- The company announced the launch of 4 devices: iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max
- Apple also introduced HomePod mini smart speaker
The iPhone 12 line-up has finally hit the ground with 4 devices, i.e., iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max making their way into the market. Apple also unveiled a smart speaker, HomePod. Apple hosts the Annual iPhone event in September, but this time, after a small delay, the event was definitely worth the wait.
Apart from introducing these devices, a few new cool Siri features were also announced at the event. Let’s take a quick look at the event highlights and device features:
iPhone 12
In terms of looks, the iPhone 12 looks strikingly similar to the iPhone 5s, attributing to its flat-edges and aluminum frame. The size remains the same as iPhone 11 with a 6.1-inch screen. In an upgrade from iPhone 11, iPhone 12 will boast a Super Retina XDR OLED panel instead of a Liquid Retina LCD display. The dual-camera set-up has been continued with a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 12MP wide lens. Picking up from the MacBook, Apple has introduced the MagSafe charging technology in the iPhone, which will allow you to magnetically charge your device and more via various accessories. The price starts at INR 79,900 for the 64GB version and will be available in India starting October 31st.
iPhone 12 mini
A “junior” version of iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini is smaller in size and more compact. The specs, hardware, and features remain identical to that of the iPhone 12, except that the screen size is reduced to 5.4-inch. Mini has been priced starting INR 69,900 and will be available 13
th November onwards.
iPhone 12 Pro
With a triple camera unit containing a LIDAR sensor to support AR features and better depth detection, the iPhone 12 Pro gives the quintessential flagship iPhone experience. The screen size has been increased to6.1-inch but the Super Retina XDR display still stands. Pushing the envelope with its video shooting abilities, iPhone 12 will allow you to shoot, edit, and view videos in Dolby Vision. The price starts at INR 1,19,900 for the 128GB version. The sale starts on 13
th November.
iPhone 12 Pro Max
Almost identical to the iPhone 12 Pro, the only difference between the two is a) the screen-size with the Pro Max having a 6.7-inch display, and b) 12 Pro Max has a 65mm focal length on its telephoto camera against the 52mm on the iPhone 12 Pro. iPhone 12 Pro Max will cost you INR 1,29,900 for the 128GB version.
HomePod Mini
After 2 years of first introducing HomePod smart speaker, Apple has now come up with an upgraded but smaller HomePod Mini. The Mini supports the same Siri-powered smart speaker capabilities as the HomePod. It is also equipped to be compatible with third-party music services such as Amazon Music, apart from the usual in-house services like Apple Music, Podcasts, radio.com. The price starts at INR 9990 and will be available from 6
th November in India.
One of the most noteworthy highlights of the event was the fact that none of these devices will come with a charging brick inside the box and will only have the Type-C to Lighting cable. Will it affect the sales of the device, only time will tell?
