Spice M 5365 - Expert Reviews

All that a customer looks for from a mobile phone is whether it delivers certain basic traits that contribute to his or her immediate requirements. For example, a high-profile smartphone, on one hand, would require the latest operating system and high resolution. A low-end device on the other hand should be strong in terms of battery and robustness. Since the device is low budget, the user would also be looking to get maximum out of it in terms of the number of features. Whether or not these features are big on quality is not the priority but their sheer presence is. So keeping that in mind, Spice has introduced Spice M 5365 which is also called as the boss killer. Although its actual interpretation is beyond our understanding, its 2.4-inch screen has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels which is the bare minimum offering. The device weighs 101grams and has a length of 118mm, a breadth of 53mm and a height of 15mm. The microSD card slot at the top portion of the device is a great way to add to the total memory and augment it up to 8GB. This would ensure that a huge data collection can be kept including songs, games, images and videos.

There is no USB port with the device which is strange as it eliminates the opportunity to exchange data with computers or laptops unless they are compatible with Bluetooth which Spice M 5365 supports too. GPRS and the WAP browser open the door for the users to use the web and surf web sites like Facebook and Twitter. The 1.3 megapixel camera is a good feature to have when in need to click pictures or shoot videos. Bringing the multimedia options into play, a music player and the FM radio takes care of the musical part of the entertainment whereas the video player is a fabulous tool for watching videos. Like most of the low scale device from Spice, this one too is available in single color of black. There are two features of this device that are more useful than the flashy attributes including the beefy standard lithium-ion battery of 1,800mAh and the dual-SIM facility. The former of the two yields a robust talktime of up to 8 hours along with a standby time of up to 650 hours while the latter is responsible for allocating two SIM in the gadget at the same time. Thus the user can receive calls and make calls without compromising with the other SIM. Remaining features of the device include Alarm, Calculator, Calendar, To-Do List, Language support, Spice Life, Mobile Tracker, Spice Gang, Caller Group, Facebook, Google, TOI, Nimbuzz, VAS Apps, ibibo, Spice Messenger.

Operating system and UI

Spice M 5365 comes with a 2.4-inch display that is governed at a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and a pixel density of 167ppi. The TFT screen gives 65k colors and has alphanumeric keypad below it for typing purpose.

Other Features

The music player has a good sound quality when used with the earphones. With the 3.5mm jack, the user can even change earphones to ear buds for enhancing sound. There is always the loudspeaker but the clarity is not good. Video player is also a good option to watch videos while FM radio vouches for top radio stations.

Spice M 5365 is assisted by a 1.3 megapixel camera for clicking pictures at a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels. The quality of the pictures is as good as a VGA camera but in case of outdoors especially when the light is too bright. Videos are fine but no extra assisting features are provided.

Spice M 5365 uses the WAP browser and the GPRS for accessing the Internet. Facebook is one of the more popular websites and can be visited with ease but downloading of data should be limited to images and text files excluding songs and videos.

Spice M 5365 has an 8GB microSD card slot that makes up for the otherwise meager internal memory. The user cannot store anything greater than a few contact information, call records or SMS’s by solely depending on the internal memory.

Other Features

Spice M 5365 has a moderate number of games but more can be accessed through the web. But don’t get your hopes up too high as far as the quality is concerned.

An 8 hour talk time is pretty good on any given day which can mainly be contributed to the burly battery strength of 1,800mAh. Spice M 5365 also churns out a formidable standby time of up to 650 hours which is as good as any other similar specification gadget in the market.

Bluetooth is vital in Spice M 5365 as there is no USB port which means that the former is the only means of exchanging data with other compatible devices. The nature of data that can be exchanged may include songs, games, images and videos. GPRS, apart from acting as a web server, also lets the users keep track of the required destination.

Other Features

Spice M 5365 when compared to Micromax X234 has a bigger screen with the 2.4-inch display for the former and 2-inches for the latter. Spice M 5365 has a TFT display as compared to TFT LCD display for Micromax X234. Spice M 5365 has a 1.3 megapixel camera which produces better images as compared to the VGA camera from Micromax X234. Spice M 5365 can expand the external memory of the device up to 8GB while Micromax X234 has a 2GB potential. There is a big difference in the battery strength of the two devices with 1,800mAh for Spice M 5365 as compared to 800mAh for Micromax X234. The standby time produced by Spice M 5365 is up to 650 hours which is considerably greater than the 200 hours yielded by Micromax X234. The talktime offered is also double with 8 hours in Spice M 5365 as opposed to 4 hours in Micromax X234.
