, EDGE, HTML5 browser and Wi-Fi are conventional tools for using gmail, gtalk, Facebook or even YouTube. <span style=""font-size:" 13px;"="">The user would also have some preinstalled apps in the device for mailing facilities including SMTP, Microsoft exchange and IMAP. Downloading would be swifter as well at a speed of around 21Mbps.
Samsung Galaxy Avant features 8GB of internal memory while the same can be extended by up to 32GB via microSD card slot. We would not be surprised if the microSD card slot potential goes up to 64GB. RAM is quite vigourous with 1GB capacity, which should enhance the overall pace of the device.
Android KitKat 4.4.2 OS is a huge source for downloading the latest games and apps including Asphalt, NFS, Temple Run 3, Contra and Fifa 2014 for the former and WhatsApp, Viber, Line and WeChat for the latter. Loads of other features can be downloaded via preinstalled Google play store application.
There is no information about the battery strength of Samsung Galaxy Avant, but anything around 1800 to 2000mAh can be expected.
The connectivity elements for Samsung Galaxy Avant would not have heavy tools like NFC and Infrared but other traditional components like Wi-Fi hot spot, GPRS, EDGE, HTML5 browser, USB port and Bluetooth would be available for use. Data can be exchanged with other devices while web can be accessed with ease and comfort - either wirelessly or via a USB cable, depending upon the means chosen.
Samsung Galaxy Avant when compared to Motorola Moto E has a bigger screen with 4.5 inches for the former and 4.3 inches for the latter. The hardware for both the smartphones is identical with a dual-core processor clocking at 1.2GHz and 1GB of RAM. There is no secondary camera with Motorola Moto E whereas Samsung Galaxy Avant would feature a VGA secondary camera. The primary camera for both the smartphones is of 5 megapixels strength, where the output produced would be somewhat identical as far as quality goes. Both the gadgets match in terms of software platform with Android Kitkat 4.4.2 operating system being a part of both.
At the moment, the battery strength is not specified for Samsung Galaxy Avant but the gadget would have to match the 1980mAh standard lithium-ion battery of Motorola Moto E should it wants to put up a tough fight. Both the smartphones would have a 32GB microSD card slot but the internal memory offered by Samsung Galaxy Avant would be double of what Motorola Moto E has to offer. Samsung Galaxy Avant comes with 8GB of internal storage as compared to the 4GB internal memory of Motorola Moto E. Motorola Moto E comes with dual SIM facility, which is not the case with Samsung Galaxy Avant.
